Tales from Nottingham collects 5 unique stories in a new anthology

Mad Cave Studios has announced Tales from Nottingham, a new anthology series, spearheaded by Nottingham creators, writer David Hazan and artist Shane Connery Volk

The series collects 5 unique stories by the winners of Mad Cave’s 2021 Talent Search bringing their talents to bear in the world of Nottingham each with their own perspective while also bringing diverse new talent into the world of Nottingham, including Eisner and GLAAD nominated writer Magdalene Visaggio

Tales from Nottingham explores untold stories from the twisted universe of Nottingham, including the secret origins of Robin Hood and the Merry Men, Marian’s violent past, Aya of the Hashashin’s first kill, and an ordeal that will shake Friar Tuck to his core. Never-before-seen mysteries confront Everard Blackthorne, the Sheriff of Nottingham, culminating in an investigation that will lead directly into the climactic events of Nottingham Vol. 3.

Legend has it that in April 1192, Conrad of Montferrat, the King of Jerusalem was felled by two assassins. It was later learned that this was an attempt to sow discord amongst the crusading nations by blaming the killing on Richard the Lionheart. One assassin was captured and died in captivity…The other escaped the Crusaders’ grasp. This is the story of Aya’s first assignment. This is the story of the day she truly became… Hashashin (Chronology: Takes place in April 1192).

Tales from Nottingham #1 is set to debut February 1, 2023.

Maverick and Mad Cave Studios announce Paper Planes

Maverick and Mad Cave Studios have announced Paper Planes, an original graphic novel from writer Jennie Wood and artist Dozerdraws, publishing May 1, 2023.

High schoolers Leighton Worthington and Dylan Render have always been inseparable, but when they’re both shipped off to a summer camp for troubled youth in the aftermath of a tragic event, their lifelong friendship is put to the test.

Neither ‘chose’ to be there, but they’ll need a positive evaluation from the camp to avoid being sent away, so they can continue attending high school with their friends.

The challenges of camp pushes the once-inseparable Dylan and Leighton onto personal journeys of self-discovery that force them to re-examine the incident that threatens their futures, explore the friendship they have shared for so long, and discover the type of person each of them truly wants to be.

Edited by Erica Schlutz and lettered by Micah Myers, Paper Planes is slated for release May 2023 and is now available for pre-order.
