Horrors haunt the Christmas season as life-drained bodies litter the countryside, each marked with a strange symbol. The Justice League responds–but it’s a trap! The heroes are pulled from our world, but not before Batman helps Robin escape. Now Damian Wayne must seek out Zatanna and the one and only Santa Claus if there’s any hope of saving their friends and family. Santa comes to the aid of the DCU heroes in the crossover-event sequel you wished for! And you must have been extra good because a wintry mix of DC’s wildest characters arrive this time to face a powerful foe…the Silent Knight! Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns #1 is the return of the Batman/Santa team-up we didn’t know we needed!
Santa is back! Written by Jeff Parker, Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns #1 is the second series that has Santa teaming up with the DC superheroes to stop some evil. A horror has drawn the League to take on an unknown evil and they’re trapped leaving Damian to escape and eventually summoning Santa to help save the day! The debut issue sets everything up featuring some unexpected characters and also teases its continuation to last year’s awesome mini-series. But, you don’t need to have read it to enjoy this!
Yes, the comic might sound silly overall, Batman teaming with Santa, but Parker has nailed down the explanations of this Santa and it all works so well in the DC Universe. Basically, it’s the second volume for last year’s surprise hit and it’s now a series we want back for years to come.
The art by Lukas Ketner is solid. With color by Marcelo Maiolo and lettering by Pat Brosseau, everyone looks good and the comic has a holiday vibe about it. Santa, when he debuts, looks bad ass making me want an action figure of this take. Make this happen! Damian too is handled really well with a slightly jaded vibe but you can still he’s excited when Santa shows up.
Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns #1 features some good action and a little holiday magic that has us excited for the return of Santa and to see what happens next to save the day. It’s just a fun comic you can sit back an enjoy this holiday season.
