Terry Moore’s Rachel Rising is Being Collected as a Complete Edition

Dark Horse Books presents the next book in Terry Moore’s Abstract Studio line, The Complete Rachel Rising. Written and illustrated by Moore, The Complete Rachel Rising collects all forty-two issues of the modern horror classic along with the twenty-page, never-before-collected issue #0 prequel comic. Like all of the books in the Abstract Studio line, this hardcover edition will also include brand-new cover art by Moore and newly designed pages.

When Rachel climbs from a shallow grave with no memory of her death, she sets off a chain of sinister revelations connecting a small town’s past to its violent present. Combining slow-burn horror, dark mystery, and Moore’s trademark character work, Rachel Rising remains one of the most acclaimed horror comics of all time.

The Complete Rachel Rising (hardcover, 904 pages, 10.1875 x 6.625”) will be available in bookstores and comic shops on December 15, 2026. It is now available for preorder at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and your local comic shop and bookstore for $59.99.

Terry Moore’s Abstract Studio comes to Dark Horse as an Imprint

Dark Horse Comics has announced a new partnership with Eisner, Harvey, Reuben, and Inkwell Award—winning cartoonist Terry Moore and Abstract Studio. The imprint launches October 2026 with the release of the Strangers in Paradise Omnibus, a new hardcover edition of the cult-classic story featuring newly designed pages and a brand-new cover by Moore created exclusively for this Dark Horse edition. The first volume will collect Strangers in Paradise Volumes 1 (issues #1—#3), 2 (issues #1-#13) and 3 (issues #1—#7) and will also include a curated selection of bonus content, offering readers a deeper look into the series. This edition will be perfect for new readers and is an essential upgrade for longtime fans.

Strangers in Paradise is the compelling love story of three unlikely friends who find themselves bound together by their pasts…

Katchoo is a beautiful young woman living in the spare bedroom of her high school friend, Francine. Brash and outspoken, Katchoo makes no secret of her love for Francine, but that’s not an option for the shy, insecure woman who looks for Prince Charming in a series of bad boyfriends. Enter David, a gentle but persistent artist who seems determined to win Katchoo’s heart. The resulting triangle is a touching comedy of romantic errors that takes the trio down a complicated road of murder, mayhem, and love, featuring an array of characters, including crime bosses, psychopaths, and well-meaning friends.

The Strangers in Paradise Omnibus Volume 1 (hardcover, 480 pages, 10.1875 x 6.625”) will be available in bookstores and comic shops on October 13, 2026. It is now available for preorder at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and your local comic shop and bookstore for $39.99.

Multiple Objections Deemed Deficient in Objection to Diamond’s Motion to Sell Consignment Merchandise

Diamond Comic Distributors

Publishers have been filing objections to Diamond Comic Distributor‘s motion that would allow them to sell, liquidate, dispose of, inventory it currently still hasMany publishers have already been vocal about the motion and many have responded to our inquiries with “no comment” because it’s an ongoing legal matter. TwoMorrows Publishing, Magma Comix, and Graphitti DesignsAbstract StudioNBMWilliam M. Gaines, Agent, Inc.Humanoids, a joint filing by 13 publishersGAMA, the Ad Hoc Committee of Consignors, Cryptozoic Entertainment, and Image Comics have each filed objections to the motion. Diamond’s bank lender JPMorgan Chase filed a “limited objection” and “reservation of rights.” That’s about 1/3 of the 128 publishers mentioned as impacted in Diamond’s initial motion.

But… a bunch of the filings are deficient according to the court. In other words, they don’t follow the rules for filing.

Objections filed by William M. Gaines, Agent Inc., NBM Publishing Inc., Abstract Studio, Inc., Graphitti Designs, Molten Core Media, LLC aka Magma Comix, and TwoMorrows Publishing have all been deemed “deficient” by the Clerk of the Court. The reason given:

Appearance of counsel is required. (Local Bankruptcy Rule 90101)

Local Bankruptcy Rule 9010-1 in Maryland requires a corporation to be represented by an attorney in bankruptcy proceedings. Petitions and pleadings have to be signed by an attorney. There are some exceptions as to what corporations can do and how they can participate, but in this case, they need a lawyer to file the objection.

To fix they issue, they need to get an attorney who’s barred by the District Court.

Liminal Esports LLC had their filing deemed deficient by the court and it is now stricken from the official record as they didn’t correct it in time.

