Review: Aliens: Dead Orbit #2

Having narrowly escaped the deadly xenomorph, Wascylewski moves around the hold of the ship, wary of his terrifying pursuer. His reflexes are tested again—but this time, by a sudden, massive breach in the hull. Will he survive?

Written by James Stokoe, Aliens: Dead Orbit #2 reveals what caused Wascylewski’s current situation and how the Aliens got on board. He also manages to reveal some of the events that happened on the ship they found in the past. Given how cryptic some of the information they found is, begs a lot of questions. Yet one manages to stand out, will who that ship was working for show up?

The art style by Stokoe amps up the gore tremendously. Especially as the larva stage of the alien appears. He manages to show the sheer agony of the process in superb fashion. Yet it also manages to show the sheer distress of Wascylewski well as things continue to worsen.

Review: Aliens: Dead Orbit #1

After a horrific accident strikes a space station, an engineering officer must use all available tools—a timer, utility kit, and his wits—to survive an attack from the deadliest creature known to man.

Orc Stain creator James Stokoe pens a thrilling and claustrophobic Aliens story: Dead Orbit!

Aliens: Dead Orbit #1 features a strange beginning, and an even stranger ending. Yet, something tells me there is a lot of story that has not been revealed yet by writer James Stokoe. That set-up leaves the reader with many currently unanswerable questions?

The art, also by Stokoe, creates a dark atmosphere that merges horror and science fiction well. The art manages to amplify the feeling of desolation and hopelessness, things that are staples of a good Alien tale.

The story and art come together to create a superb atmosphere for what will be an interesting, and creepy tale.

Dark Horse and Fox Put the “Alien” in Alien Day

In collaboration with 20th Century Fox and in honor of Aliens Day 2017, Dark Horse has announced its next developments in the beloved Aliens franchise: Aliens: Dead Orbit and Aliens: The Original Comics Series Volume 2.

Aliens: Dead Orbit finds Wascylewsk, an engineering officer, trapped in a space station after a horrific accident. Wascylewsk is forced to use all available tools—a timer, a utility kit, and his wits—to survive an attack from the deadliest creature known to man. James Stokoe writes and illustrates the series. Geof Darrow will provide a variant cover for the first issue.

Following the highly successful release of Aliens: The Original Comic Series earlier this year, volume 2 finds Earth overrun by xenomorphs, with no hope of saving it for humanity. This doesn’t mean humans are ready to give up their home without a fight. Ripley hatches a plan to capture a “Queen Mother”—a super queen that rules multiple nests—and bring it back to Earth. Ripley believes the Queen Mother will command the xenomorphs to gather together where she can detonate a nuclear bomb to destroy them. Mark Verheiden composed the stories while Den Beauvais and Sam Kieth illustrated the interiors. Aliens: The Original Comics Series Volume 2 collects Aliens: Nightmare Asylum #1–#4 and Aliens: Female War #1–#4, and includes cover art for all issues in a special oversized hardcover edition.

Aliens: Dead Orbit’s first issue (of four) goes on sale on April 26, 2017. Aliens: The Original Comics Series Volume 2 also goes on sale April 12, 2017.
