Review – Fraggle Rock #1

Bookmark and Share

Fraggle Rock #1 by Archaia is clearly written for children and when reviewing that it’s often difficult to keep that in mind.  But, I’ll do my best to be fair and think if a kid would enjoy the comic.

The first issue consists of three stories, each with their own lessons to impart.  The first sees Gobo and Red having a adventure on a dare from Red.  The rest of the Fraggles must band together to save them from a Gorg.  The story is cute and it’s clear what the lesson is to work with your friends and that stubbornness can get in the way.

The second story has a watch landing in the Fraggle world and Red using it to time games for the other Fraggles to play.  The lesson here is simple as well, just because something is fun for you, doesn’t mean it’s fun for others.

The third story makes fun of some modern inventions as Red has a brilliant idea and makes her own version of a Segway.  I’m not quite sure what the lesson here is other than some Fraggles have ADD.

The stories are cute and simple and definitely aimed at children, the youngest might enjoy.  If you’re looking for a comic for a young child, this isn’t a bad option.  Check out below for our ratings.

It’s time to dance your cares away as Archaia and The Jim Henson Company invite you to return once again to Fraggle Rock! Join Gobo, Mokey, Wembley, Boober and Red for a brand-new series of hilarious and heartfelt adventures written and drawn by some of the most imaginative creators in comics. Whether you’re a fan of the original series or new to the world of the Fraggles, this is one title you don’t want to miss. Just watch out for Gorgs!