Abstract Studio Object to Diamond’s Proposed Consignment Sale

Abstract Studio

The objections to Diamond Comic Distributor‘s motion for the “sale or other disposition of consigned inventory” are rolling in with another comic publisher filing one today and more, we’re told, on the way. On June 25, 2025, Diamond Comic Distributors submitted the motion that would allow them to sell, liquidate, dispose of, inventory it currently still has. Many publishers have been vocal about the motion and many have responded to our inquiries with “no comment” because it’s an ongoing legal matter. So far, TwoMorrows Publishing, Magma Comix, and Graphitti Designs have each filed their own objections. Today, Abstract Studio has joined that list of objections. Abstract the publishing company of Terry Moore and Robyn Moore, the team behind Strangers in Paradise, Serial, Parker Girls, Rachel Rising, and Motor Girl.

In their objection, the publisher notes its distribution agreement began in November 2022 and that Abstract has a financial interest in recovering its product in a “timely manner.” They state the items are property of Abstract Studio until its distributed and that it is not owned by Diamond, and the creditors that have made loans to Diamond should have known this when Diamond used that inventory as collateral towards it loans. Abstract is asking for Diamond’s motion to be denied.

Those who want to object to the motion have until July 16, 2025 to do so in writing and file it with the Clerk of the Bankruptcy Court (Objections to the Motion must be in writing and filed with the Clerk of the Bankruptcy Court, 101 West Lombard Street, Suite 8530, Baltimore, Maryland 21201, on or before July 16, 2025; and be served so as to be received on or before the Objection Deadline by the undersigned counsel for the Debtors.). The hearing on the motion is being held on July 21.

Abstract Studio inks an Exclusive Distribution Deal with Diamond Book Distributors

Abstract Studio

Diamond Book Distributors has announced that it has signed a worldwide distribution agreement with Abstract Studio to exclusively distribute their books to North American and international book markets, as well as libraries. Distribution to the comic book specialty market is handled exclusively by Diamond Comic Distributors.

Under the banner of Abstract Studio, Terry Moore has been publishing his groundbreaking comics and graphic novels for almost thirty years. His seminal work, Strangers In Paradise, carved out a unique space for him in the world of American comics. Originally published in 1993, when The Death of Superman and other superhero titles were dominating comic book sales, Moore set out to explore a different narrative with Strangers in Paradise, one that would eventually be termed “slice-of-life dramedy.” The story centers around the lives of Francine and Katchoo, a pair of twenty-something best friends who eventually fall in love. The fan-favorite series features romance, action, intrigue, and Moore’s signature humor.

Strangers In Paradise was in publication for fourteen years, during which time it received great critical and commercial acclaim, including wins for an Eisner Award, a Reuben Award, and a GLADD Award for Best Comic. Terry would follow it up with Echo, Rachael Rising, Motor Girls, Serial, and the more recent Parker Girls. With consistent, thoughtful, and innovative storytelling, Moore has built a devoted following in comic shops.

Strangers In Paradise Volume 1 will be published with a new format and cover in June 2023, with Volume 2 releasing in October 2023.

Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Frank Miller's Ronin Book Two #1

Wednesdays (and Tuesdays) are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this week.

Ancient Enemies #1 (Frank Miller Presents) – Earth becomes the final battlefield for a centuries old war between two alien races.

Boat Life (Floating World Comics)Boat Life stars novelist Tsuda Kenta, a lightly veiled stand-in for the artist, Tsuge Tadao, himself, as he pursues a life of reprieve and reverie on a small, makeshift house boat on a river outside of Tokyo.

Dark Spaces: Wildfire #5 (IDW Publishing) – The series has been amazing and such a unique concept of a heist set in a forest fire. The art has been at times jaw dropping.

DC vs. Vampires #11 (DC Comics) – We’ll keep repeating it but the series has blown past our expectations and kept us at the edge of our seat.

Eight Billion Genies #6 (Image Comics) – The series has been amazing being able to fit in so many concepts and ideas and make it all work. But, it’s the characters in the crazy world that’s the real draw.

Fear of a Red Planet #1 (AfterShock) – The sheriff on Mars must deal with the murder of someone everyone hates.

Frank Miller’s Ronin Book Two #1 (Frank Miller Presents) – It’s been a long time since we read the original but Miller returning to comics the way he is and launching this has us intrigued.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #300 (IDW Publishing) – A final special oversized issue as G.I. Joe ends its time at IDW. Hopefully, this isn’t the end of Larry Hama’s writing for the series no matter where it winds up.

Kamen Rider: Zero One #1 (Titan Comics) – We’re not too familiar with Kamen Rider but we’re excited to check this out. The covers and art look awesome!

Once Upon a Time at the End of the World #1 (BOOM! Studios) – A new apocalyptic series but it’s a trilogy with each issue featuring 30 pages of story that spans a lifetime. An interesting concept from writer Jason Aaron and rotating group of artists.

Parker Girls #3 (Abstract Studio) – The series has been a lot of fun mixing action and humor, exactly what we’d expect from creator Terry Moor.

Star Wars: Revelations #1 (Marvel) – The issue teases what’s to come for Marvel’s Star Wars line of comics!
