The Dark #2 and Terror #1 are releasing Halloween morning on October 31st, available only on comiXology.
The Creators debuts with issue #1 on the first official #IndieComicThursday – November 3rd.
“Indie Comic Thursday” is an initiative created by Alterna to signify a new release day for their digital comic book titles on comiXology. The initiative was created in an effort to release new indie comic books on a less cluttered day (generally Wednesday is the release day for 90% of publishers, largely known as “New Comic Book Day”).

The Kickstarter campaign is set to run the entire Month of May with a close date of May 31st. The book itself will go off to print at the close of the campaign with an estimated release of August, 2016.
The Creators is a comic about a step in human evolution that gives a small portion of the world’s young population the ability to literally bring their imaginations to life through their artwork. This power, fueled by raw adolescent emotion can be beautifully awe inspiring or massively destructive and dangerous, depending on the intent of who wields it. Feared by the world and hunted by the B.C.E. (The Bureau of Creative Enforcement), the creators fight to understand their abilities and carve out their place in the world.

Was there ever a child who didn’t wish that they could bring their imagination to life at some point? Whether it’s an imaginary friend they’ve spoken to when no one was looking, a strange and fantastic beast to protect them from a bully or something even more incredible that could deal with a true evil in their life, all kids at some point want to not just escape into their own worlds, but bring them forth to affect the harshness of the real world. The Creators was a way for me to explore this wish in the ‘real’ world through comics, the narrative form I’ve loved my whole life. Comics, the place where I fought to bring my imagination into existence for as long as I can remember.
The Creators, which I will be kickstarting during the month of May, is a comic about a step in human evolution that gives a small portion of the world’s young population the ability to literally bring their imaginations to life through their artwork. This power, fueled by raw adolescent emotion can be beautifully awe inspiring or massively destructive and dangerous, depending on the intent of who wields it.
The story of The Creators is told through the eyes of a young girl named Maya who, after suffering a traumatic loss, brings forth a very special creation named Kardunn (a seven-foot tall bipedal purple unicorn) to serve as her protector and friend as they run from the Bureau of Creative Enforcement, a government agency developed to hunt down and deal with all young creators.
As a father and a career teacher, I have watched imaginations flourish in young minds for almost fifteen years. I’ve spent time with kids who had to deal with problems so beyond what I’ve faced in my 36 years and they lived with a smile on their face as long as they had their imaginations and a sketchbook. I’ve watched as my young daughter developed an imagination and began to do the thing that I love to do as an adult; pretend. I watched as she fought monsters, cast spells and ran through mystical worlds that I never saw in our living room.
Although the comic does look at the world through its protagonist’s eyes, it also takes the time to look at how a diverse cast of people with this power fit into this world and how their imaginations have helped to build up the world or destroy it. This story has given me the ability to tackle so many social issues in a dark yet fun and imaginative way over the past three years.
