Free League Publishing has announced a publishing partnership with Italian games studio Two Little Mice (2LM) for its award-winning cinematic action RPG Outgunned, published under the Free League Workshop sub-label for externally developed games.
The Outgunnedcore rulebook is now available in the Free League webshop, alongside the expansions Action Flicksand World Of Killers, the mini-campaign Project Medusa, and a Director Screen.
Outgunnedis a cinematic action RPG inspired by classic action and heist movies. In Outgunned, you play as a group of Heroes struggling against a Villain to try and save the day. Always outnumbered. Always outgunned.
Outgunnedfeatures a game system called Director’s Cut; a set of mechanics using small pools of six-sided dice to determine the outcome of the Heroes’ actions. When rolling dice, your goal is not to score the highest or lowest possible number, but to roll two-, three-, and four-of-a-kind.
During its Kickstarter campaign last year, Outgunnedquickly gained traction in the roleplaying community. It exceeded its €10,000 goal and raised an impressive €286,323, unlocking all stretch goals.
Free League Publishing has released three classic adventures, reimagined and collected in Dragonbane’s first campaign book: Path of Glory. The gloriously illustrated hardback book is now available in the Free League webshop (in print format and as a full content module for the Foundry VTT), in PDF format at DrivethruRPG, and in hobby stores everywhere.
Path of Glory was the first major adventure campaign for the original Swedish edition of the Dragonbane RPG (Drakar och Demoner), released in three installments between 1985 and 1986: The Dead Forest, Gates of Power, and Heart of Darkness. The rules are fully updated to the latest edition of Dragonbane, and the book includes a large, double-sided map painted by Francesca Baerald in format 432x558mm.
This modern edition ofPath of Glory, reimagined and updated by Free League and original author Roger Undhagen, collects the trilogy in a single full-color hardback edition featuring completely new illustrations by David Brasgalla and new cover art by Johan Egerkrans. It is available in a Standard Edition and a Collector’s Edition with a faux leather cover and gold foil printing.
Free League Publishing has previewed some of the new content included in their upcoming “Evolved Edition” of ALIEN: The Roleplaying Game, revealing that the new Core Rulebook will feature settings, spacecraft, and gear from the newest installment in the franchise, ALIEN: Romulus.
Working in collaboration with 20th Century Studios, Free League welcomes players back to Jackson’s Star all on their own with a host of new gaming resources, including an in-depth exploration of the mining colony, the new F44AA Pulse Rifle, and the USCSS Corbelan IV mining hauler spacecraft. Today’s preview included a new pulse rifle illustration from John Mullaney and official artwork of Jackson’s Star from Col Price, one of the concept artists who designed the unforgettable colony seen on screen.
For more news and previews, fans should follow the Kickstarter campaign page, which has been renamed ALIEN: The Roleplaying Game Evolved Edition – hitting home that this is not a new game, but rather a faithful evolution of the original ALIEN RPG fans know and love. In fact, the updated rules are largely based upon feedback from thousands of players over the past five years and counting. Alongside the updated rules, the Evolved Edition (E2) will also feature more new content, new artwork, and a sundry of new tools for players and Game Mothers alike, all fully compatible with all released materials thus far.
The launch date for the Kickstarter campaign has also moved to Spring 2025, so that Free League can bring more ideas from their community to the game table. Since the news broke at Gen Con, more fans continue to share suggestions and support for the updated rules, which has further inspired the design team to deliver what players want and ensure that the Evolved Edition is bursting with all fans want to see.
The official retail release of ALIEN: The Roleplaying Game Evolved Edition remains slated for Fall 2025, with the new Core Rulebook debuting alongside the following releases – all made available via the upcoming Kickstarter next Spring:
The new Starter Set has been redesigned as the perfect starting point for newcomers to roleplaying in the ALIEN universe, containing everything players need for game night including the abridged E2 rules, character sheets, custom dice, reference cards, various handouts, and an expanded edition of the Hope’s Last Day scenario set on Hadley’s Hope just prior to the events of ALIENS.
The new cinematic scenario boxed set, Rapture Protocol returns to the roots of the ALIEN franchise, following the crew of a small star freighter on a resupply run to the remote industrial colony, soon embroiled in a deadly conflict.
The heroic scale miniatures set designed to bring the events of Rapture Protocol to life, with all miniatures fully compatible with other adventures throughout the ALIEN RPG series.
Ahead of the Kickstarter campaign later this fall, Free League has shared the first new content reveal for ALIEN The Roleplaying GameSecond Edition. Today, let’s take a look at some brand-new maps for the game.
These large, detailed, full-color maps are designed to scale for the new RPG miniatures that are also part of the upcoming Kickstarter, as well as the expanded stealth mode in the updated game rules. Using these maps, the miniatures, and the updated rules, ALIEN The Roleplaying Game Second Edition can even be played as a miniatures skirmish game.
The maps shown below, designed by acclaimed map artist Miska Fredman (Astraterra), show two decks of the USCSS Fidanza, a Nostromo-style spaceship, and the mining colony Jeremiah VI. Both are included in the new cinematic adventure Rapture Protocol.
Cross the threshold, adventurer, and delve deep. The gates have opened for adventurers to enter the depths of Khazad-dûm. Free League Publishing has officially released the epic campaign expansionMoria – Through the Doors of Durin for the multiple award-winning second edition of The One Ring roleplaying game based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. The expansion was also be released in a version for the 5E edition The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying, under the title Moria – Shadow of Khazad-dûm.
Both versions of this epic expansion are now available in the Free League webshop (here and here), in PDF format at DrivethruRPG (here and here), and soon if not already in retail stores worldwide.
Set in the years before Balin’s doomed expedition, Moria – Through the Doors of Durin contains a hoard of Patrons, Landmarks, foes, encounters and treasures that a Loremaster can use to construct their own adventures in Moria – from a single desperate journey in the dark to a grand campaign to retake Durin’s Halls.
For long ages, the great city of the Dwarrowdelf was the seat of Dwarven kings. Deep they delved beneath the roots of the mountains in search of Mithril, the fabled Moria-silver. Wonders they wrought there, by the light of crystal lamps. But a thousand years ago, Durin’s Bane arose and drove the Dwarves from their halls. The city fell into darkness, becoming an abode of Orcs, Goblins – and worse.
But now, there is hope! Countless Orcs perished at the Battle of Five Armies, and it may be the Halls of Durin lie empty once more, waiting to be reclaimed by those with the courage to face the long dark under the mountain. Maybe there are piles of treasure there, waiting to be claimed. Maybe Mithril still glimmers in the mines under Caradhras.
Moria – Through the Doors of Durin includes:
And At The Gates, The Trumpets Rang: Rivals, allies and patrons in the quest for Moria, as well as a history of the Dwarven city from its founding to its fall.
Journeys in the Dark: Journey rules adjusted for underground exploration, Moria-specific Undertakings, and advice on running games and campaigns set in the city.
Fell Foes lists the Orcs and other enemies that may be found in the city – and rules for risking an encounter with Durin’s Bane.
The Mansions of the Dwarves is the largest part of the book, describing Landmarks and hazards in the various regions of Moria.
Moria – Through the Doors of Durindescribes the city of the Dwarves and the surrounding lands as they were in the last years of the Third Age. For each region of Moria, we describe Landmarks, factions and non-player characters that the Loremaster can use as desired.
There is no ‘true’ Moria — in one game, maybe the great quest of the heroes is to loot the fabled Treasure Vault of Uruktharbun. In another, the treasure vault might have lain broken and empty for a thousand years; in another, it never existed at all. Moria is to be explored cautiously; even the Wise cannot trust their memories in this place.
