500 years in the future when citizens’ thoughts are monitored by a centralized super-computer and crime has all but been eliminated, the mysterious and violent death of an individual is cause for significant alarm. This is whole new terrain for the ill-equipped security forces, especially when what appears to be a homicide investigation leads to evidence that someone’s mind is off the grid, raising the tantalizing possibility that absolute security – and the world in general – is not all that it’s cracked up to be. Acclaimed writer Marc Guggenheim presents part two of his original series Nowhere Man, where the mystery only deepens and action picks up.

Preview – Nowhere Man #1

NOWHERE MAN #1 (of 4)

32 pages FC •  $3.99  • Teen +

Five hundred years in the future the government monitors everything – including your mind. Everyone on earth has been infected with a nano-tech virus that allows a central computer known as the Omnimind, to tap into and analyze people’s thoughts. As a result, all crime has been eliminated from society for decades, until a violent murder shatters the fragile social facade.

Searching for answers, a group of rebels have engineered the ultimate weapon: a genetically altered child, born immune to the virus. With the ability to act undetected, he’s the only one on the planet that can elude the elaborate apparatus of the suffocating Ominimind. Now in a society where security is the paramount concern, the hunt is on for the one blip in the system that might bring the whole house of cards crashing down.

Pick of the Week – Avengers: X-Sanction #2

There’s a lot of interesting comics coming out this week, but I’m fascinated to see what happens next in Avengers: X-Sanction #2.  The first issue had Cable picking off the Avengers one by one to prevent some future disaster and we know the Avengers and X-Men clash in a few months.  This is the prelude that leads into all of that and I have no idea what to expect.

  • Avengers: X-Sanction #2 – see above
  • Fatale #1 – I read the first issue and while it’s not as solid as Brubakers and Philips’ last team-ups, the comic is solid as expected.
  • Animal Man #5/Swamp Thing #5 – What happens with the Red and the Green next!?  I want to know!
  • Nowhere Man #1 – Marc Guggenheim’s latest. It just looks cool.
  • Peanuts #1 – I love me some Peanuts.

Marc Guggenheim’s Nowhere Man Launches From Liquid Comics & Dynamite!

Official Press Release

NEW SCI-FI THRILLER LAUNCHES IN DECEMBER!

September 23, 2011, Runnemede, NJ – Coming from Dynamite Entertainment and Liquid Comics this December comes Nowhere Man, created by acclaimed screenwriter and television producer, Marc Guggenheim (Green Lantern, No Ordinary Family, Eli-Stone, Flash Forward).

“I’m thrilled this project is finally seeing the light of day. It’s always been one that’s near and dear to my heart and I feel like I’ve grown a lot as a writer in the interim, so I’m really looking forward to tackling this concept and helping to create a new and vibrant science-fiction universe,” commented Guggenheim.

The story for Nowhere Man takes place 500 years in the future where an oppressive government monitors everything – including your mind. It’s the Patriot Act gone haywire. Everyone on earth has been infected with a nano-tech virus that allows a central computer to tap into and analyze people’s thoughts. But a group of rebels have engineered the ultimate weapon: a genetically altered child, born immune to the virus. With the ability to act undetected, he’s the only one on the planet that can bring some semblance of privacy and individuality back to the world. He is the Nowhere Man.

“Marc Guggenheim is one of the most talented writers in entertainment today and his unique story is greatly enhanced by the fantastic visual world created by artist, Jeevan J. Kang,” added Liquid Comics Co-Founder & CEO, Sharad Devarajan. “We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Dynamite, who has been a fantastic publishing partner for Liquid in North America.”

Marc Guggenheim’s Nowhere Man will launch as a four-issue mini-series beginning this December. Artwork for the series is being completed by Jeevan J. Kang (The Sadhu, Seven Brothers, H20).
