Celebrate icons of a Galaxy Far, Far Away with Star Wars Women’s History Month Variant Covers

 From Jedi Knights to Rebel leaders, the course of the Star Wars galaxy has been shaped by legendary women heroes! In honor of Women’s History Month, Marvel Comics will spotlight some of these iconic characters in new variant covers.

Featured on all of Marvel’s current Star Wars comic series hitting stands in March, the seven Star Wars Women’s History Month Variant Covers are drawn by the industry’s leading women artists and depict characters from Star Wars storytelling including films, television and streaming series, and comics.

Each brave and inspiring in their own unique way, here are the characters highlighted this year:

  • Ahsoka Tano, former Jedi Knight who served as Anakin Skywalker’s fierce Padawan during the Clone Wars. Ahsoka’s heroic exploits after walking away from the Jedi Order have made her one of the franchise’s most beloved characters and last year, she starred in her own hit live-action series on Disney+ which will be adapted to comic book form this summer!
  • Fennec Shand, feared assassin and elite mercenary whose deadly skills are a highlight of shows like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
  • Mon Mothma, one of the key founders of the Rebel Alliance known for carefully guiding her fellow Rebels in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and more recently, Andor.
  • Omega, member of the mighty clone crew, Clone Force 99. Armed with her trademark energy bow, she carves out a new life for herself and her brothers in the Star Wars: The Bad Batch animated series.
  • Rey Skywalker, the powerful Jedi hero who saved the galaxy from the re-emerged Sith in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
  • Rose Tico, an expert Resistance mechanic who found herself on the front lines of the galactic civil war in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
  • Tynnra Pamlo, a wise galactic senator who boldly opposed Emperor Palpatine alongside the Rebel Alliance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Ken Lashley’s Star Wars Black History Month Variant Covers spotlight Mace Windu, Adi Gallia, and more

Marvel will once again bring its Black History Month celebration to the galaxy far, far away with a new set of Star Wars Black History Month Variant Covers. Across five stunning covers, acclaimed artist Ken Lashley honors beloved heroes of the Star Wars franchise, including characters from various Star Wars storytelling eras. Jumping into action with lightsabers and blasters, each depiction showcases the strength of these inspiring heroes and will grace Marvel’s Star Wars comic series each week in February!

Here’s who will be spotlighted this year:

  • Mace Windu, revered Jedi and member of the Jedi High Council known for his epic feats throughout the prequel trilogy. Mace’s cover will be featured on the debut issue of his new solo limited series. Also launching in February, the series will be written by Marc Bernardin and drawn by Georges Jeanty and will reveal a dangerous mission Mace undertook before his introduction in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
  • Adi Gallia, another respected Jedi Master who sat beside Mace on the High Council. Adi’s fierce battles on the frontlines of the Clone Wars have been depicted in various video games, comic books, and television series.
  • Kawlan Roken, brave leader of an underground network dedicated to helping surviving Jedi during the rule of the Galactic Empire. Roken debuted in last year’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+ where he helped Obi-Wan on his quest to rescue Princess Leia and this marks his first ever cover appearance.
  • Bell Zettifar, a young Jedi during the High Republic era. Zettifar’s journey with the Force from apprentice to full Jedi Knight has been told across Star Wars’ High Republic publishing including novels and Marvel’s own High Republic comic series.
  • And Captain Panaka, loyal protector of Queen Amidala. Captain Panaka is remembered for his dedication to the Queen during the Trade Federation invasion of Naboo, as seen in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

NYCC 2023: Marvel reveals new Star Wars series including Thrawn, Mace Windu, and Jango Fett

Next year, Marvel embarks on a host of new adventures in the galaxy far, far away! Last weekend at the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at New York Comic Con, an all-star lineup of Star Wars talent joined Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain to give fans a first look at what next year holds for Marvel Comics’ line of Star Wars comic books. The new announcements included an all-new limited series starring Mace Windu hitting stands just in time for the 25th anniversary celebration of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, a comic adaptation of Timothy Zahn’s New York Times #1 best-selling Thrawn: Alliances novel, and more!

Launching in January, Star Wars: Thrawn – Alliances will see Zahn team up with writer Jody Houser and artists Andrea Di Vito and Pat Olliffe to bring his groundbreaking chapter of Thrawn’s saga to Marvel Comics! Witness the tactical prowess of the galaxy’s most dangerous mind in action as Thrawn begins his legendary rise to power and forges a lasting and deadly partnership with Darth Vader. 

In February, one the greatest Jedi must stop an incendiary secret from falling into the wrong hands in Star Wars: Mace Windu, a new limited series written by Marc Bernardin and drawn by Georges Jeanty. Even in the years before the Clone Wars, Mace Windu was known for his discipline, determination and combat skills. When a scientist’s discovery threatens the balance of the galaxy, Mace is led down a treacherous path of mystery and action. The series will also introduce Azita Cruuz, a pirate with a deadly secret, who the Hutts and the Republic will stop at nothing to control!

January also marks the explosive conclusion of Ethan Sacks’ Star Wars: Bounty Hunters with issue 42. Valance the bounty hunter has one final mission to complete…and it may indeed be his LAST! Can he and the crew fight their way past Boba Fett…and Jabba’s secret weapon? Find out in this grand finale that’s four years in the making!

Come March, Ethan Sacks will continue to deliver action-packed storytelling set in Star Wars’ criminal underworld in Star Wars: Jango Fett. Alongside Star Wars veteran artist Luke Ross, Sacks continues the legacy of one of the greatest bounty hunters: JANGO FETT! A bounty to find! A mystery to solve! A treaty at risk! All this plus Aurra Sing in the mix! Be there for Jango Fett’s brand-new mission!
