SDCC 2024: Marvel Contest of Champions celebrates 10 years and teams with Google Play to take rewards to new heights

Marvel Contest of Champions, the hit mobile action game from Kabam, and Google Play are teaming up during San Diego Comic-Con – kicking off the game’s 10th Anniversary celebrations this year – to reward Google Play Points members with a supercharged fan experience, both at the convention and online on Google Play.

Introducing the Google Play WHEEL OF CHAMPIONS – a larger than life prize wheel rising high above the skyline from July 25-28 at the Martin Luther King Jr Promenade, located next to the Hilton Gaslamp in San Diego. 

At the Google Play WHEEL OF CHAMPIONS fan experience, playing is your ticket to ride! Guests will play an exclusive Marvel Contest of Champions quest in line to earn a seat on the 80-foot ferris wheel, before they soar above the San Diego convention in gondolas featuring iconic Super Heroes and Villains. 

All Comic-Con badgeholders can enjoy the ride, take home an exclusive Google Play x Marvel collector’s pin, and have the chance to score epic prizes. Silver+ Play Points members can pre-register for a Hero Pass on Google Play to unlock VIP access to the experience and even more exclusive collectibles as a thank you for being part of the community.

Weekly Shonen Jump Manga Magazine Launches On Google Play

Previously, readers could only access Weekly Shonen Jump on the Google Play store via the VIZ Manga App or through the Android-based Weekly Shonen Jump App. Manga fans can now purchase single issues of Weekly Shonen Jump directly from Google Play/Google Books for $0.99 (USD) each. A backlist catalog offering 1 month of previously released issues will also be available.

Manga series currently featured in Weekly Shonen Jump include One Piece, My Hero Academia, One-Punch Man, Boruto, Black Clover, Blue Exorcist, Food Wars!, The Promised Neverland, Red Sprite, Seraph of the End, World Trigger and Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V. Weekly Shonen Jump also regularly gives readers an advance peek at other hot new series debuts in Japan with special Jump Start features throughout the year.

Weekly Shonen Jump is published digitally each week by VIZ Media and features the latest chapters of some of the world’s most popular manga series released to English readers across North America as well as the U.K., Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, India, the Philippines and Singapore on the same day as the magazine’s general print release in Japan. Archie is proud to announce a new partnership with Google Play. Fans will be able to obtain direct access to Archie and Archie-licensed comics anywhere the Google Play store is available.

 The official launch date for Archie Comics on Google Play is Thursday, April 18th, with over 500 periodical titles available. Archie, Betty and Veronica, Life with Archie, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, New Crusaders, plus an array of Digital Exclusives, including the bestselling anniversary edition of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, are just a few examples of Archie titles that will be offered through the Google Play Books app. To kick off this initiative, from launch until April 30th users can purchase select back issues of every Archie title on the app for only $0.99.
