Wonka knocks Aquaman from the top of the weekend box office

Warner Bros.’ films traded positions at the weekend box office as the distributor dominated the weekend. Wonka took the box office, improving from second place with just under $24 million. That’s an improvement from the previous weekend. It has now grossed $142.8 million domestically. Over the week, it added about $73.3 million internationally to bring that total to $244.4 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $387.2 million.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom dipped to second place but showed some life in its second weekend with a drop of just 29.6%. It grossed an estimated $19.5 million to bring its domestic total to $84.7 million. Over the week, it grossed an impressive $93.5 million internationally to bring that total to $173.6 million. Worldwide, the movies has grossed $258.3 million in two weeks.

Migration held on to third place with an improvement to $17.2 million. It has now grossed $59.4 million. Internationally, the movie added $24.5 million over the week to bring that to $46.5 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $105.9 million.

The Color Purple debuted in fourth place with $13 million. It has now earned $50 million domestically.

Anyone But You slipped one spot coming in fifth with an estimated $9 million and now has grossed $27.6 million domestically. Internationally the movie has grossed $5.8 million for a worldwide total of $33.4 million.

In comic film news…

The Marvels added an estimated $33,000 to its domestic total to bring that to $84.5 million. Things are going a bit better internationally where the film added $600,000 over the week to bring it to $121.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $205.6 million.

The week’s overall box office success…

Numbers have 49 films earning $112,725,948 from 36,346 theaters. That’s an improvement from the previous weekend’s $91,027,569 from 32,099 theaters and 56 films. The average earning was $3,101.47 which is better than the previous weekend’s $2,835.84.
