Arne Jysch Discusses Babylon Berlin’s Designs and Rebecca Ferguson and Michael Fassbender as Inspiration

Titan Comics has provided us with an exclusive look at some of the design decisions by writer/artist Arne Jysch that went into the graphic novel adaptation of Babylon Berlin – inspired by the new crime drama now on Netflix.

Following an unfortunate incident of manslaughter and at a moment of radical change in Germany, Detective Inspector Gereon Roth moves from his old position in Cologne to a new appointment in Berlin. He stumbles into an ever-growing criminal investigation into a pornographic sex ring, discovering that he can trust no one, not even the police.

Set in the 1920s, at the birth of the Weimar Republic amid great economic and political difficulties, this is a tale of corruption, trafficking, and scandal.

In Jysch’s version of the story, actor Michael Fassbender was the inspiration for the main character Gereon Rath. Once you know it you can see it. Actress Rebecca Ferguson was the inspiration for the female lead Charly. So, three years ago Jysch combined them in the fictional world of the comic book. And Jysch was psychic appears as the two were REALLY had been cast together in The Snowman.

Check out below for the designs that went into the graphic novel adaptation. You can get Babylon Berlin now in comic shops and book stores on March 6th.
