Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom Vol. 8 keeps readers on their toes while taking jabs at gender expectations

After being rescued from drowning at sea by Nadia, a strange girl with red hair who can’t talk, Sabrian and Abigail invite her back to the palace as thanks.

What they don’t realize at first is that Nadia is actually a mermaid princess!

After confirming Nadia’s true identity, Abigail is faced with conflicting feelings.

If she is able to put her personal feelings aside, Nerghen will gain a powerful ally in the mermaid kingdom and a happy future for Sabrian.

The only problem is, Nadia’s heart seems to be set not on Sabrian, but Abigail!

Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom Vol. 7 is another great volume and sets up new directions

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful queen who believed herself unlovable…The king of Nerghen has been hugging everyone he meets―everyone except his wife, that is! Not sure what to make of Sabrian’s odd behavior, Abigail can’t help but wonder why he seems to be avoiding her…To complicate matters further, Abigail’s brother, Prince Kane Kronenberg, arrives for a visit. What initially seems like a touching reunion between siblings takes a turn when his treatment of her dredges up some nauseating memories from Abigail’s past life. Dealing with a brother she can hardly remember is difficult enough, but with her husband keeping his distance and her self-loathing threatening to consume her, will Abigail manage to keep her wits about her and make it through Kane’s stay?

Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom Vol. 6 ups the tension of will they or won’t they

Once upon a time, there lived a king and queen who insisted there was absolutely no possible way they were falling in love… Now that Verite has been introduced to the rest of the Freidkin family, he’s got his hands full! He and Blanche have become fast friends, but the glass between them serves as a painful reminder of what his limitations are. Meanwhile, the whole palace is buzzing with excitement about the king and queen’s improved relationship–well, everyone except the couple themselves! As both Abigail and Sabrian struggle with their own burgeoning feelings, the two turn to their resident magic mirror for help. Will Verite’s efforts be enough to keep the couple together, or will their fear and lack of communication tear them apart?

As the Freidkin family prepares for the Queen Mother’s return, they’re filled with dread and anticipation―until the woman arrives, and she actually seems…nice? Abigail’s first impressions of Sabrian’s mother are hardly what she was expecting, but that doesn’t mean she’ll let her guard down. Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Wednesdays (and Tuesdays) are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this week.

Destro #1 (Skybound) – It’s latest piece of the puzzle for the Energon Universe. Cobra Commander has connected with Destro at the end of his series, so what’s next?

Feral #4 (Image Comics) – The series has been amazing with beautiful art mixed with its horror undertones.

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #307 (Skybound) – The series has been great so far continuing the long running series and delivering a shot in the arm.

Not Sew Wicked Stepmom Vol. 4 (Yen Press) – The series has been a great spin on Snow White with an “evil wicked stepmom” who is trying to protect her daughter and mend the relationship with her daughter’s father.

The One Hand #5 (Image Comics) – How does this serial killer mystery end? We have no idea and are excited to find out.

Rooster Fighter Vol. 6 (VIZ Media) – The concept might seem silly but the series has been fantastic so far and is a martial arts packed western with a rooster out for revenge and protecting the people.

Ultimate Spider-Man #6 (Marvel) – The previous issue was just ok focused on Harry Osborn while this one will wrap up the first story arc. It’s a great take on Spider-Man and one of the best comics Marvel is putting out right now.

Uncanny Valley #3 (BOOM! Studios) – It’s Terminator meets Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and it’s amazing. Great art with a fantastic premise results in a hell of a series so far.

Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime #1 (Marvel) – Marvel doing Disney comics!? We can’t wait to check out Marvel’s spin on Disney characters using classic Marvel stories and ideas.

Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom Vol. 3 is another great volume adding depth to Sabrian

As Foundation Day approaches, pressure mounts on Abigail to show the world that she and Sabrian are a perfectly happy couple. Unfortunately, she’s got her work cut out for her–news of how Sabrian slapped her hand away during their dance practice has reached the ears of the other nobles. With the adorable Princess Blanche there to give them a push, will the king and queen be able to build enough trust in each other to attend the festivities as a united front and successfully put the malicious rumors to rest?

Animal Pound #2 (BOOM! Studios) – The first issue was an interesting update to Orwell’s classic and we’re intrigued where this goes and how it might differ.

Blasfamous #1 (DSTLRY) – We’re intrigued to see what this new horror comedy from Mirka Andolfo and DSTLRY is like.

Blitmap #3 (Titan Comics) – We’re here for the unique covers but the story concept and the fact anyone can riff on it is something to watch.

Cemetery Kids Don’t Die #1 (Oni Press) – A kid’s consciousness is locked in a horror game and his friends attempt to rescue them.

Cobra Commander #2 (Skybound) – The first issue was an amazing mix of old and new building off of the mythoes that came before in new ways. Add in the connection to the Transformers world and this is a series that has deserved buzz.
