Dick Tracy #16 launches a Brutal New Arc this April

Mad Cave Studios kicks off a pivotal new story arc with Dick Tracy #16 that will turn the screws tighter than ever, pushing the iconic detective into a battle that cuts deeper than any other case he’s faced before! From acclaimed series writers Alex Segura and Michael Moreci, joined by artist Geraldo Borges, colorist Mark Englert, and letterer Patrick Brosseau, with a variant cover by Mahmud Asrar, this next chapter marks a true turning point in the series, one where long-buried threads resurface, alliances shift, and the one thing Tracy has always relied on may no longer hold.

THE STREETS OF THE CITY RUN RED!

As Dick Tracy struggles to get back on his feet after the cataclysmic conclusion of #15, forces beyond his control conspire and align to destroy him – and everything he holds dear!

It’s all been building to this – as the acclaimed and best-selling DICK TRACY series continues to up the ante for fans! Can the City – and Tracy – survive a brutal gang war? We find out here can only mean one thing: violence is on the horizon…who will survive it?

This new arc delivers a payoff-driven crime saga layered with moral tension and the kind of slow burn that defines the best detective fiction. A true classic noir with a modern edge will find plenty to sink into!

Dick Tracy #16 hits the streets (and comic shops) on April 8, 2026.

Gert goes on a Line-Wide Rampage in I Hate Fairyland Team-Up Variant Bloodbath Covers this April

When Spawn team-up variants were announced, Gert was annoyed. When Youngblood team-ups were unveiled, Gert began sharpening her axe. And when Invincible team-up variants were revealed, Gert screeched: “I HATE TEAM-UPS!” Image Comics is all-in on Skottie Young’s I Hate Fairyland this April in celebration of the milestone #50 issue and warns fans of a highly deranged Gert, and her Fairyland pals, taking Image covers hostage all month long.

In addition to the characters’ cameo appearances on the covers of some of Image’s hottest ongoing series, the title logos on each book will be redesigned to mirror the instantly recognizable I Hate Fairyland look.

Created by Skottie Young, I Hate Fairyland #1 debuted in October 2015. The series has sold out and gone back-to-print multiple times and received mass critical acclaim. It remains one of the most popular, bestselling ongoing Image series to date.

Capes #1 Brings Back an Out-of-Print Corner of the Invincible Universe

Capes #1

BOLT! KID THOR! KNOCK OUT! CAPTAIN COSMIC! CLAIRE VOYANT! BIG BRAIN! COMMANDER CAPITALISM! Welcome to Capes Inc, employers of your favorite super heroes that protect—well, at least when they’re on the clock—New York City from threats like MACHINE HEAD, TITAN…and now are in the crosshairs of an enemy they never expected! The Invincible Universe‘s Capes #1 has the out-of-print series return to shelves with new art and new dialogue.

My knowledge of Invincible is rather limited. I read the first trade or two, some of the spin-off series’, and know the basics. Specific details are limited and Capes #1 is something that’s completely blank to me. So, I was interested in diving into the debut issue that brings back the series to print.

Written by Robert Kirkman, Capes #1 comes off as a love letter to superhero comics while also poking fun. It delivers laughs, some good jokes, and characters you’ll love or hate. And, thankfully, you don’t need to know much about the world of Invincible to enjoy it. There’s mentions of some other characters and teams, but overall, it’s a debut issue that stands on its own.

The art by Mark Englert is good. With lettering by Rus Wooton, Capes #1 has a visual style that feels like it fits the world of Invincible. Characters are unique but you can also see some winks and nods to classic characters at the same time. There’s good work of visually balancing the superhero aspects to the comic and also the comedic. It’s one that the “timing” of the characters and panels needs to really nail it down to land some of the jokes. Character reactions and delivery are key and the comic nails all of that.

Capes #1 is an interesting comic that at times feels like it could be a one-shot to pick up and enjoy. It has aspects that feel familiar and a riff on what has come before but also a story and world all its own. It’s definitely nice to be able to dive into it after being hard to get all these years. It’s a nice piece of the overall world of Invincible and for those that might have missed its original release, you now have a chance to pick up a copy.
