Revealed during Saturday’s Batman Day was the 1989 Batwing LEGO set, recreating the iconic vehicle from the Tim Burton directed, Michael Keaton starring film.
Last year, LEGO revealed a Batmobile and this year they’ve decided to take to the sky with the set that features 2,363 pieces. The set also features three minifigures that include Batman, the Joker in his mime outfit, and a Joker hechman.
DC today unveiled plans for a global Batman Day celebration on September 19, 2020, inviting fans of all ages around the world to participate in a wide range of Batman-themed activities to honor the iconic DC Super Hero. For the first time, fans have the opportunity to drive along with a “Batman and The Riddler” theme on Waze. And to complete the experience, you can listen to the Waze and DC Super Hero or Super-Villain playlists on Spotify while driving via the Waze Audio Player feature. Plus, free digital comics, free activity kits for kids, a Batman Virtual 5K/10K Run/Walk, and even a digital mystery to solve in which fans can put on their cape and cowl and transform into their strongest self.
Fans can also team up with Batman to protect Gotham City in a series of digital activities, such as joining the celebration on social media and helping Batman to piece together a series of clues left behind by The Riddler. If you can decode these mischievous hints, you’ll unlock exclusive, limited-time reveals! The adventure begins when the virtual Bat-Signal lights up at 12PM PT, September 18, on the @DCComics Twitter.
The new Waze Batman theme allows for more than 100 million monthly active Waze users to ride along with Batman and The Riddler from August 31 to October 31. Waze drivers can opt to hear directions in the style of Batman, voiced by Batman: The Animated Series actor Kevin Conroy, as well as select a custom Batmobile icon and Batman mood. Drivers who want a slightly more villainous experience can select The Riddler voice directions (voiced by actor Wally Wingert), mood, and custom vehicle. Waze users worldwide can experience the Batman theme in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

To see one of the projections in person, all that is required is to go outside shortly before 8 p.m. local time in cities set to light up their skies. Batman Day is almost here and to celebrate the Dark Knight’s 80 years as the World’s Greatest Detective, DC and Warner Bros. are lighting up the night skies by projecting the iconic Bat-Signal, as well as producing fan celebrations, in major cities around the globe on Saturday, September 21.
Like fireworks on New Year’s Eve, the glow of the distinctive Bat silhouette will illuminate the edifices of skyscrapers and landmarks around the world in rolling fashion as the sun sets in each city. And just like a solar eclipse, this may be a once-in-a-lifetime event!
Fans can zoom in and follow the festivities with the new interactive Batman Bat-Tracker launched by DC today. As cities flip the famous switch illuminating the insignia, the Batman Bat-Tracker will mirror the real-time projections. Additional information on Bat-Signal celebrations and activations in those cities can be found at Batman80.com.
To see one of the projections in person, all that is required is to go outside shortly before 8pm local time in cities set to light up their skies. So, start deciding which Batman t-shirt to wear Melbourne, Australia because you will be the first to celebrate under the Bat-Signal at Fed Square facing Flinders Street, 9 hours ahead of London and 14 hours ahead of New York (Gotham City!).

Of course, a Batman Day celebration wouldn’t be complete without something extra special in Gotham City. Barnes & Noble Union Square is hosting a talent signing and panel discussion moderated by DC Publisher Dan DiDio and featuring award-winning Batman writers and artists Scott Snyder, Peter J. Tomasi, James Tynion, IV, and Brad Walker, as well as special activities all day long for kids and families.
In Los Angeles, DC and Warner Bros. will host a special Batman 5K night run and fan celebration. Fans can sign-up to participate. Batman runs will also take place throughout Asia (Shanghai, Manila, Singapore and Bangkok), Latin America (São Paulo and Mexico City) and Australia (Brisbane).

BATMAN IN THE GAME Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is celebrating Batman’s 80th anniversary with an “Injustice 2” Mobile Batman arena marathon event from September 13-24 in which fans can battle for Batman rewards. In addition, DC Universe Online is showing its support from September 13-30 with two new Batman-themed in-game t-shirts. One is free to claim for all players and one is exclusively for members.
BE BATMAN Warner Bros. Consumer Products launched custom Batman curated “Presented by Amazon” shops in Chicago, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles that will be open through September 30, offering the largest collection of limited-edition Batman 80 merchandise.
The world-famous FAO Schwarz is inviting fans of all ages to shop limited-edition toys and collectibles, as well as take part in super-charged fan and family Saturdays throughout September, featuring a lineup of interactive experiences including a photo moment with the world’s most popular Super Hero himself on Batman Day.

BATMAN GIVES BACK DC is collaborating with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to recognize kids, teens and youth development professionals who stand up for positive change in their communities – just like Batman! Through AT&T Aspire, an initiative using innovation in education to drive student success in school and beyond, 30 Boys & Girls Clubs around the country will celebrate members of their Club community, who represent the qualities of DC’s most popular Super Hero on September 21.

DC Entertainment has announced new details for Batman Day 2018. Now in its fifth year, the fan-favorite holiday will take place on September 15, 2018 and include Batman-themed events at thousands of comic book retailers, bookstores, schools and libraries worldwide. As part of the Batman Day festivities, fans who visit participating retailers will receive the first chapter of Batman: White Knight, written and drawn by Sean Murphy, a month ahead of the collected edition release. The book will also feature a preview of another upcoming DC Black Label title Batman: Damned by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo. Younger fans can pick up a free copy of the first chapter of Batman: A Lot of Li’l Gotham. Following Batman Day, DC will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Dark Knight with a year-long celebration in 2019. On March 30, 1939, artist Bob Kane with writer Bill Finger gave life to Batman in Detective Comics #27. In 2019, DC will celebrate the publishing milestone of the comic book series’ monumental 1000th issue as well as Batman’s 80th anniversary. In celebration of Harley Quinn’s 25th Anniversary, this year the bubbly Super-Villain will take over DC’s annual Batman Day celebration on September 23, 2017. The announcement was made on the DC Harley Quinn: Celebrating 25 Years panel at SDCC. The panel included moderator and current Harley Quinn writer Jimmy Palmiotti, and panelists Amanda Conner,Paul Dini, Chad Hardin, Alex Sinclair, Tara Strong and more!
Harley Quinn debuted on Batman: The Animated Series in the episode “Joker’s Favor,” which originally aired in September 1992. Co-created by the acclaimed Paul Dini and Bruce Timm Harley Quinn spawned the now popular and plentiful comic series and is one of the fastest growing characters in DC history, becoming a top ten character in only the last 25 years.
