Fast X races to the top of the weekend box office

There’s a new champ at the weekend box office. Fast X took first, over doubling the next highest film. The movie grossed an estimated $67.5 million domestically and $199.8 million at the international box office for a worldwide debut of $267.3 million. That domestic opening is near the lower end of things for the franchise which has grossed anywhere from $40.1 million to $147.2 million. It is close to F9‘s $70 million in 2021 which went on to earn $726.2 million worldwide.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 slipped to second place with just under $32 million. The movie has grossed $266.5 million domestically after three weeks. Internationally, the film is rocking adding an additional $130.1 million to that total to bring it to $392.6 million and $659.1 million worldwide.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie came in third place with an estimated $9.8 million. Domestically the film has earned $549.3 million. Over the week, it added $5.7 million internationally to bring that total to $680.2 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $1.229 billion.

Book Club: The Next Chapter slipped to fourth place with $3 million to bring its domestic total to $13.1 million. It added about $680,000 internationally over the week to lift that to $3.8 million. Worlwide, the film has grossed $16.9 million.

Evil Dead Rise wrapped up the top five with $2.4 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $64.1 million. Over the week, the film added $10.5 million to bring its international total to $71.5 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $135.6 million.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods remained steady domestically where it has grossed $57.6 million. The film internationally remained at $75.8 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $133.4 million.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 holds on to first with a moderate drop

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 remained in first place at the weekend box office with an estimated $60.5 million. That’s a 48.9% drop from the previous weekend, which is pretty good when blockbusters tend to drop closer to 60%. It’s a sign of life for the recently struggling Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film has grossed $213.2 million domestically after two weeks. Over the week it added $94.4 million at the international box office to lift that to $262.5 million. Worldwide, the film ahs grossed $475.7 million. That has it nearly beating Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s entire domestic gross for the year as well as its international gross. It should pass both this Monday.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie held on to second place with $13 million lifting its domestic earnings to just under $536 million. Over the week, it added $37.3 million at the international box office to bring that to $674.5 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $1.210 billion making it easily the top film of the year.

Book Club: The Next Chapter debuted in third place with $6.5 million domestically and $3.1 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $9.6 million.

Evil Dead Rise slipped to fourth place with $3.7 million bringing its domestic total to $60.2 million. Internationally, the film grossed $17.3 million over the week to bring that total to $61 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $121.2 million.

Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. rounded out the top five with an estimated $2.5 million to bring its domestic total to $16.5 million.

Player 2 steps in as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 dethrones The Super Mario Bros. Movie at the weekend box office

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 took the weekend box office which wasn’t surprising at all. The film debuted with $114 million domestically and $168.1 million internationally for a debut of $282.1 million worldwide.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy debuted with $94.3 million domestically and went on to earn $773.4 million worldwide in 2014 while its sequel debuted with $146.5 million domestically and went on to earn $863.8 million worldwide in 2017. It’s a good guess that the third film will wind up somewhere between those two and has received good reviews from critics, 81%, and the audience at 95%. The audience reviews is the best of the series while critic reviews is the lowest of the trio.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was bumped out of first and came in second with $18.6 million domestically to lift that to $518.1 million. Internationally, the film added $104.7 million over the week to bring that to $637.2 million and $1.155 billion worldwide.

Evil Dead Rise slipped one spot to third adding $5.7 million to its total and bringing that to $54.1 million. Over the week, the film grossed $25.8 million internationally to bring that total to $43.7 million and the movie’s worldwide gross to $97.8 million.

Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. came in fourth place with $3.4 million bringing its domestic total to $12.6 million. There’s no international returns.

Rounding out the top five was John Wick: Chapter 4 with $2.4 million domestically. There it has earned $180.1 million. Internationally over the week the film remained at $226 million. It has now grossed $406.1 million worldwide.

It’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie‘s level, and we’re all just Goomba’s in it. The film was the weekend box office winner by a mile bringing in an estimated $40 million to bring its domestic total to $490 million. Internationally, the film added about $95 million to its total over the week to bring that to $532.5 million. It has now grossed over $1.022 billion and continues to be the top film of 2023 so far. The film is likely to drop this coming weekend as the latest Guardians of the Galaxy film opens.

In second place was Evil Dead Rise which remained steady in the spot despite dropping 50.2% from the previous week. The film added $12.2 million to its domestic total which is now $44.4 million after 2 weeks. The film just grossed $1.1 million over the week internationally to lift that to $17.9 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $62.3 million.

Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. debuted in third with $6.8 million domestically. No international numbers have been reported.

John Wick: Chapter 4 remained steady in fourth with $5 million to bring its domestic total to $176.2 million. The film gained $36.4 million internationally and now stands at $226 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $402.2 million.

The Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi re-release came in fifth place with $4.7 million and a little more than that since it opened.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie again took the top spot for the weekend box office making it the juggernaut film of 2023. The movie grossed $58.2 million in its third weekend a 36.9% from the previous week. The movie has now grossed $434.3 million domestically. Over the week, the film grossed $107.4 million internationally where it has now grossed $437.5 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $871.8 million. It is the top grossing film by far domestically and worldwide for 2023.

