Rocketship Entertainment launches its first monthly comic with Empiria

Rocketship Entertainment has announced they will be publishing Empiria, an allegorical fantasy epic exploring corruption, prejudice, and disparity from writer David K. Wilson and illustrator Jacque Solomon with lettering by Scott O. Brown. Empira will be the first monthly comic ever released by Rocketship Entertainment, and it will be distributed to the direct market through Lunar Distribution.

Happily ever after is over, but this story–   book is just beginning. In a world where elves rule over humans, gnomes, unicorns, dragons, and mermaids , corruption has taken the glint off this fairytale. In the province of dragons and unicorns, old wounds of apartheid are ripped open when a unicorn is assaulted by a gang of fascist dragons. A resentful human peasant joins an anti-elf church, spurred on by a blowhard demagogue. The greedy elven king urges his subjects to buy his magic crystals while he does nothing for his people, and his daughter is disgusted that she must act as the public face of his scheme while doing everything possible to set things right.  And tensions that have been boiling over amongst these communities explode when the elven prince is abducted from his birthday party on live television.

Bringing the iconic real-time strategy experience to the tabletop, the game introduces mechanics designed for fast, tactical play and allows players to command adaptable Terran armies, elite Protoss forces, or endless Zerg swarms in a new miniatures-based format.

Designed for 2 players, with a playtime of 60–120 minutes and a recommended age of 14+, StarCraft: Tabletop Miniatures Game is built to capture the speed and tactical depth that have defined StarCraft for decades. With organized play support, high-detail HIPS miniatures produced in-house, and gameplay created by long-time fans of the franchise, the game aims to deliver an authentic StarCraft experience on the tabletop.

Exclusive Preview: Klaus Janson’s first U.S. Art Exhibition at New York’s renowned Philippe Labaune Gallery

This March, New York’s Philippe Labaune Gallery will present a career-spanning exhibition of artwork by Eisner and Harvey Award-winning artist Klaus Janson, one of the most influential figures in American comic art and a defining force in the medium for more than five decades. Known for his iconic Batman and Daredevil art, Janson is one of the most important and influential comic artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Featuring over 100 pieces of stunning artwork including collaborations with Janson’s fellow comic legends Frank Miller, John Romita Jr., John and Sal Buscema, Dick Giordano, Bill Sienkiewicz, Gil Kane, and Gene Colan, and more, the exhibit at the Philippe Labaune Gallery is a beautiful survey of the artist’s groundbreaking career.

Through his deep engagement with penciling, inking, coloring, and writing, Janson has developed a comprehensive understanding of visual storytelling, from conception to execution, and from the mind of the creator to the eyes of the audience. Moving fluidly among these disciplines, he observes,“Everything on a page is connected to everything else. No decisions are arbitrary. Everything is conscious and deliberate.” 

Working with both traditional and digital tools, what distinguishes Janson’s practice is not only technical mastery, but an exceptional ability to collaborate with artists of widely varying stylistic approaches, including Frank Miller, John Romita Jr., John and Sal Buscema, Dick Giordano, Bill Sienkiewicz, Gil Kane, and Gene Colan, among others. Janson approaches each collaboration by carefully studying the pencils before applying ink.“I try to figure out what the intent of the penciler is, what he wants, and then I try to figure out what they actually need to get there.” This capacity to intervene without overpowering, to clarify while preserving the individuality of the original drawing, defines his approach and underscores his sensitivity as a collaborator. 

In addition to his work as an inker, Janson has penciled stories written by some of the most significant voices in contemporary comics. Collaborations with writers such as Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Denny O’Neil, Matt Kindt, Jeph Loeb and Brian Michael Bendis have resulted in projects that continue to occupy shelf space in comic book shops decades after their publication. His partnership with Frank Miller on Daredevil remains one of the most consequential collaborations in comics history. Their process was rooted in sustained dialogue and marked by mutual trust and confidence.“One thing that’s missing in comics today is the ability to sit and talk face to face, learning from each other,” Janson reflects.“Frank and I would often discuss and review what we were doing on our work together.” That exchange, technical, conversational, and iterative, helped define the visual language of a generation. 

Equally significant is Janson’s role as an educator. Through decades of teaching and mentorship, he has shaped generations of storytellers, emphasizing not only the technical foundations of the medium, but also the personal discipline and qualities required to sustain a life of creativity.“I didn’t realize until I stood in front of a classroom how much I didn’t know. There’s no doubt that teaching made me a better artist.” 

Central to Janson’s philosophy is the belief that stories must carry emotional weight. Influenced by impressionism and expressionism, he seeks to embed feeling into every element of a page.“I try to reveal some information in a visual way that is not in the text. The stories that interest me all share a common theme: family, relationships, and the choices we all make everyday in our lives” This approach gives his work its distinctive resonance, imbuing objects, environments, and figures with meaning that suggests psychological and emotional depth beyond the written narrative. 

The Klaus Janson Exhibition will be open to the public from Friday March 6th until Saturday April 11th. There will be an opening reception on March 5th  from 6 PM to 9 PM. The Philippe Labaune gallery is located at 534 West 24th Street in New York. 

Skybound, Image, and Hasbro Celebrate the Third Anniversary of the Energon Universe with All-New Commemorative Covers by Tom Reilly and Adriano Lucas

Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro have announced commemorative connecting variant covers from Skybound-exclusive artist Tom Reilly and colorist Adriano Lucas coming in June 2026 to celebrate the third anniversary of the Energon Universe, the record-breaking comics line that began with the iconic stealth launch of Void Rivals #1 from writer Robert Kirkman and artist Lorenzo De Felici. 

Since then, the Energon Universe has grown to include the two-time Eisner Award winning TRANSFORMERS whose current creative team consists of writer Robert Kirkman, artist Jason Howard, and colorist Mike Spicer, G.I. JOE by writer Joshua Williamson, artist Andrea Milana, and colorist Lee Loughridge, and now also the brand-new series M.A.S.K. by writer Dan Watters, artist Pye Parr, and colorist Pierluigi Casolino, launching June 3. 

To mark the anniversary, each Energon Universe comic releasing in June 2026 will feature two sets of open-to-order, connecting, full art variant covers from fan-favorite Energon Universe artist Tom Reilly and colorist Adriano Lucas, the second black & white version of Reilly’s art.  

The variants will be available for M.A.S.K. #1, TRANSFORMERS #33, G.I. JOE #23, and Void Rivals #31. With the full art piece featuring 82 iconic characters, including recent Energon Universe returning favorites M.A.S.K., V.E.N.O.M., Arcee Magnus, Crystal Ball, Storm Shadow, and Scarlett, this is a connecting cover set collectors do not want to miss.

Skybound, Image Comics, and  Hasbro have revealed a first look at interior pages from G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero Sssilent Missions – Crimson Guard #1, an all-new one-shot debuting for Skybound’s Silent Missions month. Written and illustrated by acclaimed creator Gabriel Hardman, this issue hits comic book shops on April 8.  

The face of comic books changed forever when G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #21 introduced fans to the “Silent Interlude,” an action-packed story with no dialogue. This April, Silent Missions Month returns for a second year, but with a new twist: the focus turns to Cobra as its most lethal members take center stage in a new series of silent, high-stakes stories, featuring superstar creators. 

In this issue, Gabriel Hardman invites you to the join the next graduating class of Crimson Guard as they complete their final test: protecting Cobra Commander from an all-out assault by G.I. Joe! Failure is NOT an option!
