Walt Disney Animation’s Prep & Landing Cure Christmas Chaos With Marvel’s The Avengers!

Official Press Release

Walt Disney Animation’s Prep & Landing Cure Christmas Chaos With Marvel’s The Avengers!

This November, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Emmy Award-winning Prep & Landing enters the world of the Avengers, Marvel’s most popular super heroes, in an all-new comic book adventure. Certainly Santa doesn’t just visit the ordinary citizens of the world – even super heroes should have a shot at making it onto the “nice” list.  Join Wayne and Lanny, members of an elite unit of elves who prepare homes for Santa’s arrival on Christmas Eve, in their not-so-ordinary task of preparing the Avengers Headquarters for the “Big Guy’s” arrival.  The significance of readying the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes for a visit from Santa is lost on his stealthiest elves – for them, it’s just another night on the greatest job ever.

“I love Prep and Landing. I love the whole concept of Santa having these high-tech, stealth, elf squadrons that help him get each house prepared for Christmas,” commented John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios. “It’s already so much fun combining this super secret spy world mixed in with the North Pole, and then to add the Avengers into the mix – spies, Christmas and comics – three of my favorite things!”

This all new Prep & Landing story, from writer Kevin Deters & artist Joe Mateo will be available exclusively in the following November on-sale comics:

  • Avengers #19
  • Super-Heroes #20
  • Spider-Man #20

“We’re all big fans of Prep & Landing, so bringing them into the Marvel Universe was a no-brainer,” said Axel Alonso, Marvel Editor in Chief. “I just hope that Lanny and Wayne have an easier time at my house this year than they do at the Avengers’ Mansion!”

And don’t miss Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice, a full-length special premiering on ABC this Christmas! Wayne and Lanny find themselves up to their pointy ears in trouble, as they race to recover classified North Pole technology… which has fallen into the hands of a computer-hacking Naughty Kid! Now they must turn to a Coal Elf named Noel in order to prevent Christmas from falling into chaos. You can bring home the original Prep & Landing when it releases on DVD this November 22.

This winter, the team of Prep & Landing enter the world of the Avengers—’Nuff said!

Dark Horse Announces Brian Wood & Kristian Donaldson’s The Massive Ongoing Series!

Official Press Release

BRIAN WOOD AND KRISTIAN DONALDSON’S THE MASSIVE CONTINUES IN ALL NEW COMIC SERIES FROM DARK HORSE!

NEW YORK, NY, OCTOBER 14–Following up on the news that Brian Wood (DEMO, DMZ, NORTHLANDERS) and Kristian Donaldson (Supermarket) would be bringing their upcoming collaboration to Dark Horse’s premier anthology, Dark Horse Presents, comes news that the three-part storyline will be continued in an all-new series in June of 2012!

The Massive follows a group of direct-action environmentalists after the world has experienced a crippling ecological disaster. With society grinding to a halt and the planet itself in a state of rebellion, this group sails the world’s oceans looking not only for its lost sister ship, the titular Massive, but for some sense of logic in all the chaos. What does it mean to be an environmentalist after the world’s already ended?

The Massive is the next logical step in my creative output: the world-building and politics of DMZ with the humanity of Northlanders, amped up and truly global in scope” said writer, Brian Wood. “No one is pulling any punches here; Kristian Donaldson is turning in his best work I’ve seen in all our years of collaboration, and the crew at Dark Horse is giving this the five-star treatment.”

As previously announced, The Massive will debut in Dark Horse Presents #8 in January of 2012, and will run in three installments through March. The Massive comic series debuts in June!

Company’s First 2 Books MONSTERS VS. KITTENS and ONCE UPON A TIME Set For Spring 2012

First Game STAN LEE SAVES THE WORLD Is Set For Take Off

October 14, 2011-New York— Paris Kasidokostas Latsis and Terry Dougas, founders of the graphic novel and comic book company 1821 Comics (www.1821comics.com),  Comic legend Stan Lee, Founder, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of POW! Entertainment and his producing partner, President and COO of POW! Entertainment Gill Champion announced today that they are teaming up to launch a new family-friendly multi-platform imprint called STAN LEE’S KIDS UNIVERSE. With the announcement, STAN LEE’S KIDS UNIVERSE will release a series of new books, characters, and interactive games—all created for children.

The announcements were made during a special presentation at New York Comic Con where Dougas and Lee unveiled a sneak peak at the company’s slate of first five books. Lee and Dougas showcased a number of giant posters and images from the new imprint for fans and media. Lee and Dougas also revealed plans for STAN LEE SAVES THE WORLD a new interactive game that they are co-producing with Cosmic Ray Gun Creative Design Studio for the iPad/iPhone platforms. This marks the first in a series of games that they will be releasing under the STAN LEE’S KIDS UNIVERSE banner. STAN LEE’S KIDS UNIVERSE will release its first two books in spring 2012, both projects are from acclaimed illustrator, writer, and comic creator Dani Jones, and are titled MONSTERS VS. KITTENS and ONCE UPON A TIME.

Dani Jones’ MONSTERS VS. KITTENS tells the story of a giant monster and a tiny kitten who are best friends. Her second book ONCE UPON A TIME tells the tale of a little pig who wants to tell a story but keeps getting interrupted by a cast of eclectic animals.

During the presentation Lee and Dougas also showcased characters from three additional books that STAN LEE’S KIDS UNIVERSE is currently developing in association with Viper Comics and their founder Jessie Garza:

•             “The Fuzz Posse,” a group of mischievous police dogs featuring an evil porcupine villain

•             An untitled book based on an assorted animal rock band with a cool cast that includes a rooster, a parrot, a hippo, a rabbit, a pig and a monkey

•             “Reggie The Veggie Crocodile,” a crocodile who loves vegetables and encourages kids to eat a well balanced diet

Commented Stan Lee:  “Our main purpose is we feel that there aren’t enough comic books or books for kids that really hit the target, that gives them excitement and humor together and are filled with surprises. We have a whole new group of new characters that the kids can call their own, just as the teenagers called Spider-Man their own so many years ago.”

Paris Kasidokostas Latsis of 1821 Comics commented: “Our goal at 1821 Comics since we launched the company has always been to create high quality books for all audiences and it’s always been a dream to create our very own kids’ brand, we couldn’t be happier to be making this a reality with Stan Lee. With today’s digital distribution opportunities, our imprint is in a prime position for tremendous growth.”

Added Terry Dougas of 1821 Comics: “It’s a pleasure and an honor to be launching this new imprint with Stan Lee today at New York Comic Con. After years of working together, Stan, Paris and I identified a place in the market for a new fun family brand for children and we are looking forward to filling this void with STAN LEE’S KIDS UNIVERSE. This imprint will be releasing a slate of books, games and characters.”
