The road to the biggest Rick & Morty event the Omniverse has ever seen begins with Rick and Morty: Finals Week – SheRick Holmes and Mortson #1 by multiple Emmy Award nominee Daniel Kibblesmith and fan-favorite artist Priscilla Tramontano — the first of five interconnected, oversized and bi-monthly one-shots from an all-star cast of cosmic talents past, present, and future! Featuring covers by Priscilla Tamontano and Phil Murphy, as well as the first of five interlocking incentive covers by Marc EllerbyFINALS WEEK’s first ginormous, 40-page epic – on sale February 21, 2024 – launches with a time-traveling misadventure that will reverberate across the entire Rick and Morty publishing line for years to come!

The worst week of Morty’s life starts right . . . NOW! It’s Monday, and Finals Week is off to a terrible start. Morty needs a little time off from adventuring in order to study . . . until Rick announces it’s time for them to team up like that other great literary duo: Sherlock Holmes and Watson. Transported to a locked-room murder mystery in space, Morty suspects Rick isn’t looking to spend time with his Watson, but rather find his own Moriarty . . .

And that’s only Monday… Across 2024, watch in glee as Morty – and his test scores – suffer as each day of FINALS WEEK builds toward an inescapable turning point for the Rick and Morty omniverse! Across 2024, get ready for a new (and satisfyingly hefty!) 40-page installment of FINALS WEEK to land on stores shelves every other month as Oni Press lays the groundwork for a major cosmic crucible for Rick, Morty, and a literal cast of gazillions in the year ahead:

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Survival Street?!

A candy coating of pop culture madness, humor, and cartoonishly absurd hyper-violence is heading to comic shops soon with Survival Street from Dark Horse Comics! Dashed with just enough hope to keep you holding on, Survival Street is an action satire written by five-time Harvey Award nominee James Asmus and Jim Festante, drawn and inked by Abylay Kussainov, colored by Ellie Wright, and lettered by Taylor Esposito.

After an unbridled wave of corporations take over America the country is left completely deregulated. It is effectively carved up into feudal states where billionaires and businesses make their own laws. Among the wreckage, mass privatization shuts down public broadcasting, forcing all the beloved edu-tainers out on the dirty streets. A group of them sticks together, determined to keep helping kids across the country–and to do it by becoming an A-Team-esque band of mercenaries fighting for (and educating!) kids in the crumbling, corporate war zone of New Best America.

Survival Street #1 (of 4) will be available at comic stores August 3, 2022 and is available for pre-order at your local comic shop. It is recommended for ages 14 and up.

Wouldn’t childhood have been cooler if your class could take field trips to other dimensions, to learn about infinite possibilities or strange phenomena?

NO. Because some kid would inevitably BREAK the machine and leave you trapped in an eternity of tripping between dimensions, each getting horribly and irrevocably transformed by the bizarre terrors along the way! (Assuming you’re among the survivors.)

But… at least there’s juice boxes?

Review: Field Tripping #1

Field Tripping #1

Take the concept of the much-beloved Magic School Bus and have it go off the rails. Field Tripping #1 delivers the beginning of a school field trip across dimensions from hell.

Co-created by James Asmus, Jim Festante, and José García the comic has a dark humor about it. Taking a child’s program and twisting it delivers a result that feels like an homage, a parody, and a black comedy. There’s something very subversive about it all. Twisted is really a perfect word to describe the series.

Armed with a magical school bus that hops them through dimensions, something goes wrong taking the school trip on a wild ride. Seven years later, they’re still lost. There have clearly been losses and a hell of a lot has happened. Asmus and Festante deliver a second half of a comic that leaves you begging to find out more as to what happened in those seven years.

The art by José García is great. There’s a style that fits the “kid like” material but has a slight offness about it. Like the story itself, the art has so much detail and tells some of what happened. There’s so many small things to check out, it adds to the comic and is as vital to telling what has happened as the dialogue. This is a perfect example of showing not telling but in this case the show is all teases as to what has happened.

Field Tripping #1 is a fantastic debut. The comic is one of the most entertaining of the week with a sly sense of humor that has fun with taking a kids concept and making it a bit more… adult.

When a flighty teacher with a mysterious bus takes her young students on field trips into parallel dimensions to illustrate different lessons, she fails to realize that it’s a horribly dangerous idea and that children break everything they touch. The machine breaks and leaves them stranded, jumping between bizarre worlds but never seemingly able to go back to their own.

Seven years in the future the surviving kids are now teenagers – wildly transformed by the worlds they’ve visited but seemingly unable to grow up and take responsibility for themselves. That is, until a surprise vendetta upends their routine and forces the kids to step up and act like adults for the first time.

Field Tripping is a coming of age story full of nostalgia, heartfelt moments and characters with unique personalities that readers can empathize with, including the most carefree and the grumpiest of them all. So, buckle up and get ready to head back to school!
