Pop Tate serves a second helping of horror with more Chock’lit Shoppe of Horrors: Fresh Meat

Pop Tate, the small-town restaurateur of Archie Comics lore, has some sinister secrets that were revealed in a chilling Archie Horror one-shot anthology earlier this year. The not-so wholesome food-themed horror continues in Chilling Adventures Presents… Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe of Horrors: Fresh Meat, on-sale in March!

While the first Chock’lit Shoppe of Horrors comic revealed the nefarious goings on at the famous Riverdale diner after hours, Fresh Meat will explore how Pop and his dark establishment came to be in three new stories by the original creative team. The collection includes “Lord of the Fries” by Amy Chase and Federico Sabbatini, “Feed Me, Jughead” by Eisner nominee Jordan Morris and Liana Kangas, and “Free Market, Free Range” by Ryan Cady and Chris Panda.

As a new entry in the “Chilling Adventures” anthology series and a follow-up to a fan-favorite installment, Fresh Meat is a warm welcome for genre fans who may be new to the Archie Horror-verse and a second helping for longtime readers who wanted more after the first bite.

Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe of Horrors: Fresh Meat, with a cover by Adam Gorham, an open-to-order variant cover by Aaron Lea, colors by Ellie Wright and lettering by Jack Morelli, releases March 20 in comic shops.

From the outside, Darla Lang looks like a normal college student—save for the peculiar voluminous black cloak she wears everywhere. Her peers and professors chalk this up to Darla’s eccentric, introverted, slightly creepy persona, but Darla is a young woman with a secret… and a mission. Darla’s cloak is actually a mystical artifact that she can use as a melee weapon, trapping her enemies inside and teleporting them away. Darla’s power and connection to the supernatural world have always been a curse, and now she’s enrolled in Ivy Hollow University which harbors some dark secrets of its own. Will Darla find within its hallowed halls the answers to the questions about herself and her powers that she’s been seeking? Darkling mixes superheroics with dark academia from writer Sarah Kuhn (Shadow of the Batgirl, Girl Taking Over: A Lois Lane Story) and artist Carola Borelli (Spider-Woman).

Two new witches menace Sabrina in an annual spectacular!

Watch out, Greendale — there are two new witches in town! This Halloween season, Archie Comics welcomes Sapphire and Jade to the hometown of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, where they will team up with the villainous Amber Nightstone to form The Wicked Trinity. The new lead story by writer Jamie L. Rotante and artist Holly G! kicks off Sabrina Annual Spectacular, a September one-shot comic book collecting magical Sabrina stories from throughout her iconic history.

Amber was born on the same day as Sabrina. Only one witch born that day is allowed to live among mortals, so Amber sets her sights on unseating her rival. Still smarting from defeats in various stories over the past year, Amber now enlists the help of Sapphire and Jade to accrue as much magical power as she can. Amber’s debut issue was an instant sell-out that went to a second printing.

The two new witches wield power in much different ways than previously seen in the Sabrina side of the Archie Universe. Jade, a small-but-fierce woodland fairy who generates her power from the wind, is an agent of chaos, and is often the wildcard of any operation. The calm and collected Sapphire, by contrast, comes from a family of sea-witches, with the ability to conjure water and communicate with sea life.

“Power of Three.” Amber Nightstone, Sabrina’s new nemesis, refuses to be defeated, and her power in numbers is growing. Now with two brand new comrades by her side, Jade and Sapphire, Amber has a thirst for power. She decides to kidnap any magic-doers she can find, including members of Sabrina’s family. Sequestering them away to gain their magical insights, Sabrina’s going to have to go at defeating Amber and her cronies alone… unless she can find other magical beings to help her out. All that plus more magical Sabrina content!

The comic will publish alongside a complete slate of Halloween-themed digest comics throughout the weeks leading up to the holiday, all featuring brand new stories and classic reprints, as well as Archie Horror’s “Month of Mayhem” lineup for older horror fans. Sabrina Annual Spectacular releases September 6 in comic shops nationwide, featuring a cover by Archie legend Dan Parent.

Archie Horror’s “Month of Mayhem” returns!

Archie Comics rules Spooky Season once again with the return of Archie Horror’s Month of Mayhem, a fall event launching new spine-chilling horror comics in the run-up to Halloween. Kicked off by the imprint’s first trade paperback collection of short stories, the slate includes a battle with the forces of Hell, demonic toys, robots run amok, and a twisted version of Riverdale where nothing is what it seems.

The initiative launches with Chilling Adventures – The Anthology Collection, the long awaited trade paperback compendium of Archie Horror’s recent one-shots and short stories, on September 12. A delightful candy box of quick spooky thrills that can be dipped into over and over, the book has something for every horror fan across sub-genres, art styles, and tones. Month of Mayhem then continues with the next installment of writer Elliot Rahal’s Madam Satan saga as Hell follows the iconic Sabrina villain to the mortal plane in Madam Satan: Hell on Earth on September 20.

Leading the pack of new horror hits is Welcome to Riverdale on October 11, an eerie one-shot exploring the horrific implications of toxic positivity gone wrong in America’s ideal small town by writer Amy Chase and artist Liana Kangas.

Archie Horror’s first foray into children’s horror was last years Fear the Funhouse anthology one-shot, inspired by genuinely scary children’s horror like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark?. This year’s Month of Mayhem event is rounded out by a return to that dark universe with Fear the Funhouse Presents… Toybox of Terror on October 18. It boasts three middle grade chillers written by Timmy Heague, owner of Arsenal Comics and Games, Danielle Paige, and Michael Northrop with art by Ryan Caskey, Tango, and Ryan Jampole.

Chilling Adventures – The Anthology Collection and Madam Satan: Hell on Earth are available for pre-order now from only the most haunted comic shops, and the rest of the Month of Mayhem lineup will be open to order on July 21.

The Archie Horror universe expands in a new Madam Satan team-up!

Madam Satan, the long-running macabre anti-hero of the Archie Horror imprint from Archie Comics, is about to take her ongoing battle against Satan to the next level in Chilling Adventures Presents… Madam Satan: Hell on Earth. The one-shot comic book releasing in September also establishes linked continuity among the Archie Horror titles for the first time with a surprise team-up.

Writer Eliot Rahal kicked off Madam Satan’s solo story in a sold-out 2020 one-shot following her memorable run as an iconic Sabrina villain, and he has chronicled her escape from Hell in short stories appearing in two Chilling Adventures in Sorcery anthologies. In Hell on Earth, with art by Vincenzo Federici, those narrative threads come together in an explosive battle as the forces of Hell invade the mortal plane.

The events of Hell on Earth are so overwhelming that Madam Satan may be in over her head, and a chance encounter with another powerful figure could either save the day or seal her fate. It also places several Archie Horror characters in the same shared universe for the first time, after years of standalone one-shots occupying their own space.

Hell on Earth, with an open-to-order variant cover by Soo Lee, colors by Ellie Wright, and lettering by Jack Morelli, releases September 20 in comic shops nationwide and will be available for pre-order in comics shops starting Friday, June 23.
