Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania opens with a series best

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Marvel is proving that they have a winning brand, no matter word of mouth or critic reviews. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has opened with $106.1 million despite very mixed reviews. The film has only 47% from critics ad 84% from the audience as of writing this article. That’s some of the worst reviews for any Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

The opening is the best of the trio of Ant-Man films. The original opened in 2015 with $57.2 million domestically and went on to earn $519.3 million worldwide. That’d be a $72.3 million opening and around $656 million in today’s dollars. The sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, opened with $75.8 million in 2018 and went on to gross $622.7 million. The film has a bit of a breather with competition with just Cocaine Bear opening on February 24 having any chance to topple the film next week, but it’d have to be one hell of a showing and drop. The film doesn’t have much competition until mid-February with just Puss in Boots: The Last Wish geared towards kids and Babylon, Oscar bait, standing much of a chance of making a dent.
