Shmaltz Brewing Company brought to the official Star Trek Las Vegas Convention 2018 a unique Collector’s Edition release commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. 2018 marks 25 years since Star Trek: Deep Space Nine premiered in 1993. CBS Studios has teamed up with Shmaltz for the only officially licensed Star Trek beers in the United States.

In 2016, Shmaltz debuted two critically acclaimed Star Trek Golden Anniversary Ales to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the iconic franchise, Star Trek. 2017 brought quadruple the excitement commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation with four limited edition Star Trek specialty beers under license by CBS Consumer Products: Star Trek Klingon Imperial Porter (7.3% ABV), Star Trek Symbiosis (5.5% ABV), Star Trek Captain’s Holiday (5.5% ABV), and Star TrekMirror Universe (5% ABV). In August 2018, the latest offering Star Trek Profit Motive transports itself in 4-packs to retail outlets and will be available on draft at select bars in 30 states across the country through Shmaltz’s new national sales relationship with Artisanal Imports.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 25th Anniversary Ale — Profit Motive
Quark’s Bar, Grill, Gaming House and Holosuite Arcade is the central attraction of Deep Space 9’s Promenade, offering drink, food, gossip, gambling, and fantasy fulfillment. Quark, the establishment’s proprietor, is a Ferengi entrepreneur and sometimes petty criminal who conducts all his business in gold pressed latinum. Quark, like all Ferengi, is motivated by profit and piling up strips, bars and bricks of latinum.

Shmaltz Brewing Company is hyper motivated to brew high quality award-winning beer, and the hopped up golden ale Star Trek Profit Motive is no exception. Whether you’re a Trekkie or a craft beer enthusiast, get motivated to drink this latest extraterrestrial offering in the Star Trek beer series. Gar-day latinum sou-tah! (This is worth its weight in latinum.)

Shmaltz Brewing Releases “Star Trek” Klingon Imperial Porter

klingon-imperial-porterIn 2016, Shmaltz Brewing debuted two critically acclaimed Star Trek Golden Anniversary Ales to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the iconic franchise, Star Trek. 2017 brings triple the excitement with the limited release of three Star Trek specialty beers rolling out throughout the year. Under license by CBS Consumer Products, the first extraterrestrial elixir of 2017 is Star Trek Klingon Imperial Porter (7.3% ABV). Six malts including Specialty 2-Row, Vienna, Melanoidin, Crystal, Honey, and Pale Chocolate are masterfully brewed with two hops, Columbus and Vanguard. Lifting off this week, Star Trek Klingon Imperial Porter transports itself in 4-packs to retail outlets in 35 states across the country and will be on draft at select bars.

Fans can raise a goblet of Star Trek Klingon Imperial Porter to the strongest warriors in the Galaxy, and discover the ruby undertones that pay homage to Klingon Bloodwine and fallen warriors who hold honor above life. “There is no honor in attacking the weak,” so take pleasure in besieging this 7.3% ABV Imperial Porter. But like this mighty brew, Klingons also have a sweet side: Witness the wedding ritual where the gods forge two hearts so strong that once joined together cannot be opposed. (Just ignore the part of the ceremony where the groom swings his bat’leth at the bride!)

A Klingon proverb states: “Death is an experience best shared,” and so is the first Star Trek limited release of 2017. Qapla’!

Enjoy Star Trek Klingon Imperial Porter at the following events across the country:
February 28: Star Trek Trivia Night @ My Parent’s Basement, Avondale Estate, GA
March 2: Klingon Hop Orgy Party @ The Factory Eatery, Ballston Spa, NY

The national rollout of Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles is now underway to 25 states across the country, including California, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, and many others.

This summer and fall, Star Trek celebrates its 50th Anniversary and Shmaltz captures the TV show’s indelible spirit that so many science fiction fans have come to love over the last half century. With The Original Series debuting on NBC in 1966, Star Trek has grown to become the #4 all-time movie franchise broadcasting in over 200 countries and grossing $2.4 billion all-time sales at the box office. CBS Studios has teamed up with Shmaltz Brewing for the only officially licensed Star Trek beers in the United States.

