Don Rosa Returns to Baltimore Comic-Con in 2025

Don’t miss the 26nd annual Baltimore Comic-Con at the Inner Harbor’s Baltimore Convention Center on October 17-19, 2025. The Baltimore Comic-Con has announced the return of one of the world’s most famous comic stars, Don Rosa. Tickets to the show can now be purchased online.

Well known in American comics fandom since the 1960s for his vast comic book collection and comics fanzine activities, Don Rosa became internationally famous starting in 1987 when he began writing and drawing Uncle $crooge and Donald Duck comics for various licensed publishers in Europe. Just as they once were in America, Donald Duck comics (based on Carl Barks’ work) continue to be the best selling comics in Europe and South America where the weekly (!) Donald Duck comics have been read by hundreds of millions of fans for over 70 years. This makes Rosa one of the world’s best known cartoonists, but still very easy to visit with at American shows where he can relax in “relative obscurity”.

American comics fans are mostly familiar with his most famous work, the Eisner Award winning Life and Times of $crooge McDuck series. But American fans can also now see his entire Duck comics career reprinted chronologically in the new Don Rosa Library from Fantagraphics. Rosa has quit producing new Duck comics due to several reasons, but he stays very busy with signing tours to Europe, visits to American comic cons, and his many hobbies including growing exotic chiles, of which he is even now probably giving away bags in the convention hall.

Rodney Barnes is an award-winning writer, producer, and comic book creator whose vibrant and emphatic creative voice has established him as a Hollywood mainstay.

Barnes was most recently an executive producer and writer for HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, which chronicles the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Showtime Lakers during the team’s wild and fast-paced golden years.

Barnes has a number of projects in different stages of development, including writing an adaptation of Chris Leslie-Hynan’s novel Ride Around Shining in development with Jonah Hill’s Strong Baby with LaKeith Stanfield attached to star, writing a miniseries based on the life of golf great Tiger Woods, and writing and executive producing HBO’s Jack Johnson limited series, starring Mahershala Ali.

In addition to TV, Barnes is a veteran comic book creator who earned an Eisner Award nomination for his critically acclaimed graphic novel Killadelphia, which now has a television show in development at Levantine TV. Barnes recently launched his own comic studio and publishing imprint, Zombie Love Studios, a creative space dedicated to storytelling from BIPOC perspectives in unique formats, among which include the graphic novels Blacula—an adaptation of the cult horror classic, Monarch—an apocalyptic sci-fi adventure series following a group of Compton school kids, Nita Hawes’ Nightmare Blog, Elysium Gardens, Johnny Gatlin, and 20° Past Rigor. Barnes has also penned issues for existing series Army of Darkness, James Bond Himeros, Marvel/Lucasfilm’s Lando: Double or Nothing, Lion Forge’s Quincredible, and Marvel’s Falcon and Secret Empire.

Keith Champagne is a veteran writer/artist/inker best known in the comics industry for his decades of work with DC Comics on titles such as JSA, Green Lantern, Superman, and many more. His creator-owned titles include The Mighty (with Peter J. Tomasi) and The Switch: Electricia. Current projects include Stranger Things, Neon Future, and Frank N. Stein: Private Eye. He enjoys Swedish Fish.

