Bob Marley: One Love took first place at the weekend box office for the second weekend. The movie added $13.5 million to its gross to bring its total to $71.2 million after two weeks. Internationally, the film added $20.4 million to its total which now stands at $49.4 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $120.6 million after two weeks.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Hashira Training debuted in second place with $11.6 million. Internationally, the film grossed $16.7 million for a worldwide total of $28.3 million.

In third place was another debut, Ordinary Angels with opened with $6.5 million. There’s no international gross.

Madame Web tumbled to fourth place after coming in second the previous weekend. Its $6 million is a 60.9% decrease from the opening weekend. The film has grossed just $35.4 million domestically after two weeks. It also grossed about $16.3 million over the week internationally to bring that total to $42 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just $77.4 million in two weeks.

Migration rounded out the top five with $3 million to bring its domestic total to $120.4 million. Internationally, the movie added about $8.3 million over the week to bring that total to $148.3 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $268.8 million.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom added $362,812 to its domestic total. Domestically, the film now stands at $123.8 million. Internationally, the film added $100,000 over the week and has grossed $309.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $433.7 million.

Audiences show love to Bob Marley, not so much Madame Web

Bob Marley: One Love was the top of the weekend box office. The film brought in $27.7 million for the weekend and has an estimated $51.1 million for the holiday weekend. Internationally, the film grossed $29 million for a worldwide opening week of $80.1 million.

Madame Web came in second with the worst opening for Sony’s Spider-Man franchise. The movie grossed $25.8 million domestically over the holiday weekend and Wednesday opening ($15.2 million over the weekend) and $25.7 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $51.5 million. Morbius had the previous honor of a bomb with $39 million opening weekend. It went on to earn $167.5 million worldwide but is rich in memes. Madame Web has just 13% approval for critic reviews and 55% for audience, expect this one to either tank or get a nice run for the hate watching.

Argylle slipped to third place with $4.7 million. It has now grossed $37.3 million domestically. Internationally, the film has grossed $8.7 million over the week to bring that to a little over $40 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $77.3 million.

Migration moved up one spot to come in fourth place and improved its gross. The film earned $3.8 million, a 27.7% improvement. It has now grossed $116.1 million domestically. Internationally, the movie has grossed a bit over $140 million for a worldwide total of $256.1 million.

The Chosen: S4 Episodes 4-6 rounded out the top five. It grossed $3.4 million for its domestic total to bring it to $4.2 million domestically.

Anyone But You was fourth with an estimated $5.4 million to bring its domestic gross to $64.2 million. Internationally, the movies added $13.2 million to that total over the week which is now an even $36 million.

Mean Girls ruled the weekend box office with $28.7 million over the weekend and $33.2 million through the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Internationally, the film also grossed $6.5 million delivering a total of $39.7 million for the weekend. The movie cost just $36 million to make and was originally planned for Paramount+ before positive test screenings led to it being released on the big screen.

In second place was The Beekeeper with an estimated $16.8 million over the weekend and $19.2 million for the holiday weekend. Internationally, the film has grossed $2.8 million for a worldwide debut of just under $22 million so far.

That’s an improvement from the previous weekend. It has now grossed $142.8 million domestically. Over the week, it added about $73.3 million internationally to bring that total to $244.4 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $387.2 million.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom dipped to second place but showed some life in its second weekend with a drop of just 29.6%. It grossed an estimated $19.5 million to bring its domestic total to $84.7 million. Over the week, it grossed an impressive $93.5 million internationally to bring that total to $173.6 million. Maybe the weekend box office will be saved by Christmas Day, but Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom debuted in first place with am anemic $28.1 million. Its domestic box office currently stands at $40 million. The international gross wasn’t much better with $80.1 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $120.1 million.

The first Aquaman opened with $67.9 million domestically and would go on to earn $335.1 million domestically and $1.152 billion worldwide. Like many previous blockbusters, the sequel struggled in its opening weekend and will likely stumble for its run. Welcome to the post-Covid box office.

Wonka slipped to second place with an estimated $17.7 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $83.6 million after two weeks. Internationally, the film added $58.9 million over the week to bring that total to $171.3 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $254.9 million.