Evil Dead Rise debuted in second place with $23.5 million. It also grossed $16.8 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $40.3 million.

The Covenant debuted in third place with $6.3 million. No international gross has been reported.

John Wick: Chapter 4 slipped on spot to come in fourth place. The movie grossed $5.8 million to bring its domestic total to $168.9 million. The international total remained at $189.6 million for a worldwide gross of $358.5 million.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves moved into fifth place with $5.4 million to bring its domestic gross to $82.2 million. Internationally, the film has grossed $95.8 million and worldwide the movie has grossed just under $178 million.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was the weekend box office again, with a slight drop of 40.6% from the previous weekend. The film added $87 million to its domestic total to bring it to $347.8 million. Internationally, the film nearly doubled its first week gross over the week adding $157.1 million to bring that total to $330.1 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed just under $678 million. It’s now the highest grossing film domestically and internationally that was released in 2023.

In second place was The Pope’s Exorcist which debuted with $9.2 million. Internationally, the film did much better grossing $27.4 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $36.6 million.

John Wick: Chapter 4 slipped one spot to third grossing $7.9 million and bringing its domestic total to $160.1 million. Last week the international total didn’t change as of reporting but since our last reported amount, it’s gone up $67.6 million to $189.6 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $349.7 million.

Debuting in fourth place was Renfield with $7.8 million. The film also grossed $2.3 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $10 million. The film was based on an idea of Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead who was also a producer.

Rounding out the top five was Air which added $7.7 million to its domestic total to lift that to $33.3 million. Internationally, the film has grossed $20.8 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $54.1 million.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was the weekend box office to the shock of no one. How much it earned though… The film grossed $146.4 million over the weekend. Domestically, the film has grossed $204.6 million over five days. At the international box office, the film has grossed $173 million delivering $377.6 million worldwide. That’s the third highest domestic gross this year so far and second worldwide for movies released this year.

In second place was John Wick: Chapter 4 which remained in place. The film added $14.6 million to its total to bring its domestic earning to $147.1 million. The international total hasn’t changed as of this article and remains at $122 million for a worldwide gross of $269.1 million.

In a close third place was Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves which added $14.5 million to its domestic total which is now $62.3 million. Internationally, it added $28.8 million over the week to bring that to $61.8 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $124.1 million.

Air debuted in fourth place with $14.468 million to open with $20.2 million for its first week. No international total has been reported.

Scream VI wrapped up the top five with an estimated $3.3 million and bring its domestic total to $103.8 million. The international total has increased by $8.4 million to $57.8 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $161.6 million.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves rolls a natural 20 to win the weekend box office

If you had asked us when it was announced if Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves would be a success, we’d have told you no way. But, it looks like the rollout for the film was a huge success as it was the top of the weekend box office nearing projections. In the month leading up to the film, there were numerous early screenings showing a belief in the film and the want of word to mouth would drive the film. With a critic score of 90% currently and 93% from the audience, the film has got positive buzz driving it. Domestically, the film opened with $38.5 million and also earned $33 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $71.5 million. It’s an unexpected hit and it’ll be interesting to see how long it goes with tough competition coming this week with the new Mario Bros. film.

John Wick: Chapter 4 took a bullet to the knee it seems and fell to second place adding $28.2 million domestically to lift that total to $122.9 million. It added $58 million internationally to bring that to $122 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $244.9 million after two weeks.

His Only Son debuted in third place with $5.5 million. There’s no international gross reported.

Scream VI slipped one spot to fourth place adding $5.3 million to its total to bring its domestic gross to $98.2 million. The international total remains at $49.4 million and worldwide the film has grossed $147.6 million.

In fifth place was Creed III which added a little over $5 million to its domestic total to bring that to $148.6 million. Internationally, the film added $5 million over the week to bring that to $110 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $258.6 million.

Domestically, the film has grossed $53.5 million. Over the week, the film did better internationally where it grossed about $9.9 million to bring that to $66 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $119.5 million. It looks like this is going to be a rough one for DC films and one has to wonder how it might impact the release of The Flash and Blue Beetle, both releasing before the massive reboot coming.

It’s another weekend box office champ as John Wick: Chapter 4 debuted in first place. The film opened with an estimated $73.5 million. The first film debuted with $14.4 million 2014, the second with $30.4 million in 2017, and the third opened with $56.8 million in 2019. Internationally, the film also earned $64 million delivering a weekend total of $137.5 million.

Creed III improved a slot coming in second though still dropping from the previous weekend. The film grossed a reported $10.4 million to bring its domestic total to $140.9 million. Internationally, it added about $8.4 million to lift that total to $105 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $245.9 million.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods went from first to third with an estimated $9.7 million, a 67.8% drop. Domestically, the film has grossed $46.3 million. Over the week, the film did better internationally where it grossed about $21.1 million to bring that to $56.1 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $102.4 million.
