SDCC 2013: Diamond Select to Offer Comic-Con Exclusive Star Trek Starship!

Everybody remember where we parked! San Diego Comic-Con has long been the home to all levels of Star Trek fandom. From casual fans to die-hard cosplayers, every degree of Trek fan is in attendance. And while Diamond Select Toys always has something new to show off to Trekkies at the show, it’s been a while since they offered an exclusive Trek product to attendees. Well, the wait is over!

This year’s Comic-Con exclusive will be a fully cloaked Klingon Bird of Prey, a variation on the most recent electronic starship from Diamond Select. As seen in numerous Star Trek films as well as the Next Generation TV series, the cloaked Bird of Prey is cast entirely in transparent plastic, and has had all of its electronics removed, rendering it virtually invisible! Like the regular edition, it measures 12 inches long with a 19-inch wingspan, but it comes with a transparent display base as well as translucent landing gear, so you can land it in the public park of your choice.

The ship has be limited to only 200 pieces made, and will only be available at the Diamond Select Toys booth, #2607, in a window box, for the price of $60.

A Variant on the Klingon Bird of Prey Ship De-Cloaks!

When Diamond Select began developing the first alien ship in their electronic Star Trek ship series, they knew that they couldn’t just make one version of the iconic Klingon Bird of Prey. The ship has such a rich film history that to pick just one appearance would be an affront to its honor! So while the Star Trek VI version of the Bird of Prey is out in stores now, DST has created a special Star Trek III version exclusively for Action Figure Xpress!

Cast entirely in translucent green plastic to simulate the ship’s cloaking effect, this new edition of the Bird of Prey features dialogue from the third Star trek film, The Search for Spock, as spoken by the ship’s captain, Commander Kruge (played by Christopher Lloyd). It also features film-accurate lights and sound effects, and, like the regular edition, comes packaged in a “Try Me” window box so customers can enjoy the electronics mint-in-package. Both versions of the Bird of Prey measure 19 inches wide by 12.5 inches long and come with a display stand. Check out the photos and video below, and order yours today!