Trekkies attending “Star Trek Las Vegas,” Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles will be available at the Rio Hotel & Casino, The Rebel RePUBlic (3540 W Sahara Ave), The Millennium Fandom Bar (900 S Las Vegas Blvd), Lee’s Discount Liquor locations throughout Las Vegas. In fall 2016, Shmaltz brings their second Star Trek Golden Anniversary Ale: Voyage to the Northeast Quadrant to “Mission New York” at the Javits Center from September 2 – 4, 2016.

Star Trek Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles

(5 Malts, 5 Hops, 5% ABV)

In the original Star Trek series episode “The Trouble with Tribbles,” the U.S.S. Enterprise is called to protect a shipment of a genetically engineered four-lobe grain that is a hybrid of wheat and rye, called quadrotriticale. Since the year 2269 is still about 250 years in the future, Quadritriticale has yet to be conceived. Thus, Shmaltz brews with triticale for Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles.

Star Trek Golden Anniversary Ale: Voyage To The Northeast Quadrant

(5 Malts, 5 Hops, 5% ABV)

Recipe designed by 2nd Shift Supervising Brewer Ivan Dedek, Shmaltz’s second offering for Star Trek 50 harnesses a crisp, clean malt character showcased by the use of light Munich malts and brewer’s maize. The aroma is accented by fresh citrus fruits such as lemon and lime with subtle notes of white wine. The crisp malts and fruity aromas are elevated by maintaining a mild bitterness allowing each selected ingredient to offer its individual qualities without being overshadowed by any single ingredient. With 5 malts, 5 hops and 5% ABV, Voyage To The Northeast Quadrant is the perfect brew for any beer lover to toast the 50th Anniversary of such an iconic piece of popular culture.

Ale Fit for A King to Benefit The Hero Initiative

Label_kirby_printShmaltz Brewery in Clifton Park, NY will host a fundraiser birthday party on Thursday, August 28th, 2014 to celebrate the late Jack “The King” Kirby’s birthday. Kirby is considered by many to be the co-creator (along with Stan Lee) of the Marvel Comics Universe. Kirby co-created many of the superheroes being adored by fans of Marvel’s recent blockbuster movies, including the Avengers, the Hulk, Captain America, Thor, the Fantastic Four and many more.

A group of local comic professionals approached Shmaltz about doing an event, with proceeds to be donated in Jack Kirby’s honor to Hero Initiative, a non-profit organization that helps comic creators in need. Shmaltz stepped up in a big way, creating a limited-edition, Kirby-labeled ale exclusively for the party. King Kirby Ale will make its debut at the event, and a limited number of cases will be available for purchase. With a special edition label designed and drawn by Clifton Park artist Paul Harding, the ale will be available in both Pale and Dark varieties.

The Aug. 28 event will run from 4 to 8 p.m., and feature an impressive array of comic professionals, including Green Lantern and Silver Surfer writer Ron Marz, sculptor Paul Harding, X-Men artist Tom Raney, Conan and Spider-Man writer Fred Van Lente, writer Crystal Skillman and many others, who will be signing and sketching for donations to Hero Initiative. Van Lente and Skillman are the co-authors of the recent play “King Kirby,” about Jack Kirby’s life, which enjoyed a successful, well-reviewed run in New York City. Fans attending the party will be able to get autographs and sketches from the comic pros, and enjoy a beer tasting as well as a piece of special Jack Kirby birthday cake. Live music will be provided by Saratoga-based rock ensemble Sugar Pill, led by John Stack on guitar and vocals. Party tickets are $20, with proceeds donated to Hero Initiative. Door prizes have been donated by Comic Depot of Saratoga Springs, and Excellent Adventures Comics of Ballston Spa.

Tickets for the event are available online.
