The EC Archives expand with The Complete Moon Girl

Dark Horse Books presents The EC Archives: The Complete Moon Girl, written by Gardner Fox and Dorothy Roubicek and illustrated by Sheldon Moldoff and Johnny Craig. This hardcover volume collects Moon Girl #1-8, all Moon Girl stories published in other EC titles, and EC Comics’ first horror story “Zombie Terror” featured in issue #5, scanned from the original comics and digitally restored in this new edition. It also includes a foreword by Grant Geissman, designer and content curator of The Complete Moon Girl.  

The Complete Moon Girl collects the amazing adventures of Claire Lune and Lionel Manning—Moon Girl and the Prince—who together fend off invaders from other planets as well as fight crime, and who “dedicate themselves to the task of creating a better world.”

The EC Archives: The Complete Moon Girl (368 pages, hardcover, 8.1875” x 10.9375”) will be available in bookstores July 1, 2025 and comic shops on July 2, 2025. The Folio Society, independent publisher of beautifully illustrated hardback books, in collaboration with DC, will celebrate the 85th anniversary of the first comic book appearance of DC’s Dark Knight Detective with the release of DC: Batman. Created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, Batman first appeared in 1939’s Detective Comics #27 and since then the Dark Knight has stood as a symbol of determination, courage and justice to generations of fans for over 80 years. Batman is one of the most iconic fictional characters in the world, and is a self-made Super Hero, notable not for his super powers, but for his intelligence, determination, and tech savvy.

This collectible compilation includes twelve seminal comics, by a host of iconic writers and artists— including Bill Finger, Bob Kane, Jerry Robinson, Denny O’Neil, Neal Adams, Marshall Rogers, Frank Miller, Dave Mazzucchelli, Alan Moore, Brian Bolland and Kelley Jones—all selected and introduced by former DC President, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of DC, Jennette Kahn. Along with the 320-page one-of-a-kind deluxe book, DC: Batman also comes with a stand-alone replica copy of Batman #1. Scanned in its entirety from an original 1940 copy, the replica copy of the Batman #1 comic book, which includes the original back-up strips and vintage ads and introduces DC’s Clown Prince of Crime, aka The Joker, and The Cat, who would come to be known as Catwoman.

Batgirl has been unmasked as Leslie Grace Lands the Role of Barbara Gordon

Reports have been coming out that Warner Bros. and DC have found their Barbara Gordon/Batgirl in Leslie Grace. Grace is considered a rising star after her breakout role in In the Heights.

The casting has not been confirmed but Grace has confirmed it herself on Twitter.

Batgirl currently is going to be an HBO Max release and one of the major properties to debut exclusively on the platform. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will direct the film off of a script by Christina Hodson. Kristin Burr is producing.

Generally, Batgirl is Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon who must deal with balancing the Gotham Police force and masked vigilantes in the city, including his daughter.

Batgirl was created by Bill Figner and Sheldon Moldoff and debuted in Batman #139 in April 1961. Originally Betty Kane, she later became Barbara Gordon in 1967. Gordon debuted in Detective Comics #359 in January 1967 by writer Gardner Fox and artist Carmine Infantino. Others have donned the cape and cowl including Huntress Helena Bertinelli, Cassandra Cain, and Stephanie Brown.

Mondo Has Three New Prints Celebrating 80 Years of Batman Launching Tomorrow

On Tuesday, May 28th, Mondo will kick-off the first collection (of three) of remaining prints from their recent 80 Years of Batman gallery show.

The aim was to capture the original cover art as accurately as possible to its first printing, except recreated as a beautiful, large format screenprinted poster. There’s lots more to come too.

But until then, tomorrow the first batch of posters collecting several stunning covers from the Golden and Silver Age Bat books. Featuring artwork by Bob Kane, Fred Ray, Jerry Robinson, Sheldon Moldoff, Carmine Infantino, and Murphy Anderson, these posters all highlight the lighter, more pulpy beginnings of the Dark Knight Detective.

Joining these posters will be a brand new enamel pin and t-shirt using the Mondo Comics Code Authority created for these faithful poster reproductions. This collection will be available on Tuesday (5/28) at a random time via mondotees.com!
