SDCC 2024: Dynamite reveals Paulina Ganucheau and Silvia De Ventura will take on The Powerpuff Girls

Dynamite and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have announced more sugar and spice coming this October for The Powerpuff Girls fans, announced today just in time for San Diego Comic-Con.

In addition to an upcoming special, the ongoing series of The Powerpuff Girls jumps into its second phase with a brand new writer. Multiple Eisner Award-nominated scribe Kelly Thompson tackled the first trio of tantalizing tales for the series. She was joined by artists Paulina Ganucheau, Karen S. Darboe, and Miriana Puglia on each issue, respectively. Now for issue #4, Thompson hands off the baton to her own Powerpuff Girls collaborator, as Paulina Ganucheau takes on writing the next three issues.

For this issue, Ganucheau focuses on writing and is paired with artist Silvia De Ventura for the next three chapters. This marks the first transition establishing the series as switching off to a different, fresh female writer after every three issues. Fans can stay tuned each quarter when the next big name will bring their scripts to the series for their take on the beloved trio of pint-sized superheroines.

On the story side, The Powerpuff Girls #4 brings the fabled sugar, spice (and Chemical X!) to the forefront for a charity bake sale competition hosted by Ms. Bellum and the Mayor. Beating up monsters and foiling bank heists is plenty of fun, but Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup may have never faced a challenge quite like baking! Even though this tale features an unexpected challenge, that doesn’t mean it’s without a villain, as the girls will be facing off with Princess Morbucks in the bake sale showdown.

Ganucheau contributes a cover herself, continuing her run of them on the series to date. She’s joined by the returning Nicoletta Baldari, and newcomers Kenya Danino and Pasquale Qualano.

The Powerpuff Girls #4 comes to shelves in October 2024.

Dynamite reveals covers and interior art news for The Powerpuff Girls

The Powerpuff Girls

In time for Cartoon Network‘s The Powerpuff Girls‘ 25th anniversary, Dynamite and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have updates for The Powerpuff Girls fans as the hotly anticipated comic book series approaches its debut, spotlighting two incredible artistic features.

Some eagle-eyed fans may have been able to guess this first bit of news. Karen Darboe‘s jaw-dropping cover for the first issue featured just Bubbles, whereas each other cover for the debut has the complete iconic trio. Dynamite can confirm that not only are Karen’s next two covers for the second and third issues portraying Blossom and Buttercup, but that the set are in fact a single connecting piece for fans to collect and complete for their collections! In addition to the titular trio, the covers also spotlight three of the most iconic villains in the franchise with HIM, Mojo Jojo, and Sedusa.

In addition to her beautiful covers, fans can look forward to even more of Darboe’s artwork in the series thanks to the other big update. Kelly Thompson‘s stories on the series will feature a new unique artist on each and every issue. Darboe herself tags in for the second one, following Paulina Ganucheau kicking off the party. Then Miriana Puglia finishes off the initial salvo for issue #3’s interior artwork.

Darboe’s covers for the second and third issue, alongside her and Puglia’s story artwork, will be joined by more outstanding covers by Ganucheau, Leonardo Romero, and Nicoletta Baldari.

Celebrate Stitch Day with a new graphic novel from Dynamite

This year Dynamite and Disney are celebrating Disney’s Stitch Day with a big rollout of great, diverse stories starring the titular blue-furred bundle of mischief!

What is Stitch Day? The blue alien buddy who co-stars in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch was originally designated as Experiment 626. While Dr. Jumba Jookiba created more unique experiments, 626 is the most famous. 626 Day offers Disney fans the opportunity to playfully celebrate the beloved character that has captivated global audiences while commemorating his intergalactic namesake.

As part of this year’s celebration, Dynamite is proud to present a spectacular 96-page graphic novel honoring everyone’s favorite furball. Arriving in stores precisely on Stitch Day, which coincides with New Comic Book Day on Wednesdays, fans can pick up this special release and celebrate the holiday with a relaxed read. We cannot all be laying on a Hawaiian beach while doing so, but with some Disney magic everyone can enjoy the antics of Stitch wherever they are!

The book is 6 by 9 inches at a perfect digest size that will be ideal for all ages, including kids who love the original film and all its colorful characters. Within is an anthology format featuring several brand new solo tales rotating the spotlight across the hallmark cast. Of course Stitch is front and center, but readers will get to hang out with Lilo, Nani, Jumba, Pleakley, Bubbles, David, Myrtle, and more.

A diverse roster of creators all pitch in their talents to this celebration. Writers include Moana McAdams, Chuck Brown, Daniel Kibblesmith, and Jeff Parker. Artists Miriana Puglia, Emiliana Pinna, and Giulia Giacomino of the ongoing series also contribute, while virtuosos like George Kambadais and Edwin Galmon write and draw stories. The book features a gorgeous cover by Sean Galloway, known for his unique cartooning style, that matches Lilo & Stitch perfectly!

In addition to Lilo & Stitch #626, the first four issues of the ongoing Lilo & Stitch series by Greg Pak and Giulia Giacomino are assembled together into a gorgeous collection. Lilo & Stitch: ‘Ohana is available as both a paperback and a hardcover, both sporting the beautiful issue #1 cover by Joshua Middleton. Also produced at 6 by 9 inches, they will be hitting stores everywhere books are sold in June a bit ahead of Stitch Day, allowing fans to get excited and start their Stitch shelf early!

Last but certainly not least, said ongoing comic series marches onward with Lilo & Stitch #6 also releasing on Stitch Day alongside #626. In this issue, Stitch winds up in his impromptu circumnavigation of the globe just steps ahead of the increasingly agitated Cluster Sovereign. Pak and Giacomino are joined with covers by Nicoletta Baldari, Trish Forstner, Edwin Galmon, and Craig Rousseau.
