BRAND NEW 4-PART ARCHIE PREMIUM EVENT LIMITED SERIES! With great powers comes great sacrifices-but when Archie is faced with having to choose between his responsibilities and his first love, Betty Cooper, will his duties to Riverdale win out over his heart?

Archie is Mr. Justice #3 (of 4)

Archie is Riverdale’s Newest Superhero this November!

Archie Comics expands into new genres and media every year, and it will round out 2024 with a giant leap in an explosive new superhero series, Archie is Mr. JusticeThe comic, launching in November, reimagines flagship character Archie Andrews as a hero who has left his mark on Riverdale and gone away, leaving his friends to remember his selfless and incredible exploits.

The four-issue limited series begins with a story by writer Tim Seeley and artist Mike Nortontold from the perspective of Archie’s best friend Jughead in an emotional recollection of how the pair discovered Archie’s hidden talents, designed his costume, and set off to save Riverdale —and the world.

That expansive cast populating Archie stories for over 80 years is the heart of the series, which will spotlight different POV characters in following issues as Riverdale looks back on the impact of Mr. Justice, for good or for ill. Each issue will feature a new creative team, as well, including Amanda Diebert, Blake Howard, Kenny Porter, Maria Laura Sanapo, and Brent Schoonover.

Longtime Archie fans may recognize Mr. Justice as a familiar figure from the “Mighty Crusaders” superhero line, dating back to the Golden Age of comics when the publisher was still known as MLJ Comics. This is a nod to Archie’s long history; in an interesting bit of meta play, these MLJ-era comics exist within the fictional universe of Archie is Mr. Justice and inspire Archie and Jughead to act when discovering Archie’s powers.

Archie is Mr. Justice #1 releases November 20 in comic shops nationwide, with colors by Glenn Whitmore, lettering by Jack Morelli, and three open-to-order covers by Reiko Murakami, Francesco Francavilla, and Matt Talbot.

FC | 136 pages | Action Adventure | $34.99 | Mature

In “Miss Fury: Joy Division,” writer Billy Tucci, along with artists Maria Laura Sanapo and Edu Menna, delves into the eponymous deep dark secret of the Nazi regime during the Second World War. Through the 1940s, several Nazi concentration camps featured brothels wherein Jewish women were forced to work as prostitutes for soldiers. This rarely discussed, dark tragedy of history remains starkly relevant today.

Now, Miss Fury and her team of Black Furies have discovered this cruel phenomenon — and they’re going to kick some Nazi ass, in an all-female style mission of revenge. The original graphic novel includes a chapter illustrated by Billy Tucci and fits perfectly into a continuity gap in the original storylines of Miss Fury, taking place in the summer of 1944. Miss Fury — real name Marla Drake — dates back to 1941 and holds the esteemed distinction of being the first female hero created by a woman in the medium.

Dave Stevens’ Rocketeer takes flight again in a new one-shot

Dave Stevens’ two-fisted triumph soars again at IDW Publishing with the May release of The Rocketeer one-shot, an anthology of three tales by an astonishing assemblage of comic-industry heavyweights!

The development of this new Rocketeer comic project began during the making of the documentary Dave Stevens: Drawn to Perfection, when filmmaker Kelvin Mao discovered that Danny Bilson and the late Paul De Meo, the original screenwriters of the 1991 The Rocketeer film, had written an unpublished Rocketeer comic book story guest starring aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart some years earlier. Mao, along with the film’s executive producer Robert Windom, approached superstar Adam Hughes to illustrate the tale, and the project evolved into a celebratory one-shot anthology edited by Scott Dunbier.

The Rocketeer one-shot includes an eight-page story by Bilson, De Meo, and Hughes; a 12-page story of Cliff Secord’s date night with Betty leading to trouble with a vaguely familiar adventurer/archeologist, written by Mao, drawn by Craig Cermak, and colored by award-winning Laura Martin; a four-page story of the Rocketeer fighting a Japanese Zero in the South Pacific, written by Robert Windom, drawn by the fan favorite Jae Lee, and colored by June Chung; pinups by Phil Noto and Maria Laura Sanapo; and more!

The Rocketeer one-shotwill be available in comic book stores in May with several variant covers for fans and retailers to enjoy, including Cover A by Adam Hughes, Cover B by Locke & Key artist extraordinaire Gabriel Rodríguez, and two special retailer incentive “Full Art” variants of the Hughes and Rodríguez art respectively.

Bad Kitty is Back in the Big Easy!

Dynamite has announced the return of the former good cop turned zombie hunter, Bad Kitty. This action-packed new special is being written by Tom Hutchinson, with art by CB Zane, and colors by Chris Chua. It features multiple pulse-pounding covers from some of the hottest names in the industry. Fans can get their copy right now via Indiegogo!

Former Detective Katherine Bell has been away from New Orleans for a long time, but she and her cat Lucky return to hunt down a reported Skinwalker. But when her battle with the creature gets splashed all over social media, it catches the attention of the police who are still hunting Bad Kitty. All bets are off when the spirit she’s hunting takes over an even stronger body and Bad Kitty must team up with the city’s new detective to try and stop it. It’s an action-packed supernatural tale with teeth in the Big Easy.

Bad Kitty first appeared in 2001 as part of the Chaos! mythos, and made her way over to Dynamite in 2010. Katherine Bell was a good cop in the heart of a complicated Crescent City when what should’ve been a routine case brought her into conflict with the corruption on the police force. But it went deeper that that as elements of voodoo turned her lover into a zombie that was then sent to kill her. She turned in her badge and went hunting for those that ruined her life. And while they ended up dead, she became one of the FBI’s most wanted. Taking alias of Bad Kitty, she went on the run with nothing but her weapons and her black cat, Lucky, in an attempt to survive and to hunt down the supernatural wherever it lies.

Writer Tom Hutchinson, co-founder of Big Dog Ink Comics and writer/creator of Penny for Your SoulThe Legend of OzCritter, and Ursa Minor is reteaming with his partner, artist CB Zane who has also worked on The In CrowdInto the SuckWhispers in Necropolis, and Scorpiana, for this thrilling adventure that takes Bad Kitty back to her home town and forces her to deal with both her past and a crazy new creature of immense power.

On Indiegogo, readers and collectors can pick up a wide variety of reward tier options for supporting this project. Nine total standard covers are available, featuring CB Zane, Joseph Michael Linsner, Shannon Maer, Maria Laura Sanapo, Bill McKay, Michael Sta. Maria, Brian Pederson, and two featuring cosplayer Rachel Hollon. A digital edition is also available for readers! Metal, holofoil, and CGC graded copies of the covers are available.
