SDCC 2026: New Gundam Anime Series to Debut

Gundam is landing at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026. Bandai Namco Filmworks Inc. will unveil a brand-new Gundam anime series at the “GUNDAM Showcase 2026 – Unveil the Next Gundam” panel, backed by a dedicated booth featuring the upcoming Gundam anime, GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT, a video game title just announced in June, and a free GUNPLA building workshop on the show floor. Exclusive giveaways await both panel and booth attendees.

GUNDAM Showcase 2026 – Unveil the Next Gundam

Special guests from Japan take the stage to reveal the new anime series and map out what’s next for Gundam at this exclusive panel.

The Gundam Live-Action Movie Production has Begun

Legendary Entertainment and Netflix, in partnership with Bandai Namco Filmworks, have officially announced the start of production of the live-action Gundam movie, the highly anticipated feature adaptation of the globally iconic franchise. Production began this month in Queensland, Australia. 

Written and directed by Jim Mickle, the new film stars Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo. The expansive cast also includes Jackson White, Shioli Kutsuna, Nonso Anozie, Michael Mando, Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Ida Brooke, Gemma Chua-Tran, and Jason Isaacs.

For over 47 years, Gundam has stood as the defining mech franchise: the original giant robot phenomenon that inspired a global multimedia movement. Now, it’s coming to life as an original live-action adventure that follows rival mech pilots fighting on opposing sides of a decades-long war between Earth and its former space colonies. As shifting allegiances and a growing threat set them on a collision course for one another, they’re pulled into a high-stakes race across the stars that could decide the fate of humanity. With awe-inspiring battles, intimate human emotion, and epic cinematic scale, this is Gundam like it’s never been seen before.

Gundam, which will be released by Netflix, is produced by Legendary Pictures in partnership with Bandai Namco Filmworks.

Mickle will produce with his partner Linda Moran through their company Nightshade, alongside Cale Boyter, Ali Mendes, Sydney Sweeney, Noah Centineo and Enzo Marc. Executive producers are Matthew Jenkins, Makoto Asanuma and Naohiro Ogata.

Gundam Assemble launches October 2026

Gundam Assemble brings the popular model kits and property to the tabletop in a miniature game and now we know we can expect to start seeing it later this year. We didn’t know when or what we can expect, but we now have a better idea of the initial waves when it releases.

Multiple products have been revealed for the initial launch including starter sets and expansion.

Gundam Base Mobile USA Tour

The Gundam Base Mobile USA Tour has been going on tour across the United States. It kicked off in August and goes through October and features exclusive items, photo ops, a Gundam Statue, workshop, video games, and VR experience. It’s a must for fans of Gundam fans!

This weekend, the tour stops in Glen Allen, Virginia at Hobbytown Glen Allen before heading to Georgia for its next two stops.

With the tour already having traversed the eastern half of the country, this weekend’s stop will feature a restock of previously sold out limited edition and tour exclusive items. Fans are encouraged to show up early and expect that many (if not all) of these items may sell out again. We’re excited to have the scoop on a list of items that may not last the weekend!

What is S.H. Figuarts?

A new standard in action figures representing the state of the art Tamashii Nation design technology. Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt Out November 15th

mobilesuitgundamthunderbolt-gn01VIZ Media unleashes a fresh take on the classic Gundam universe with the release of Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt on November 15th.

The new manga series created by Yasuo Ohtagaki delivers an action-packed, character-driven story set in the distant future where the forces of the Earth Federation fight to quell an uprising by the rebellious Principality of Zeon. The preeminent weapons in this struggle are massive robots with human pilots called Mobile Suits.

Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt will be published in print under the VIZ Signature imprint and is rated ‘T+’ for Older Teens. Volume 1 will carry an MSRP of $14.99 U.S. / $19.99 CAN. Future volumes will be published on a quarterly basis.

In the Universal Century year 0079, the space colony known as Side 3 proclaims independence as the Principality of Zeon and declares war on the Earth Federation. One year later, they are locked in a fierce battle for the Thunderbolt Sector, an area of space scarred by the wreckage of destroyed colonies.

As the first volume opens, two veteran Mobile Suit pilots leap into this maelstrom of destruction: the deadly Zeon sniper Daryl Lorenz, and Federation ace Io Fleming. It’s the beginning of a rivalry that can end only when one of them is destroyed. The lightning-streaked debris fields are about to become the stage for an epic duel where death is the only true winner.
