Manga Mirai Debuts its First-Ever Official English Translations from To Books

Manga Mirai has announced the exclusive launch of the first-ever official English translations from publisher To Books, debuting with I Want to Be Pampered by the Marquis of Ice! ~Reincarnated as a Girl with a Depressing Story~, The Monster Life of The Freshly Grafted: The Comic, and other titles. Available first on Manga Mirai , these early releases mark a major step in the platform’s mission to connect U.S. fans with both popular favorites and hidden gems while providing a safe, official alternative to fan translations.

In addition, Manga Mirai will begin distributing works from J-Novel Club, expanding access to popular titles already beloved by fans. Highlights include Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill and A Wild Last Boss Appeared!, both of which will premiere as anime in Fall 2025. By adding J-Novel Club to its platform, Manga Mirai reinforces its role as a destination where fans can discover Japanese manga and stories in one place.

This expansion underscores Manga Mirai’s growing role in the industry, connecting fans with established favorites while opening doors to previously untranslated works. By offering official translations, the platform promotes the purchase of licensed content by U.S. readers and provides a direct way to support both the works and their creators.

Manga Mirai is also wrapping up its October VIZ Media campaign, which offers all volumes of SPY×Family, My Hero Academia, One-Punch Man, and Ranma ½ (2-in-1 Edition) at 50% off through October 31. The campaign, running alongside the addition of To Books and J-Novel Club titles, continues Manga Mirai’s efforts to highlight both hidden gems and iconic series—making it easier than ever for readers to explore a wide range of Japanese stories in one place.

J-Novel Club Announces Print Distribution Arrangement with Hachette Book Group, Diamond Book Distributors via Yen Press

J-Novel Club

J-Novel Club LLC has announced its entry into an ongoing sales and distribution agreement with Hachette Book Group via a new partnership with Yen Press for J-Novel Club’s physical book catalog. Beginning July 1, 2024, all J-Novel Club frontlist and backlist titles will be distributed by Hachette in North America. International sales will be handled by Diamond Book Distributors.

Below is a released FAQ as to what this means.

What does this mean for current branding?

While all books will be listed for solicitation under Yen Press’s “JNC” imprint and appear in Edelweiss as Yen Press/JNC, on-book branding for titles produced directly by J-Novel Club will continue to feature the full J-Novel Club and J-Novel Heart logos. Titles produced by Yen Press under the “JNC” imprint will continue to use the simplified JNC logo.

How does this affect stock and inventory?

Retailers globally can continue ordering all J-Novel Club titles – including all June 2024 new releases – through 30 June 2024, after which inventory will be migrated to Hachette’s warehouses. This may lead to delays in order fulfillment for both retailers and customers while the transport and ingestion of catalog titles continues. July 2024’s new releases are already registered with Hachette Book Group and are available for preorder.

Why don’t I see new volumes out as far as before?

J-Novel Club has switched to a system of rolling solicitations. Each month, new volumes in production will be solicited for retail. This allows to more flexibly schedule new releases, as well as allowing us to provide increasingly accurate metadata such as page numbers.

How does this affect J-Novel Club’s digital offerings?

This arrangement is only for print editions in English and has no impact on J-Novel Club’s digital offerings.
