Vampiro: Rockabilly Apocalypse #1

Lucha libre legend Vampiro has spent 2024 drawing sell-out crowds to arenas across Mexico for his in-ring retirement tour. As he winds down a 4 decade-long career competing in the squared circle, his life outside of arenas has been heating up. With a podcast that averages over 1 million views a week across social media, the launch of a spoken word tour and the debut of his new comic book series, Vampiro: Rockabilly Apocalypse from Masked Republic Comics and Massive Publishing, the most successful non-Hispanic in the history of lucha libre may be leaving the ring in Mexico, but not the spotlight.

The debut issue of the series, which was released in comic book shops across the U.S. on October 16th, has been receiving rave reviews and drawing comparisons to horror and sci-fi classics including From Dusk Till DawnArmy of Darkness, and They Live.

Trioscope, the studio behind Netflix’s The Liberator, George R. R. Martin’s Night of the Cooters, and upcoming action thriller feature Takeover and lucha libre powerhouse Masked Republic announced a production pact to develop Vampiro: Rockabilly Apocalypse for television.

Vampiro: Rockabilly Apocalypse #1 is available now on Massive Publishing website. Issue was recently released and can be found at local comic book shops and Massive website!

Get a first look at the Luchaverse!

Massive Publishing and Masked Republic Comics have released a first look at Luchaverse #1. Announced in April, the comic series blends wrestling and superheroes.

Originally published by Chido Comics, Luchaverse is written by Ivan Plaza and Marco Lopez with art by Ben Harvey and Diego Simone and a cover by Francesco Tomaselli.

It all starts here with the three-part launch of the epic new shared Luchaverse!  The world’s most famous luchadores battle in the ring by day, and serve humanity as monster hunters and world protectors by night. In this series, Masked Republic Comics and Massive Publishing bring back the glory and tradition of real-life lucha libre stars in comic books, setting the stage for a new era filled with epic cross-genre action in a shared universe.

The first installment of the Luchaverse series is an action-packed double feature that is a perfect entry point for both long-time fans of luchadores and new readers looking for genre-bending adventure and universe-altering mystery. First, Rey Mysterio, the world’s most recognizable luchador discovers his legacy outside of the ring as the next in line to take on a great evil prophesied to return and plunge the world into darkness…

Next, as heir to his own legacy as lead luchador monster hunter, Tinieblas Jr. takes on the legions of the damned and all manner of creatures that go bump in the night while trying to prevent ancient forces of the monster realm from conquering the universe!

Luchaverse: Catalyst #1 comes to shops on July 17, 2024.