Ron Garney, over the course of his established thirty-five year career, has built a large fan following, illustrating some of the industry’s greatest characters, such as The Amazing Spider-Man, Incredible Hulk, Silver Surfer, X-Men, JLA (for DC), Captain America, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, G.I. Joe, Skaar: Son of the Hulk, Wolverine, Ultimate Captain America, Uncanny X-Force, Thor: God of Thunder, his creator-owned Men of Wrath, Daredevil, Savage Sword of Conan, and is currently working with film legend Keanu Reeves on the comic BRZRKR, which has also been picked up for a live action film and anime series on Netflix. Ron has been nominated twice for the industry’s coveted Eisner Award for Best Artist and Best Serialized Story (Captain America) and an Inkwell nomination for BRZRKR. Ron has also worked in the film industry, notably on I Am Legend (starring Will Smith) as costume illustrator and did illustrating for Marvel’s Netflix series, Daredevil. He is also a songwriter and musician, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blackbelt and instructor, and resides in Connecticut with his wife and four children. Bob Hall had a long association with Marvel Comics, where at one time or another he drew most of the major books and characters such as The Champions, Spider-Man, Dr. Doom, Conan, Thor, The Fantastic Four, The Submariner, Captain America, PSI Force, The Avengers, and The New Mutants. He was the artist for the West Coast Avengers mini-series and was the primary artist on the original Squadron Supreme. He drew movie adaptations of Willow, Dark Man, and the notorious first Captain America movie, as well as pencils and inks for the graphic novel, Emperor Doom. Bob was an editor at Marvel in 1979. For Valiant, he wrote and penciled the monthly series Shadowman, wrote Timewalker, and then created Armed and Dangerous, a black and white “comicbook-noir” series. For DC, he wrote and drew the Batman graphic novel projects Batman DOA, I Joker, and It’s Jokertime. Recently, he has been creating educational comics that have tackled measles, mosquitoes, COVID-19, and vaccine hesitancy. Carla Speed McNeil is the author and artist of Finder. She started working in comics in 1997 and hasn’t stopped since. She has also worked on a variety of projects like providing art for Queen & Country: Operation: Stormfront from Oni Press, adapted and drew Pendragon: The Merchant of Death (based on the prose book by D. J. MacHale) for Simon & Schuster, and drawn fan-favorite Frank Ironwine for Apparat/Avatar, as well as two pages of Transmetropolitan for DC/Vertigo, both by Warren Ellis. Bad Houses was released in 2013 by Dark Horse Comics, after which she began a long series of collaborations with writer Alex De Campi, including Ashes, My Little Pony (IDW), and No Mercy (Image) beginning April 2015. Other smaller projects have included drawing Legends of Red Sonja (Dynamite), the short story “Here. In My Head” (with writer Elizabeth Genco) for Comic Book Tattoo from Image, and shorts in notable anthologies such as The Sleep of Reason and Cautionary Fairy Tales of Africa. She has won an Eisner Award, Ignatz Awards, the Kim Yale New Talent Award from Friends Of Lulu, the L.A. Times Book Prize for graphic novel in 2012, and three Stumptown Comic Arts Awards.

Finder, the science fiction series Carla Speed McNeil started in 1996, was “born” in Maryland, and so were her two kids and three cats. She and her husband were born and raised in Louisiana, but we’ve lived here longer than we ever lived there, which is a funny thought sometimes. The Baltimore Comic-Con is happy to announce the return of comic artists and writers Richard Case, Kristina Deak-Linsner, Mike Hawthorne, Michael Joseph Linsner, and Don Rosa attending our 2022 event. Get your tickets now and avoid waiting in additional lines upon your arrival!

Richard Case has been drawing comics professionally for quite some time. In addition to illustrating Grant Morrison’s run on Doom Patrol, he has contributed to titles like Dr. Strange, Sandman, Shade the Changing Man, Sensational Spider-Man, and Batman ’66. Most recently, he worked with Peter Milligan on a modern-day adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s Fall of the House of Usher, wherein the House in question is the White House…

Artist, creative editor, writer, reference model, all-purpose Joe-wrangler at Linsner, and founder of lightisthenewdark art studios, Kristina Deak-Linsner has brought her years of fine art experience in the west coast gallery scene over to the house that Dawn built. After beginning her comics career at Dynamic Forces in the late 90’s, she now uses her keen eye to help guide all Linsner products and projects such as: Sin Boldly, the Dawn and Vampirella crossover series, as well as Linsner’s annual Dawn sketchbooks (2011 to present). The graphic novel Dawn and Vampirella brings her comics career full circle by working with Dynamite/Dynamic Forces once again. In 2018 she worked on the Vampirella series, Roses For The Dead.

Joseph Michael Linsner is most well-known for his creation Dawn, who first appeared in the self-published Cry for Dawn in 1989 and followed by numerous series at Sirius. He is also the creator of several other characters, including Sinful Suzi in Sin Boldly, released in December 2013 by Image Comics. He has worked on Dawn/Vampirella through Dynamite Entertainment, Justice League Quarterly and Harley Quinn at DC Comics, Killraven, Mystique, and Claws at Marvel Comics, and he drew the cover of the Image Comics one-shot Witchblade/The Punisher #1. Of late Linsner has provided covers for Dynamite Entertainment’s Jennifer Blood, Red Sonja, Bettie Page & the Curse of the Banshee, Dejah Thoris vs. John Carter of Mars, DIE!namite Lives!, The Invincible Red Sonja, and Sonjaversal.

