Eisner and Harvey Award nominated writer, Nate Cosby, and artists Scott Brown and Ruairi Coleman have been named as the new creative appointed to helm the latest series from Dynamite Entertainment, Fruit Ninja. Slated to launch September 6th, the series is based on the popular mobile game developed by Halfbrick, with well-over a billion downloads world-wide, across all gaming platforms!
In this juicy new series, the Fruit Ninjas have mastered the art of Juice Jitsu (no, really) which unlocks hidden powers through the slicing of fruit (seriously), so they can protect their neighbors from time-traveling super-villains! Fruit Ninja #1 will also feature two-bonus stories including an ancient Fruit Ninjas tale from a thousand years ago, as well as a wild and high-flying Jetpack Joyride story!
The debut issue of Fruit Ninja features cover art from interior artist, Scott Brown, as well as a game play option! Limited variant editions in “Black & White” and “Virgin” formats are also available as retailer incentives for comic shops that support the launch issue by achieving stocking thresholds.
Fruit Ninja #1 is slated for release in September.
Ape Entertainment along with Halfbrick Studios, developers of Fruit Ninja, announced a new licensing agreement to create a series of original digital comic books and graphic novels based on the game that has been downloaded over 300 million times. The comic series will explore the yet untold backstory of the juicy Fruit Ninja universe and its new colorful characters.
Halfbrick has released Fruit Ninja for iPhone, Android, Facebook, Xbox 360 Kinect and countless other digital platforms. The starring characters Sensei, Gutsu and Truffles have been featured on a wide range of licensed products including T-shirts, Gummy Candy & Fruit Snacks and Toys and Games.
Ape Entertainment plans to release the full-color comic book series digitally through a standalone Fruit Ninja comics app on the App Store as well as print versions in the coming months.
