NYCC 2024: The Walking Dead Universe News – Dead City returns Spring 2025

The Walking Dead Universe took over New York Comic Con’s Main Stage this past weekend with panels for The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol.

The Walking Dead: Dead City season two panel featured the Walking Dead Universe Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple, executive producers and stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan, and cast members Gaius Charles, Željko Ivanek, and Dascha Polanco and was moderated by Chris Jericho. During the panel, which debuted a new season two teaser and photography, it was announced that the highly anticipated second season will return in Spring 2025 on AMC and AMC+. 

Immediately following, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez moderated a panel for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol, featuring Gimple, executive producer showrunner David Zabel, director and executive producer Greg Nicotero, executive producersand stars Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, and cast member Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, who discussed the show’s epic second season, currently airing  Sundays on AMC and AMC+. The opening minutes of the season’s fourth episode, which premiered this past Sunday, October 20 at 9 pm ET/PT on AMC and AMC+, were shown in-room. New photos from season two are also available. 

The Walking Dead: Dead City follows fan-favorite characters Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) as they travel into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror. In season two, in the growing war for control of Manhattan, Maggie and Negan find themselves trapped on opposite sides. As their paths intertwine, they come to see that the way out for both is more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol picks up where season one left off, following fan-favorite characters Daryl Dixon (Reedus) and Carol Peletier (McBride). They both confront old demons while she fights to find her friend and he struggles with his decision to stay in France, causing tension at the Nest. Additionally, Genet (Anne Charrier)’s movement builds momentum, setting Pouvoir on a violent collision course with the Union of Hope in the fight for France’s future.

THE WALKING DEAD” SEASON 2 KICKS OFF WITH AN EXTRA HALF HOUR OF ZOMBIE DRAMA

90-MINUTE PREMIERE EPISODE AIRS ON AMC, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16, 9PM ET

New York, NY – September 1, 2011 – AMC’s critically acclaimed original series, “The Walking Dead,” is back with its much anticipated second 13 episode season. Kicking off a two week long Fearfest, the network will once again present viewers with a 90-minute premiere episode, airing at 9 PM ET on Sunday, October 16th, with six one-hour episodes in the weeks following. The final six episodes of the season will commence on Sunday, February 12th at 9pm ET.  The 90 minute version will also be launched globally on all Fox International Channels, following the US premiere the week of October 17th-23rd. Season two will reach FOX audiences in 122 countries, speaking 35 languages and will be seen by over 200 million households globally.

In conjunction with “The Walking Dead,” beginning with the February 12th airing, will be the recently announced unscripted series “Secret Stash” executive produced by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy, Mall Rats), Charlie Corwin from Original Media (LA Ink, Miami Ink, Storm Chasers and Swamp People) and Elyse Seiden (Red State).

“The Walking Dead” follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln (“Love Actually,” “Teachers,” “Strike Back”), who are traveling in search of a safe and secure home. Jon Bernthal (“The Pacific,” “The Ghost Writer”) plays Shane Walsh, Rick’s sheriff’s department partner before the apocalypse, and Sarah Wayne Callies (“Prison Break”), is Rick’s wife, Lori Grimes.  Additional cast include: Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Jeffrey DeMunn, Chandler Riggs, Iron E. Singleton and Melissa McBride. Recently announced guest stars include: Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson and Pruitt Taylor Vince.
