Archie Comics goes big with “Little Archie” and “Bite Sized Archie” releases in April

Archie Comics is reviving a fan-favorite series from the archives in a hilarious modern-style reboot this April with the launch of Fun With Little Archie and Friends Special #1. The one-shot comic updates the “little” versions of Archie Andrews and the Riverdale gang who have thrilled young readers since their debut in 1956 with a star-studded collection of contemporary comics talent. Fun With Little Archie and Friends will release the same month as a graphic novel collection of the acclaimed Bite-Sized Archie web comic series for a double-helping of all-ages fun as only Archie Comics can deliver!

The Fun With Little Archie and Friends one-shot anthology features contributions by writers Shannon Watters, J. Torres, and Rotante and artists Erin Hunting, Adrian Ropp, and Agnes Garbowska in a wild fantasy story that dives into the world of video games and table top adventures. Beyond the usual fan-favorites like Little Archie, Little Jughead, Little Betty & Veronica, and Little Sabrina, an assortment of beloved characters will be making their “Little” debuts including Cheryl Blossom, Toni Topaz, Harper Lodge, and more!

Bite Sized Archie Goes Big with Syndication on Tinyview and Digital Collection at comiXology

Bite Sized Archie, the first-ever webcomic series from Archie Comics, is expanding its online presence with a new syndication deal with digital comics app Tinyview and the upcoming release of the first in a series of digital collections on comiXology.

New and previously published editions of Bite Sized Archie will continue to be posted every Friday on the Archie Comics social media pages, while Tinyview users will get a special early preview on Thursday evenings. All previously released and upcoming editions of Bite Sized Archie will be available on the Tinyview platform for web, iOS, and Android, and adapted for its vertical-scroll format. Bite Sized Archie joins a diverse assortment of popular webcomic series on the platform, which specializes in delivering short bursts of comics content directly to readers in an easy-to-read format and is the first addition from a major American comics publisher on the service.

Bite Sized Archie will also be heading to digital comics platform comiXology with a digital volume collecting the first 16 comic strips and extras including behind-the-scenes conversations, character sketches, and more. Bite Sized Archie Vol. 1 will be available for individual download at $2.99 or free-to-read for ComiXology Unlimited subscribers on June 2nd.

Archie Comics promotes Jamie L. Rotante and Ron Cacace

Archie Comics has announced the promotion of key staff members to director positions, Jamie L. Rotante and Ron Cacace.

Jamie L. Rotante has been promoted from Editor to Senior Director of Editorial. Rotante will be in charge of the editorial direction for new comics and graphic novel content, working with licensors, and more. Rotante has spent the last 11 years with the company excelling in her various roles as proofreader, editor, and author of the BETTY & VERONICA: VIXENS and SENIOR YEAR storylines, where she helped provide a unique take on the legendary characters, in addition to penning Archie’s first original graphic novel, THE BOND OF FRIENDSHIP with artist Brittney Williams. Rotante will continue to deploy her excellent attention to detail and harness her organizational skills in her new role as she plots the course for new Archie Comics content, talent, and stories throughout the rest of the company’s 80th anniversary and beyond.

Ron Cacace

Ron Cacace has been promoted from Digital Marketing Manager to Director of Publicity and Social Media. In his new role, Cacace will provide the strategy for the company’s communications, in addition to continuing to manage Archie’s social media presence, foster relationships with key digital partners such as ComiXology, organize in-person & digital events, and more. Cacace helped grow Archie’s social media presence across Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram exponentially, producing news-making viral moments, crafting a unique and recognizable voice for the brand, and being hyper-attentive to the needs of the fans. Cacace is the writer of the new webcomic series Bite Sized Archie, drawn by Archie Comics Art Director Vincent Lovallo and published weekly on the brand’s social media pages.