Mike Hawthorne has provided the artwork for various comics, including a record setting run on Deadpool as well as Daredevil, Spider-Man, Hulk, Superman, and more. His work has been nominated for Harvey and Eisner Awards. Outside of comics, Mike has done storyboard and conceptual art for Epic Games, Marvel, Fox, Illumination, and Universal. Archaia/BOOM! Studios recently published his autobio-comic Happiness Will Follow.

Don’t miss the 22nd annual Baltimore Comic-Con at the Inner Harbor’s Baltimore Convention Center on October 22-24, 2021. The Baltimore Comic-Con has announced the return of one of the world’s most famous comic stars, Don Rosa. Tickets to the show can now be purchased online.

Well known in American comics fandom since the 1960s for his vast comic book collection and comics fanzine activities, Don Rosa became internationally famous starting in 1987 when he began writing and drawing Uncle $crooge and Donald Duck comics for various licensed publishers in Europe. Just as they once were in America, Donald Duck comics (based on Carl Barks’ work) continue to be the best selling comics in Europe and South America where the weekly (!) Donald Duck comics have been read by hundreds of millions of fans for over 70 years. This makes Rosa one of the world’s best known cartoonists, but still very easy to visit with at American shows where he can relax in “relative obscurity”.

American comics fans are mostly familiar with his most famous work, the Eisner Award winning Life and Times of $crooge McDuck series. The Baltimore Comic-Con features many comics luminaries, including industry award winners Cliff Chiang, Jamal Igle, David Petersen, Don Rosa, Joe Staton, and Mark Waid! VIP, General Admission, and Fan Experience Tickets are now on sale.

Cliff Chiang began his career as an assistant editor at DC’s Vertigo imprint before moving into freelance illustration. His previous work includes runs on Human Target, Green Arrow & Black Canary, Wonder Woman with Brian Azzarello, and the Eisner Award-winning Paper Girls, co-created with Brian K. Vaughan. Cliff is currently writing and drawing a book for DC’s Black Label.

Jamal Igle

A recipient of the 2011 Inkpot Award for Outstanding Achievement in Comic Art, Jamal Igle is the writer/artist/creator of Molly Danger for Action Lab Entertainment. The co-creator of Venture with Dynamo 5 creator/writer Jay Faerber and the penciller/co-creator of The Wrong Earth for AHOY Comics, Jamal is a comic industry veteran. Jamal’s detailed pencils have graced books as varied as The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas and the all ages action miniseries Race Against Time, as well as mainstream hits such as G.I. Joe, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Green Lantern. Jamal has served as the series artist for popular runs on Firestorm the Nuclear Man, Nightwing, Tangent: Superman’s Reign, Superman, Supergirl, and Zatanna for DC Comics, Noble Causes for Image Comics, and a four-issue run on New Warriors for Marvel Comics. He’s done just about everything from acting on the small screen and voiceovers for commercials, packaging books for Scholastic, and serving as storyboards artist for Roughnecks: Starship Trooper Chronicles and Max Steel: MX1 for Sony Animation. Jamal is also a popular guest lecturer on the subjects of comics and animation. Currently, Jamal is working on White, the sequel to the hit series Black from Black Superpowers/Black Mask Studios, coming late Summer 2019.

David Petersen

David Petersen is a cartoonist and children’s book illustrator who launched his career with a self-published issue of his series Mouse Guard in 2005, when it was then picked up by Archaia, who continues to publish the Eisner and Harvey Award-winning series. Petersen has also worked on covers for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Dark Crystal. He’s illustrated an edition of Kenneth Grahame’s Wind in the Willows for IDW and his artwork also graced the cover for the 2012 Baltimore Comic-Con program, as well as the show-exclusive t-shirt. In 2008, David won the Eisners for Best Publication for Kids (Mouse Guard Fall 1152 & Winter 1152) and Best Graphic Album – Reprint (Mouse Guard Fall 1152 Hardcover). In 2010, he was nominated for a Harvey Award for Best Artist (Mouse Guard: Winter 1152).

