Vault Comics and Matt Dinniman Announce Dungeon Crawler Carl Ongoing Comic Book Series

Vault Comics and Matt Dinniman have announced a Dungeon Crawler Carl ongoing comic book series. Available in comic book stores everywhere beginning in January 2027, the Dungeon Crawler Carl comic book series will serialize the smash-hit webtoon written by Matt Dinniman and Tevagah, with art by Laurel Pursuit Studios and Kuzomari, now with scaled up art that will fit the comic book page. Vault has already released two collected volumes of the series as well as a zero issue. You can check out our review of the first volume, second volume, and Dungeon Crawler Carl #0. The new format sounds like a slightly reformatted another bite at the apple and after how many variant covers Dungeon Crawler Carl #0 has seen (over 230 of them), this move is not a surprise.

The Dungeon Crawler Carl ongoing series will feature a line of main A covers by the legendary Nathan Gooden. Variant covers will be drawn by a rotating cast of all-star artists, including the likes of Ryan Ottley, Brett Bean, Frank Cho, Clayton Crain, Yoshi Yoshitani, Katie Cook, Riley Rossmo, Tyler Walpole, Doug Mahnke, Trish Forstner, Todd Beats, Tony Moy, and beloved Dungeon Crawler Carl novel cover artist, Luciano Fleitas. More top-flight cover artists will be announced in the coming weeks and months. 

Dungeon Crawler Carl is the #1 New York Times-bestselling LitRPG novel series by Matt Dinniman. With over 19 million copies sold, Dungeon Crawler Carl follows Coast Guard vet Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they try to survive the end of the world—or just get to the next level—in a video game-like, trap-filled fantasy dungeon. A dungeon that’s actually the set of a reality television show with countless viewers across the galaxy. In 2026 it was announced that Peacock officially greenlit the Dungeon Crawler Carl TV series from Universal International Studios and Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door. The writer’s room is already in progress, with Chris Yost (Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok, and Disney+’s The Mandalorian), and Eric Heisserer (Arrival, Bird Box) as co-show runners.

Dungeon Crawler Carl #1 will be a double-sized 48 page issue that will hit store shelves in January, 2027, then subsequent issues in the series will be released on a monthly schedule.

NYCC 2026: Transformers! G.I. Joe! Turok! Skybound Visions Is HERE!

At New York Comic Con, Skybound Entertainment, Image Comics, Hasbro, and Universal announced “Skybound Visions,” a new line of standalone, limited comic series featuring reimaginings of pop culture icons, exploring who those characters are – and who they can be. 

Bringing together the biggest comic characters and the biggest creators, Skybound Visions issues will tell complete, evergreen stories showcasing new sides of these beloved icons. Their stories serve as perfect jumping-on points for new readers, while also rewarding lifelong fans.  

The Skybound Visions line will launch in 2027 with Transformers: Bumblebee – Lost Planet in January, G.I. Joe: The Island of Dr. Mindbender in February, and Turok: Son of Stone in March. Each issue will be printed on deluxe newsprint, and feature variant covers by top talent.  

Transformers: Bumblebee – Lost Planet by writer Tate Brombal and Matt Emmons, colorist Giovanna Niro, and letterer Becca Carey arrives in comic shops on January 27, 2027. 

After a devastating Decepticon attack, Bumblebee is stranded on an uncharted planet. Lost in the galaxy, with no way to call for help, the so-called “weakest of all the Autobots” must tackle the biggest mission of his young life. But beneath its surface, this strange planet holds a secret that’s already begun to corrupt and change its indigenous life. Now, the Autobots’ greatest hope must come from the evolution of its most unexpected warrior… if Bee can survive being hunted by the deadliest Decepticon of all!

Then, just one new comic book day after Transformers: Bumblebee – Lost Planet #1 debuts, G.I. Joe: The Island of Dr. Mindbender by writer Karl Kerschl and Doug Mahnke, inker Jaime Mendoza, colorist David Baron, and letterer Tom Napolitano lands in stores on February 2, 2027.  

The last team of Joes sent to the Island of Dr. Mindbender never came back… Now, Codename: Flint must return to active duty to lead a fresh batch of recruits to the isolated compound of a madman. A mad scientist who’s grown madder every year–and his creations more monstrous. In the deadliest mission of his career, Flint just wants to rescue his old friends and get back to his family. The first Gold Key character in Skybound Visions, Turok: Son of Stone by writer Stephen Graham Jones and Leandro Fernández, and colorist Lee Loughridge with letterer Tom Napolitano hits comic shops on March 10, 2027.

Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro have revealed interior pages and the lineup of variant covers Transformers #23, the two-time Eisner Award winning series from writer Daniel Warren Johnson, artist Jorge Corona, colorist Mike Spicer, and letterer Rus Wooton. The next chapter of the tentpole Energon Universe story will be available on shelves in comic book shops on August 13, 2025.
