While Gen Con has traditionally had a writer’s symposium, the best four days of gaming has gotten even better adding a writer’s track specifically for those interested in creating comic books.

Learn what it takes to become a professional comic book writer in this amazing series of free panels! Featuring Jim Zub, Bill Willingham, Chris Roberson, Daryl Gregory, and Gene Ha, this new program will give those who attend insight as what it takes to become a comic book writer.

Plus, get your comics signed at a special signing event in the Exhibit Hall on Thursday at 4 pm in the signing area.

To help kick off this new program they’ve invited a team of comic superstars including:

Jim Zub, creator of the Wayward comic series and writer for comics such as Figment and Samurai Jack
Bill Willingham, creator of the multiple Eisner Award winning Fables comic series
Chris Roberson, creator of the iZombie comic series (now a hit television show from CW)
Daryl Gregory, writer of the comics Legenderry: Green Hornet and Dracula: Company of Monsters
Gene Ha, four-time Eisner award winner and artist for Alan Moore’s Top Ten

Gen Con, the best four days in gaming, has gotten even better announcing a specific symposium featuring comic books during the convention! The largest and fastest growing educational writing event for authors of speculative fiction has just gotten better with the announcement of the first-ever Gen Con Writer’s Symposium Comic Writing Track. Gen Con visitors will have the chance to learn the tricks of the comic writing trade from some of the best writers in the business.

For more than twenty years, the Writer’s Symposium has helped writers of all levels develop their careers and strengthen their work. Offering more than two hundred hours of panels and workshops, the Symposium features professional authors and editors covering a wide range of important aspects of writing. Topics include key craft skills such as world building, plotting, and character development, business skills such as marketing and branding, and insight into the ever-changing world of both traditional and independent publishing. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for authors to connect with one another both professionally and socially.

This year the Symposium makes its program even better by launching its first Comic Writing Track. The program will play host to some of the best writers and artists in the business including:

• Daryl Gregory, writer of the comics Legenderry: Green Hornet, Dracula: Company of Monsters, and more
• Gene Ha, four-time Eisner award winner and artist for Alan Moore’s Top Ten
• Chris Roberson, creator of the iZombie comic series (now a hit television series from CW)
• Bill Willingham, creator of the Eisner Award winning Fables comic series.
• Jim Zub, creator of the Wayward comic series and writer for comics such as Disney’s Figment and Samurai Jack

The track will offer a dozen panels that will educate attendees on topics such as the writer-artist relationship, digital comics, serialized stories, and more.

This year, the Symposium will take place from July 30th through August 2nd at the Indianapolis Convention Center, Indianapolis, Indiana as part of Gen Con. Registration is currently open.
