Go “Beneath The Dark Crystal” At BOOM! Studios

BOOM! Studios and The Jim Henson Company have announced Jim Henson’s Beneath the Dark Crystal #1, an all-new twelve issue series debuting in July 2018.

Writer Adam Smith and rising-star artist Alexandria Huntington unveil a new sequel to the hit film as Kensho arrives at the Crystal Castle where he was once a lowly acolyte and is asked to accept the responsibility as leader of Thra. But he will have to rectify sins of the past before he can decide if he – or anyone – is fit to rule. Meanwhile, the realm of Mithra is being rebuilt by the newly-crowned Ember Queen Thurma, whose own quest to decide the future of her land is thrown into question when another Fireling makes a claim as the true heir to the throne.

Jim Henson’s Beneath the Dark Crystal #1 features a main cover by Benjamin Dewey, along with variant covers by Eisner Award winners David Petersen, Ramón K. Pérez, and Dave McKean.

BOOM! Studios, in partnership with The Jim Henson Company, has announced the Jim Henson’s Labyrinth 2017 Special, on sale in November. Featuring a diverse assembly of acclaimed creators, including Jeff Stokely, Roger Langridge, Delilah S. Dawson, Adam Smith, Katie Cook, Ryan Sook, Derek Kirk Kim, and more, this second annual special is an all-new collection of short stories that celebrates the various characters and creatures from the world of Labyrinth (1986). This includes the never-before-told story of how Sir Didymus met his trusted steed Ambrosius, and the story of a goblin running late to the famous “Dance Magic Dance” sequence from the iconic film.

BOOM! Studios and The Jim Henson Company have announced Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal Tales, a new children’s book set for release this summer by acclaimed writer and artist Cory Godbey. The publication is a follow-up to last fall’s best-selling Jim Henson’s Labyrinth Tales, also written and illustrated by Godbey.

Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal Tales delves deep into the Skeksis-ruled land of Thra in this beautiful look at some of Jim Henson and Brian Froud’s finest creations from the beloved cult-classic film The Dark Crystal. In one tale, when a little bird is hurt in a Skeksis net, Jen takes it to the Mystics for healing and learns how every act of kindness grows like ripples in a lake.
