The Plot Holes #5 wraps up the series with its usual winks and nods

THE PLOT HOLES are a squad of fictional warriors who transport themselves into the pages of other books, using their unique skills to save the plots in order to stop them from being destroyed. And Cliff is their newest recruit, a comic creator who’s just realized his world isn’t real-in fact, it’s a complete fiction that literally exists inside a novel.

Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Ginseng Roots #12

Wednesdays (and Tuesdays) are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this week.

Abbott: 1979 #1 (BOOM! Studios) – On the eve of the 1980s and the Reagan Administration, Detroit is burdened with an oppressive darkness-both political and supernatural. It’s the start of the final chapter of the trilogy!

Birds of Prey #2 (DC Comics) – The first issue was what we expected hitting a lot of moments we’ve seen before but the interaction, personalities, and art, has us excited for more. The debut was a lot of fun and we’re expecting more for the second.

Clementine Book 2 (Skybound) – Clementine’s adventure continues in the second volume of this graphic novel series for younger readers based on the popular video game set in the world of The Walking Dead.

Count Dante #3 (Scout Comics) – The comic is the sort of true story about the martial arts legend. How much is fact and how much is fiction? That’s for you the reader to decide.

The Devil That Wears My Face #1 (Mad Cave Studios) – It’s Face Off meets The Exorcist and it’s so good. Watch our initial review.

Ginseng Roots #12 (Uncivilized Comics) – It’s the finale to Craig Thompson’s series that has him celebrating his parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. It’s been an interesting series about a world so few of us know.

G.O.D.S. #1 (Marvel) – It’s a “bold” expansion of Marvel’s Gods and the first issue is… interesting. We’re expecting big things from this, so this is the chance to get in on the ground floor.

The Midnite Show #1 (Dark Horse Comics) – Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt… that alone has us excited about this horror series about monsters of the silver screen coming to live and wreaking havoc on a small town.

The Night Eaters Vol. 2 Her Little Reapers (Abrams ComicArts) – The first volume caught us off guard with its horror roots. It delivered so many twists and turns, we’re excited to see what the second volume brings.

The Plot Holes #2 (Massive Publishing) – Sean Gordon Murphy’s new indie series’ debut was full of interesting ideas about characters in books who have to save other books. It was more than enough to get us intrigued to see what comes next.

Ranger Academy #1 (BOOM! Studios) – If you had a chance to join the Power Rangers, would you do it? We’re intrigued about this new series that expands the Power Rnagers Universe.

Transformers #1 (Skybound) – We’re Transformers fans and this comic already has sold out at the distributor level, so it’s hot, hot, hot! We’ve read it already and our review will be out Wednesday and we definitely have thoughts.

Sean Gordon Murphy’s The Plot Holes sells out and gets a second printing

Due to the overwhelming response to the release of its debut original series, Sean Gordon Murphy’s The Plot Holes, Massive Publishing has announced it will take the book to a limited second printing. The decision comes as reorder and sales reports for the first printing, which featured cover art from an all-star list of creators (including Walt Simonson, Dan Panosian, Jon Sommariva, and Matteo Scalera), indicate Diamond Comic Distributors’ stock will be fully sold out over the weekend. Plot Holes #1 is the first creator-owned book from writer/artist Sean Gordon Murphy since his Image Comics series Tokyo Ghost with Rick Remender. With reorder demand for the book still high, the Massive Publishing team is sending the book immediately to a second printing.

The second print features brand new cover artwork by Kim Jacinto, a star on the rise at Marvel and DC, as well as a regular contributor to Massive Publishing. Kim brings his signature style to the Plot Holes characters with this Limited to 5000 copy release and 1:10 incentive ratio “Black & White” variant. The preorder on Previewsworld (JUL238654) is open now with a final order cutoff date of Monday, September 4th, giving retailers the chance to pair their orders with the Plot Holes #2 FOC closing the same day. Both the second print of Issue one and the anticipated second issue will release in stores on September 27th

Massive Launches 2 new imprints a Sean Gordon Murphy book, and partners with Sumerian

The Plot Holes

Diamond Comic Distributors has announced that Massive Publishing, known for its inaugural imprint, Whatnot Publishing, will move into the Deluxe Tier with the June 2023 PREVIEWS catalog. In its first six months of publication, Massive distributed over 800,000 units to shops around the world. Massive has also announced 2 new imprints, the release of Sean Gordon Murphy‘s The Plot Holes, and will be distributing Sumerian Comics to the retail and direct market.

Sean Gordon Murphy’s new comic!

Massive’s first non-imprint series is the long-awaited retail release of The Plot Holes by writer/illustrator, Sean Gordon Murphy. With the release of the mini-series, Murphy makes his return to his creator-owned roots for the first time since building his own groundbreaking Batman universe at DC Comics in 2017.

Murphy, who won an American Library Association award with his first ever creator-owned book Off Road (released by Oni in 2005) will kick-off the MASSIVE flagship line this August, with cover variants by legendary artist such as Walt Simonson, Klaus Janson, Dan Panosian, Matteo Scalera, and more.

Two new imprints!

Massive also will mark its move to the Deluxe Tier category with the launch of multiple new imprints, significantly expanding its publishing footprint. Each new imprint will have its own unique flavor and creative direction spearheaded by a mix of established trailblazers in the industry and up-and-coming voices. They include…

Overlook: Catering to readers with a penchant for the macabre, the horror focused imprint will be helmed by arguably the most prolific horror writer in comics today, Cullen Bunn and Hustle & Heart Films CEO Heath Amodio. The high-end horror brand will also feature a who’s who of show runners and writers from across the Film and TV space alongside comic industry pros.

Kingwood Comics: An imprint focused on Black characters and stories will launch this September with the first retail distribution of the celebrated series Harriet Tubman, Demon Slayer, soon to be a live-action series on Disney +. The books creator, David Crownson will helm the Kingwood imprint as it builds on the legacy of diverse creators in comic books and highlights groundbreaking talent such as Courtland Ellis, Nikolas Draper-Ivey, Caanan White, Khary Randolph, and more.

Sumerian distribution!

Sumerian Comics: The publishing arm of Sumerian Records will join forces with Massive this fall as it shifts its primary publishing focus to licensed TV, Film and Music related properties curated by Co-Publishers Nathan Yocum and Ryan Swanson. Sumerian’s first release will be Bad Omens: Concrete Jungle #1, the comic series inspired by the popular band of the same name.
