Injustice: Gods Among Us is now in stores, but fans now know who the first Injustice DLC character will be—Lobo.
Yes, when the world’s as troubled as it is in Injustice, it was only a matter of time before bounty hunters came calling. And when it comes to rounding up super-humans, no one’s better than Lobo.
I wasn’t quite expecting this one, but not only are we getting Injustice: Gods Among Us on April 16 but now there’s a portable version for iOS also by NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros.
Instead of one-on-one battles between DC’s greatest heroes and villains, players assemble a mixed team of three characters and run them through a series of tap-and-swipe battles. Your finger controls the fighting with taps and finger swipes.
Fighting is only half the battle here. This Injustice: Gods Among Us is more collectible card game than fighter. The characters in your party are represented by trading cards, which gain levels and power as your battle. As you play you unlock enhancement cards, hero-specific items than enhance their powers in combat — Catwoman’s claws, for instance. There are also support characters to collect, non-combat characters whose mere presence in your collection adds to your team’s stats.
You can unlock characters and items by fighting your way through and earning coins or just pay for stuff. But, the game doesn’t have multiplayer and it’s free, so get to fighting.
According to Joystiq, players will be able to unlock and share items between the mobile and console versions of the game, so players planning on buying the console game can get a leg up on the competition.
The Injustice: Gods Among Us demo is now live on PSN and Xbox Live. Also released are items for avatars associated with the game on the Xbox Live Marketplace. There’s many available items from characters such as Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman such as logo shirts, etc, there’s two that have stood out as they hint at two more playable characters not yet announced. The costumes for Killer Frost and Ares can be seen below.
Every other available costume is for one of the game’s many playable characters, there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing these two in game as well, maybe as future downloads, maybe as unlockable items.
I can’t wait for the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us to hit shelves in April. Here’s Black Adam with his alternate costume. He joins the massive amount of playable characters.
