Multiple Spawn Team-Up Variants Sell Out and Head Back to Print

This month’s Spawn team-up variants campaign struck the industry with a bolt of energy and Image will be rushing twelve of the covers back to print this week—with a slight color variation for added collectability—in order to keep up with customer demand.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Image Comics—and of Todd McFarlane’s iconic, history-making, record-breaking Spawn—and December’s Spawn team-up covers give fans the perfect way to celebrate the beloved character’s lasting impact and influence on the medium.

Blood Stained Teeth sinks into a new story arc in November

Popular horror/crime series Blood Stained Teeth by Eisner Award winning Christian Ward and Patric Reynolds will kick off an all new story arc this November with the release of issue #6. This highly anticipated interstitial story will feature the talents of guest artist Mack Chater and land on shelves this November from Image Comics.

This special standalone tale answers: Who is Dr. Beverly Phelps and why is she hunting the villainous First Born?

Blood Stained Teeth first launched to immense critical acclaim in April and follows main character Atticus Sloane—misanthrope, criminal, asshole, and vampire—who lives in a world where blood isn’t the only thing vamps crave. For the right price, he’ll make anyone a vampire too. After all, immortality isn’t cheap.

The series is the perfect read for fans of 100 Bullets and Killadelphia or any reader who enjoys a good crime comic with a vampiric twist.

Blood Stained Teeth #6 will be available at comic book shops and across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play, on Wednesday, November 2:

  • Cover A by Ward – Diamond Code JUL228254
  • Cover B by Michael Walsh – Diamond Code JUL228255

Mini Reviews: Knights, Leagues, BRZRKRs, and Blood Stained Teeth

Knights of X #1

Sometimes, the staff at Graphic Policy read more comics than we’re able to get reviewed. When that happens you’ll see a weekly feature compiling shorom the staff of the comics, or graphic novels, we just didn’t get a chance to write a full review for. Given the lack of new comics, expect this weekly update to begin featuring comics that we think you’ll enjoy while you can’t get anything new to read – only new to you.

These are Graphic Policy’s Mini Reviews and Recommendations.

Justice League #75 (DC Comics) – Setting up the next event Dark Crisis, the issue doesn’t feel all that exciting or epic. It’s just… off. Not sure why it doesn’t click but there’s something about it. It dives deep into DC history as one and the visuals, while good, don’t quite click like they should. Overall, this might be one to read as part of a trade when the event is over. Overall Rating: 7.0 Recommendation: Read

Blood Stained Teeth #1 (Image Comics) – A new twist on the vampire genre where this concept of familiars aren’t appreciated. The first issue is a little choppy with the narrative but overall it’s a good concept and start with some solid art. Overall Rating: 7.75 Recommendation: Read

The Last Mountain #1 (Comics Experience Publishing) – In this world fantasy creatures are real and lost a war. Now in camps, a few escape hoping to find freedom. With a lot of backup stories that deliver more depth of the world, it’s a hell of a start with some solid art and an amazing concept. Allegory in entertainment form. Overall Rating: 8.5 Recommendation: Buy

Punisher #2 (Marvel) – The second issue of the series dives into Frank’s past as we get a better idea of his motives. It feels like a bad retcon of the character’s past that kind of wrecks a lot of the tragedy. Overall, this might be a race as to which is the worst concept for the character but we’ll see where it goes. Overall Rating: 7.0 Recommendation: Read

Knights of X #1 (Marvel) – A solid mix of fantasy and what we enjoy about Marvel’s mutants. The art is fantastic, action solid, and overall a nice setup. It’s not necessarily anything new so far, but it’s executed really well blending two concepts for an exciting new direction. Overall Rating: 8.25 Recommendation: Buy

BRZRKR #8 (BOOM! Studios) – The series has veered in a very interesting way. It feels like it’s no longer focused on a man who can’t die and wants to find peace and straight into hardcore sci-fi territory. It’s all an interesting mix but a very interesting departure from the first half to the series. Overall Rating: 7.5 Recommendation: Read

Well, there you have it, folks. The reviews we didn’t quite get a chance to write. See you next week!

Please note that with some of the above comics, Graphic Policy was provided FREE copies for review. Where we purchased the comics, you’ll see an asterisk (*). If you don’t see that, you can infer the comic was a review copy. In cases where we were provided a review copy and we also purchased the comic you’ll see two asterisks (**).

Amazing Spider-Man #1 (Marvel) – It’s a whole new era with a new creative team to celebrate 60 years of Spider-Man!

Blood Stained Teeth #1 (Image Comics) – A new vampire series from Christian Ward and Patric Reynolds that sounds like it has a nice twist on the genre that fans can sink their teeth into.

BRZRKR #8 (BOOM! Studios) – We’re all in on this series that focuses on an immortal warrior who just wants to peace. The bloody action is perfectly mixed with the focus on the individual at the center of it all.

Dark Knights of Steel #6 (DC Comics) – The series has been a lot of fun taking classic characters and putting them in an Elseworlds fantasy story that delivers just enough twists to keep readers on their toes.

Justice League #75 (DC Comics) – This kicks off the next big event!

The Killer: Affairs of the State #3 (BOOM! Studios/Archaia) – The series has been excellent so far putting its main character where he doesn’t want to be, working for French Intelligence.

Knights of X #1 (Marvel) – Destiny of X has been solid so far launching the next phase of the X-line of comics and feeling like a nice evolution of everything that’s been laid out before.

The Naughty List #1 (AfterShock) – His name is Nicholas Sinterklass, and this is the story of what happens when you steal his Naughty List.

Past the Last Mountain #1 (Comics Experience) – Half a century ago, the United States rounded up and imprisoned all the fantasy creatures that live amongst us. Now, a faun, a dragon and an adorable troll boy have escaped confinement, and are on the run from the United States Army!

Punisher #2 (Marvel) – The first issue left us scratching our heads but we really want to see how this whole Punisher joins the Hand story plays out.

Retroactive (Humanoids) – An agent working for the U.S. Bureau of Temporal Affairs sets out to discover the source of several anomalies in the timeline-only to become imprisoned in an inescapable time loop.

Rogues #2 (DC Comics/DC Black Label) – The first issue was amazing as the down on their luck Rogues get back together for one last heist.

6000 Miles to Freedom (Graphic Mundi) – Taking real life experiences as inspiration, the story focuses on two boys attempting to escape the Taliban.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin #5 (IDW Publishing) – The highly anticipated miniseries wraps up and we’re excited to see how it all ends (and then want more).
