Lightbox Expo, an Annual Celebration of Art Launches in 2019

In 2019, celebrated character designer and illustrator Bobby Chiu and Emerald City Comic Con founder Jim Demonakos are launching LightBox Expo, a three day celebration of the visual arts in Pasadena, California. LightBox Expo (or LBX) will be a multi-faceted experience for everyone from aspiring artists and students, to professionals and fans, with a focus on animation, illustration and concept art.

An impressive range of artists, including Daniel Arriaga (Coco), illustrator Loish, Iain McCaig (Star Wars), Crash McCreery (Jurassic Park), Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, Ryan Meinerding (Marvel Studios), Karla Ortiz (Dr. Strange), Victoria Ying (Tangled), and illustrator Claire Wendling, are already confirmed as inaugural guests with more guests to be announced in the upcoming months. The event will be held from September 6-8, 2019 at the Pasadena Convention Center with tickets going on sale early next spring.

One of the missions of LightBox Expo is to ensure that the artists in attendance, from students to professionals, will be respected and treated fairly. To that end, an advisory council has been created, made up of some of the most experienced artists and studio representatives in the business, including Stephen Silver (Kim Possible), Justin Goby Fields (Ironklad Studios), Helen Mingjue Chen (Wreck-it Ralph), Ryan Lang (Big Hero 6), Renee di Cherri (Adobe), Douglas Little (Wacom), Christophe Lautrette (Kung Fu Panda), alongside previously mentioned artists McCreery, McCaig, Ortiz and Loish.

Viz Media’s Perfect Square Launches LBX (Little Battlers Experience)

VIZ Media delivers sci-fi battle robot action in a BIG way with the launch of the new manga series – LBX (Little Battlers Experience). The action kicks off in the first two volumes of the series from the company’s Perfect Square imprint on November 4th. Future volumes will each be released on a bi-monthly basis.

LBX (Little Battlers Experience) is a hot new action/sci-fi/mecha property based on the LBX video game, a series of role-playing action games created by Level-5, with manga, an anime, and planned forthcoming toys and games debuting this fall.

Created by Hideaki Fuji, the LBX (Little Battlers Experience) manga series is rated ‘A’ for All Ages. Volumes 1 and 2 will be released on November 4th and will be available will a print MSRP of $9.99 U.S. / $12.99 CAN each.

Welcome to the world of Little Battlers eXperience! In the near future, a boy named Van Yamano owns Achilles, a miniaturized robot with super strong power. But Achilles is no ordinary LBX. Hidden inside him is secret data that Van must keep out of the hands of evil at all costs.

In Volume 1, “The New Dawn Raisers,” Van loves Little Battlers eXperience, also known as LBXs, the hottest toy in present-day 2050. And it’s kind of cool that his dad invented them! But now a secret organization is coming after Van to procure the secrets that might be hidden inside his own LBX robot, Achilles!
