BigBadToyStore Launches BigBadLaunchPad
There’s been a slow move of creators moving away from crowdfunding platforms to their own with some finding success in the model and others not. BigBadToyStore has launched BigBadLaunchPad, a new dedicated hub that acts sort of like a crowdfunding platform.
With BigBadLaunchPad, collectors can:
- Discover the lore and inspiration behind upcoming projects
- Stay updated as projects move through different stages
- React to and share favorite projects
- Pre-order to unlock more items and move projects forward
In its own FAQ, they lay out how it differs from crowdfunding:
BigBadLaunchPad combines collector participation with the convenience of shopping through BigBadToyStore. Instead of making a pledge to a creator, collectors place orders directly through BBTS. Unlike traditional crowdfunding, not every project on BigBadLaunchPad depends on funding to move forward. Depending on the project type, products may already be confirmed for launch, may expand through collector participation, or may require collector support to move forward.
There’s currently six projects on the platform including a Madman figure and “Prestige” The Tick, both have been “cleared to launch.” In the updates, there’s also information about mini comics that are part of the Masks and Martyrs: Black Jet and The Human Bullet project.
