Dark Horse announces $9.99 Compact Editions

Dark Horse Comics has announced a new, travel-sized way to read popular stories from creator-owned series and licensed titles with a line of compact editions coming to comic shops and bookshops beginning in May 2027. These new editions, priced at $9.99, are a convenient way to experience some of the best stories from The Witcher, Black Hammer, Cyberpunk 2077, and Canto to start, with more titles arriving in the future.

The Witcher Compact Edition: The Bear and the Butterfly and The Ballad of Two Wolves features one story about Geralt of Rivia on the hunt for a vampire, and another about a bloodthirsty werewolf plaguing the town of Grimmwald. The 200-page (5.5 x 8.5”) paperback arrives in bookstores and comic shops on May 25, 2027, for $9.99. Black Hammer Compact Edition: Secret Origins and The Event TPB collects the first two story arcs of the series when the old superheroes of Spiral City are mysteriously banished to a bizarre farm they can’t escape! Cyberpunk 2077 Compact Edition: Trauma Team and Psycho Squad is a mind-melting introduction into Night City with two stories of its most notorious specialty units. Crisis on Infinite Earths: DC Compact Comics Edition

Compact comics are a hit with more and more publishers moving towards the format which blends western trade collections with manga formatting.

They’ve been a great way to re-read amazing stories and also discover new ones in affordable and small releases.

2026 is wrapping up with some solid releases and 2027 is already looking great.

Vault announces Vampire: The Masquerade Compact Edition

Vault Comics’ Vampire: The Masquerade comic series will be returning to print in an all new compact edition, available on August 31, 2026 in comic shops everywhere, and September 1, 2026 in bookstores everywhere. The comics are based on the bestselling tabletop role-playing game published by White Wolf.

The complete compact edition includes all ten issues of Vampire: The Masquerade—Winter’s Teeth together with all three issues of World of Darkness: Crimson Thaw. Vampire: The Masquerade—Winter’s Teeth was written by Tim Seeley and drawn by Dev Pramalnik, with back-up stories written by Tini and Blake Howard and drawn by Nathan Gooden. World of Darkness: Crimson Thaw was written by Tim Seeley, Jim Zub, and Danny Lore, and drawn by Julius Ohta.

Later this year, Vault and White Wolf will announce more details of an all new Vampire: The Masquerade comic series coming from Vault in 2027.

SDCC 2026: Vampirella’s First Compact Comics Collection is Coming!

Dynamite‘s third release in its new line of affordable Compact Editions brings some of Vampirella’s most pivotal stories, driven by writer Kurt Busiek and other great creators. Vampirella: Kurt Busiek Collection Compact Edition is due for release this October.

Dynamite’s biggest Compact book yet features 480 pages for just $9.99. Presented at 5.5 by 8.5 inches, the book includes the classic 1991 Vampirella miniseries known as “Morning in America,” the Summer Nights special, and then the first four issues of the following series featuring “Dracula War.”

These comics were originally published by Harris Comics, prior to the Dynamite era for the character. Their tenure with the character and transition from the original Warren Publishing chronicles started here in these tales. In addition to superstar writer Kurt Busiek driving this reinvention, he’s joined by the earliest works of longtime Vampi scribe Tom Sniegoski, as well as artists Louis La Chance, Louis Small Jr., Dave Cockrum, James Fry, Richard Howell, and more.

Dynamite Entertainment has announced the first entry in a curated line of Compact Editions, offering some of the most revered storylines by fans and critics in an unbeatably affordable format perfect for new readers, sharing the medium, and those looking to try them out. It all starts this June with the debut of Pathfinder: Dark Waters Rising.
