With the November 3 midterm election weeks away, Rock the Vote will distribute limited edition copies of REGISTER! #1, a comic book about voting rights, at the upcoming Power to the People concert.

The REGISTER! series takes readers through the American constitutional amendments that expanded the right to vote. In issue #1, readers learn about the passage of the 26th amendment and the history of the “Old Enough to Fight, Old Enough to Vote” movement. It blends history with contemporary narratives and includes an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how the book was made.

Published by Good Trouble Comics, it was written by Andrew Aydin and illustrated by Valentine De Landro with lettering by Clayton Cowles and coloring by Marissa Louise.

The comic was first produced for the New York City Department of Education and it is available to a wider audience as voting rights faces serious pressure across the country.

Changing registration rules, shifting deadlines, and ongoing legal and legislative fights over who can vote, and how, make it more important than ever that voters, especially young people, know their rights and check their registration status before it’s too late.

Check out our review of REGISTER! below and you can get your own copy here.

Today, believe it or not, 8 states and the District of Columbia have elections. Through the rest of June, 11 more states go to the polls. While the nominees of the two major political parties have largely been decided, the General Election has not.

Voting is one of the most powerful things we can do. While it is flawed, and I can go on about our choices, this upcoming election the choice is clear. But, there’s more than just the Presidency at stake. We need to vote at every level of government, Senate, House, Governors, local officials, so many are on the ballot. Those local offices are especially important as they’re the ones that drive and oversee the policies under which the police operate, schools educate, social services are delivered.

You can help set the direction of this country at the ballot box. It’s one of the tools to create change for the better.

November 3 is the important election date but you need to register to vote first. Below is the form to fill out through Rock the Vote that’ll help you get registered!
