Bomb Scares #1

Tick-tock, tick-tock…It’s time to stop the clock! Time Bomb Comics’ Bomb Scares #1 is crowdfunding on Zoop!

The concept of this series is a simple one: Inspired by the notorious EC horror comics of the fifties and the Warren horror mags of the seventies, Bomb Scares was originally a horror anthology released through Kickstarter as a series of black and white 100 page volumes, and edited by Paul H Birch.

With the third volume appearing back in October 2021 it then seemed the perfect opportunity to take Bomb Scares in a different direction. The result is Bomb Scares #1: a relaunched, reformatted, more streamlined anthology package that will include both color and black and white strips with content intended to scare, intrigue, bemuse and repulse – and throw in a dash of unexpected pitch-black humour too

The bloody great new horror anthology features Liam Sharp, Alex Nino, Trevor Von Eeden, Jimmy Broxton, Hunt Emerson, John Erasmus, David Windett, and more!

You can get a copy now with other options including a print, signature, and more.

Harker: The Black Hound Part Two arrives in February

Since coming to Time Bomb Comics in 2019, dark comedy crime series Harker has quickly become a favorite of the British Indie comic scene. This new comic finishes out the second storyline and will be published in February after a highly successful Kickstarter pre-order campaign.

DCI Harker is enjoying a holiday in Whitby, and the last thing he wants is to be drawn into solving a murder. So when a famous novelist is killed right in front of him, he decides he’s a suspect and relaxes on the dodgems. DS Critchley, however, needs his help, especially when another body washes in with the tide. Could Harker really be the murderer? He’s certainly grumpy enough…

Following on from the huge success of the previous story, Harker: The Book of Solomon, and the first volume of The Black Hound, Time Bomb Comics and creators Vincent Danks and Roger Gibson, and colorist Andrew Richmond are excited to bring this finale to fans.

Like the previous Harker books, this graphic novel is part two of two: a full colour, sixty-eight page perfect bound volume of this thrilling crime series – a unique homage to classic tv detective shows, filled with humour, wit, adventure and mystery.

DCI Harker is a homage to the classic tv detectives: he has the shabby dress sense of Columbo, drives a car Morse would love, has the grumpy demeanor of Gene Hunt from Ashes to Ashes, possesses the quirky oddness of Monk and displays the dazzling brilliance of Sherlock Holmes. He’s a classic hard-boiled English copper in his late fifties: moody, antisocial and almost incapable of functioning in the modern-day police force. DS Critchley, his faithful assistant, is his foil – modern and smart with an eye for the girls, but equally strange and eccentric.

Harker The Black Hound Part Two will be published in February 2023.

Dave West joins Time Bomb Comics

Time Bomb Comics

Time Bomb Comics has announced that Accent UK’s creator and founder, Dave West, will be joining the company.

September 2022 marks the 15th year of publishing for Time Bomb Comics who, since their very small press beginning back in September 2007, have steadily evolved to become one of the mainstays of the British comics publishing community, including a recent licensing deal with Gerry Anderson’s Anderson Entertainment and comics available in newsagents and comic shops across the UK.

Now, as they enter their 16th publishing year, Time Bomb Comics are delighted to be able to announce that Dave West, best known for being one half of indie publishers Accent UK with Colin Mathieson, is joining Time Bomb Comics to be part of their core publishing team alongside business manager David Morris and publisher Steve Tanner.

As a writer, West will also be bringing with him a range of cult classic titles formerly published by Accent UK, including supernatural western series Westernoir, Kia Wordsmith, and Stephenson’s Robot, which will now be published under the Time Bomb Comics banner. Dave will also be developing further titles for Time Bomb and play a key role in the company’s future.

Time Bomb Comics joins Larkshead Licensing and Anderson Entertainment in new Publishing Deal

Time Bomb Comicshas announced a new partnership with Anderson Entertainment in a deal brokered by Larkshead Licensing. The first publication will be a 44-page comic anthology, Spectrum, featuring three cult titles from the mind of prolific creator Gerry Anderson: New Captain Scarlet, Space Precinct, and Terrahawks.

Gerry Anderson’s work was a huge part of the British television landscape from the 1960s to the 1990s, and his shows remain popular with science fiction fans across the globe. The three titles included in Spectrum span the genre from alien fighting to space-based police procedural. Bringing them together in this anthology will create an exciting and unique comic book.

New Captain Scarlet was a reboot of the original 1960s show broadcast in the 1990s. Using CGI as an evolution of the original Supermarionation puppetry, the show followed the titular Captain Scarlet in his battle against the invading Mysteron aliens. Terrahawks used an altered version of the Supermacromation style, refined with 1980s technology and incorporating latex hand-puppets. The series sees a ragtag group of humans defend Earth after the destruction of NASA. Finally, the 1990s Space Precinct was a live action series that incorporated puppetry in creating realistic and sophisticated alien characters. A police procedural set in space, it was known for its groundbreaking special effects.

The creative teams for the new anthology are Steve Tanner (writer), Pete Woods (artist) and James Grey (letters) on New Captain Scarlet; Richmond A Clements (writer) and James Gray (art and lettering) on Space Precinct; and Dan Whitehead (writer), Ste Pickford (artist) and James Grey (lettering) on Terrahawks. The cover will be drawn by Steve Pugh known for his work at DC, Marvel, Dark Horse and 2000AD.

Spectrum will be opening for pre-order sales on Kickstarter in April with publication later in 2022.
