Baltimore Comic-Con Adds Artist/Musician Billy Martin

Vitriol by Billy MartinThe Baltimore Comic-Con has announced the addition of artist/musician Billy Martin to the growing list of talented guests attending this year’s show. The show will be held at the Baltimore Convention Center the weekend of September 7-8, 2013.

Billy Martin, a native of Annapolis, MD, is probably best known as the lead guitarist of the band Good Charlotte. But, in addition to creating his music, he is currently drawing and co-writing Vitriol, The Hunter for IDW Publishing. As his first foray into comics, Vitriol is a six issue series that brings together grisly, gothic horror with sci-fi adventure set in the year 2127 in the fictional city of Basilika. The series follows the journey of Basilika City’s last great hope, Vitriol, as he stands as the only force that can stop Lord Barthus and his heinous vampire regime from overtaking the city.

In addition to drawing and co-writing the series, Martin is also produced a soundtrack inspired by the themes and setting of Vitriol. Under the name Villain, Martin has been creating remixes, as well as writing and producing music for other artists. The soundtrack has been made available for free download inside the first issue of the comic.

Although IDW is exhibiting at show, Billy will be set up in Artist Alley, at table #A340.

IDW Presents Vitriol The Hunter

[Vitriol the Hunter #1]Coming this February, IDW Publishing is launching Vitriol The Hunter, an all-new comic book series co-written by Good Charlotte guitarist Billy Martin and Brent Allen, featuring interior art by Martin.

They own the night… they yearn for the day! In this gothic sci-fi adventure, Martin and Allen bring a new grisly horror to life. Set in the fictional city of Basilika in 2127, this six-issue series narrates the journey of Basilika City’s last great hope, Vitriol, as he stands as the only force that can stop Lord Barthus and his heinous vampire regime from overtaking the city.

Additionally, Martin is producing a soundtrack inspired by Vitriol The Hunter. Under the name Villain, Martin has been creating remixes, as well as writing and producing music for other artists. This will be his first official release of original music as Villain, showcasing his dynamic mix of electronic music with traditional film score. The special soundtrack for Vitriol will be available for free download inside the comic.

Gene Simmons and Coldplay got into the action and we can also add Good Charlotte guitarist Billy Martin. A graphic artist, clothing designer and guitarist, Martin will now turn his talents to comics. IDW Publishing announced Vitriol The Hunter, an all-new comic book series co-written by Martin and Brent Allen, featuring interior art by Martin.

Scheduled to launch in early 2013, Vitriol The Hunter is co-created by Martin and Allen, and draws on the folklore and old monster myths prevalent in today’s society, twisting them into a macabre-style story reminiscent of classic horror movies crossed with futuristic fantasy. A self-proclaimed vigilante, Vitriol embarks on a mission to protect his homeland from the malicious monsters that have overtaken it, led by a brutal tyrant vampire.