Don Rosa

Eisner Award-winning Don Rosa can hardly be mentioned without evoking images of Walt Disney’s Donald Duck, Scrooge McDuck, and the rest of the Duck family. Heir apparent to Carl Barks as the Duck master, he was responsible for approximately 90 stories before his retirement from working with Disney in 2006. You can see his beautiful contributions in IDW’s Don Rosa’s The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, Vol.1: Artist’s Edition.

Joe Staton

Joe Staton has been drawing comics since he started working for Charlton Comics in 1971, where he co-created E-Man and Michael Mauser. Though the bulk of his work has been for DC Comics, at last count, Staton has worked for at least 30 publishers and 100 different editors. Among his many comics credits are Action Comics, Green Lantern, The Legion, Classics Illustrated, and various incarnations of Batman. During his time on Green Lantern, he co-created several GLs, including Kilowog, Arisia, and Salakk. He also designed GL Guy Gardner’s “bad boy” look. More recently, with his writer-wife Hilarie, he produces medical comics such as Pete Learns All About Crohn’s and Colitis and Amy Goes Gluten-Free. In 1998, he received the Eisner Award for his work on World’s Finest: The Superman-Batman Adventures. He penciled over 100 issues of the Cartoon Network’s Scooby Doo comic. He illustrated a graphic novel adaptation of Ayn Rand’s Anthem for NAL and a graphic biography of Ronald Reagan. Since 2011, working with writer Mike Curtis, Joe has been the regular artist for the long-running Dick Tracy newspaper strip (available online). Dick Tracy received Harvey Awards in 2013, 2014, and 2015 for Best Syndicated Strip or Feature.

Mark Waid

The multiple Harvey and Eisner Award-winning Mark Waid has been the voice behind dozens of series that have resonated throughout comics fandom and the creative community alike. His more acclaimed runs include DC Comics’ The Flash, Kingdom Come, JLA: Year One, JLA, Legion of Super-Heroes, and Superman: Birthright, Marvel Comics’ Captain America, Fantastic Four, Amazing Spider-Man, The Indestructible Hulk, and Daredevil, BOOM! Studios’ Incorruptible and Irredeemable, Archie Comics’ Archie, and his creator-owned works Empire and Potter’s Field. He currently serves as Publisher (U.S.) at Humanoids.

Long-time friend of the show, Harvey and Eisner Award nominee, and guest since the convention started in 2000, artist and writer Steve Conley has contributed to numerous comic titles, both printed and on-line. His Astounding Space Thrills was self-published, published by Image Comics, and collected as a trade paperback by IDW. He has been featured in titles such as JLA-Z from DC Comics, Star Trek: Year Four from IDW, and Michael Chabon’s Amazing Adventures of the Escapist from Dark Horse Comics. Best known as writer and artist for his Usagi Yojimbo  title, Stan Sakai first created and published it in 1984, launching in Albedo, a self-published anthology, followed by an appearance in Critters from Fantagraphics in 1985, and finally as its own series from the same publisher in 1987, all in black & white. In 1993, Usagi made the jump to color at Mirage Publishing, and moved to Dark Horse in 1996, where it remains to this day. Nearly 30 years of Usagi Yojimbo have seen print in book, TV, and digital formats.

The Baltimore Comic-Con returns to the Inner Harbor in 2014 for its premiere inaugural three-day event the weekend of September 5-7 at the Baltimore Convention Center!

Baltimore Comic-Con Road Show Continues
Continuing his 2012 road show, this weekend, Baltimore Comic-Con promoter Marc Nathan brings the Baltimore Comic-Con back to his neighbors to the south — Northern Virginia!  Marc will be attending the Shoff Baseball & Sports Card Shows & Comic Book & Nonsports Card Show this Sunday, March 11th.  Stop by to chat with Marc about the show, and pick up some comics and cards while you’re there!  Marc will also have Exhibitor and Artist Alley forms for this years convention on September 8th and 9th.
