Judge Dredd Returns to Live Action on the Small Screen

Its been announced that Judge Dredd will be getting a new live-action adaptation, this time on the small screen. IM Global and Rebellion have teamed up for a new television show called Judge Dredd: Mega City One. The series is set in a future where the East Coast of the United States has become one giant megalopolis filled with crime where a team of Judges (future cops) are empowered to be the judge, jury, and executioner.

The character has had two live-action versions. The first was in 1995 with Judge Dredd, Sylvester Stallone played the title character. In 2012 Karl Urban took over the role in Dredd. Though that film didn’t do well at the box office, it has built a cult following due to its solid adaptation of the material. It has also led to movements to bring more stories featuring the character to the screen with numerous rumors that was the case over the years.

No casting has been announced.

The character was created in 1977 by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra and first appeared in the comic anthology 2000 AD.

A poster for the show has been released which you can see below.
