Crowdfunding Corner: MonsterVision Comic Tales Starring Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy

Dynamite Entertainment is bringing the drive-in experience straight to fans! The brand-new MonsterVision comics saga starring Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl in its complete graphic novel glory is live now on Kickstarter for fans to reserve for their reading!

The peerlessly charismatic genre host and his powerhouse co-star take readers on an exhilarating, monster-hunting expedition brimming with campy B-movie scares, abundant referential nods, and a groundbreaking twist that fundamentally reshapes their iconic partnership. Fans excited for the story can get it through this avenue to receive the complete five chapter fable in one deluxe package, and with exclusive extras not being offered anywhere else!

The story is scripted by writer David Avallone, who brings his horror-host expertise over from prolific contributions to the tales of Elvira: Mistress of the Dark. He’s a master of the macabre, a prodigy of pulp, and crafter of camp who’s the perfect fit for the Lone Star State’s foremost film critic and superstar of schlock and screams. Avallone’s experience with Elvira as well as other delightful dames like Bettie Page makes him a perfect fit for the fan-favorite Darcy the Mail Girl as well. Joining him in the drive-in journey is artist Edu Menna, known for hit titles like Alice Cooper, KISS, and Vampirella.

Fans who pledge for the Kickstarter within its first 72 hours will also receive an exclusive FREE MonsterVision trading card!

The graphic novel can be secured as a paperback, hardcover, as well as editions signed by writer David Avallone, Darcy, or Joe Bob. Fan-favorite artist Ken Haeser will also be doing exclusive one-of-one remarques on books. Other add-ons that will only be available through the Kickstarter are high quality lithograph prints.

Master of the Drive-Ins Joe Bob Briggs Stars in MonsterVision Comics!

Grab a cold one, pull up a lawn chair, and get ready for some Texas-style horror comedy antics! Dynamite presents MonsterVision, a brand-new comic book series launching this December starring drive-in icons Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl.

The beloved genre host and his kick-ass co-star invite readers along on a deep-fried, monster-hunting adventure filled with B-movie horror, endless Easter eggs, and a game-changing revelation that will turn their classic dynamic on its head.

Writer David Avallone brings his horror-host expertise from Elvira: Mistress of the Dark to these brand-new MonsterVision adventures. His deep knowledge and love for all things pulp, camp, and macabre are the perfect match for the Lone Star State’s most esteemed critic of schlock and screams.

Avallone is joined for this artistic road trip through rodeo country by artist Edu Menna. He’s no stranger to capturing monsters and real life horror, with credits on comics starring Alice Cooper, KISS, and Vampirella.

The pair are collaborating to bring the ultimate toast to B-movie madness, with parodies of classic horror films and a celebration of the life and career of Joe Bob Briggs and his own special mythos.

No modern misadventures of Joe Bob Briggs are complete without his dedicated co-star Darcy the Mail Girl. It wouldn’t be an Avallone epic without a shameless, badass heroine in the cast.

Darcy also stars on stunning photo covers for the series. Dave Acosta, another veteran of horror host comics, illustrates the instantly iconic lead cover and is joined by Kewber Baal and Robert Hack with a genius homage to the heyday of horror film posters. Fans can even get a special edition of Acosta’s cover featuring dual signatures from Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy or a mystery blind bag featuring the rarest exclusive variations on these covers and more.

Joe Bob Briggs is a celebrated film critic, writer, actor, comic performer, and one of the world’s foremost horror hosts. He is known for Joe Bob’s Drive-In Theater on The Movie Channel from 1986 to 1996, the TNT series MonsterVision from 1996 to 2000, and The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs beginning in 2018 on Shudder/AMC. Now, his unique approach to film, comedy, and horror comes to comics!

The drive-in will never die, but Dynamite recommends readers secure their copies of the comics with their Local Comic Shops by preordering and adding it to their pull lists. Vampirella in Paradise… Or Not? Tom Sniegoski’s Next Saga Starts November!

The Daughter of Drakulon has faced death and rebirth, and lived to tell the tale. Now this November, Tom Sniegoski‘s three decades and running chronicles of Vampirella continue in Paradise.

Fan-favorite writer Sniegoski and artist Edu Menna reunite for the next chapter in this continuity which has put the raven-haired anti-heroine through the ringer in recent years. At the finale of the preceding series Vampirella Armageddon, Almighty God bestowed upon Vampi a wondrous gift — yet the dreamlike paradise she finds herself in is not what it seems.

Classic foes from her rogues gallery return, as the Mad God of Chaos and the Blood Red Queen of Hearts haunt and corrupt this new world. It’s up to Vampirella to unfold the darkness as she is called to battle once more!

Sniegoski is approaching this latest chapter through a unique lens, following Armageddon which served as a final, apocalyptic battle between light and darkness. That chapter brought some things full circle, tying up certain key themes and threads that have run through his Vampirella works going back to the early 1990s. Now Paradise answers a crucial question — what if Vampirella finally caught a break? But of course, it’s not quite that easy… so where will the most prolific creator in Vampirella’s history take her next?
