The season finale of DC’s Legends Hey, World! starts off with all the rescued magical creatures that were being held captive by the Time Bureau roaming free on the Wave Rider. Nora in full fairy godmother regalia is roaming hell trying to rescue a tortured Constantine while Charlie is forced to let a monster loose during a Senate hearing to boost Neron’s app downloads and, grade school aged Zari is living her best, bully-free life as the proud owner of a baby dragon.

Thanks to a newly rescued Charlie the team learns that Neron has changed his end game and plans on using human fear, instead of the apps collected from his soul-sucking app to break his army out of hell. In an attempt to usurp Neron’s power grab and get back Atom’s soul Constantine and Nora seek out the one that got away and gets her to join forces with them to take Neron down.

While Gary helps Mona take care of the ravenous magical creature the rest of the team tries to figure out a way to defeat fear itself. Kid Zari’s dragon video starts getting more hits on the internet than the fearmongering does give the team the idea of bringing Heyworld to life. Astrid uses Constantine as a way to break out Roy’s soul coin so they can save him and Astrid uses the chance to rob the vault of all the soul coins she can carry. While running simulations Gideon discovers that if they build Heyworld, Zari’s parent survive and she never becomes a Legend and she gets her family back while Sara figures out a way that she doesn’t get separated from the Legends or Nate. Constantine and Nora show up to collect Ray but, since he’s such a ray of sunshine, he has managed to make friends with his torturer, and former nemesis, and has been playing giant Jenga and living his best fun-filled life in the pits of hell.

As part of the marketing plan, half of the  Legends dress up as other DC heroes for a commercial to get people to come to Heyworld , Charlie and Nora try and rally the ships current monster residents to come out and help by showing the more “human” aspects of themselves. With Ray’s soul coin collected and Constantine free they return with Nora to the ship and fill Sara and Nate in on a plan B to get Ray back that would have grave consequences for Nate. Using Rory’s magical book,  Nate and Zari have a touching moment before bringing Heyworld to life.

With Heyworld open, and people showing up in their superhero finest, the bait, and switch of magical beings for superheroes. Their stage show gets a little violent when a dragon shows up on Nero’s orders to stop the show. A fight breaks out between Sara and the with formerly known as the fairy godmother and when the dragon sets up to kill Sara, little  Zari shows up and commands him to dance and when Tabitha tries to attack her the dragon decides Neron’s love is a tasty snack. Neron in retaliation opens up the portal and releases his hordes. In an effort to save the team and the world, Nate and Constantine switch bodies so when Neron kills Nate in his Constantine suit, the deal becomes null and void and while Nate is dead, Ray’s soul coin is allowed to be put back in his body. Zari, forgoing staying with the team leaves the temporal zone to be with her love as he dies and ghost Nate watches from the rafters with his dad where they have a beautiful heart to heart leading to a beautiful sing along between the Legends and some of the magical creatures, endearing them to the humans and dissipating the fear. Using a sing-along, holding hands, some Tinkerbell-esque magic and Tabitha’s staff Nate’s soul is returned to his body but, the price is losing Zari who couldn’t stay away and let him die. In return Zari’s brother is now in Zari’s place and they have no memory of ZAri being a team member. Astrid turn in her coins and soul breaks a pocket full of some of the worst of the worst from history giving us some hope for a super dark but, hella interesting and fun season five and I for one can’t wait to see where this all leads.

I found myself nervous for the magical creatures when faced with the prejudice of humans, I also had a glimmer of hope for a cute little crossover but, I am happy to report that I was more than a little ecstatic about how things turned out, even without the superhero assist.  It was well written, beautifully acted, and a wonderful end to one of my favorite seasons of Legends. The show has a tendency to take things to the absurd but, they do it in such a way it’s almost believable making Legends one of my favorite shows on the CW line up right now. I can’t wait until the fall to see more of my favorite band of anti-hero misfits, especially knowing that Mary Tudor and Charlie Manson might be making an appearance.

For what this episode was and what it set up, I give this season-ending episode a hard 9.7
