Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!
Wednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in
Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!
Find think below, and what comics you should be looking out for
Absolute Superman #25 (DC Comics) – It’s the end of the story of Superman going after Brainiac and we have no idea how this story arc is going to end.
Archie In Hell #1 (Oni Press/Archie) – Oni’s new line of Archie comics has been solid so far and we’re excited to check this one out that has a bit more of a mature vibe compared to the first two releases.
Avengers #1 (Marvel) – It’s a new era and a hell of a shake up to the status quo, so we’re excited to see what surprises the first issue delivers.
Bedford Street (Fantagraphics) – The art is fantastic and story is haunting. A hell of a graphic novel that’s well worth checking out. Watch out review!
Bitter Pill: Randy Shilts And The Dawn Of The HIV/AIDS Epidemic (Abramcs Comicarts) – We’re interested in learning more about the history of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
The Demon #2 (DC Comics) – The first issue was really well done with a good mix of humor, horror, and fantasy.
Dungeons And Dragons #1 (Dark Horse) – The creative team for this is awesome and we’ve got our dice handy to roll and see where the series goes. The comic also features material for your tabletop games, so it’s one that fans of the roleplaying game shouldn’t miss.
The Greater Good: People, Power, and Public Health (23rd Street) – We’re interested in reading this exploration of the topic of public health.
Jonah Hex And The Shadow Of Death #2 (DC Comics) – A solid western with a heavy dose of horror. The first issue was fantastic.
Mad Science Division #1 (Ignition Press) – It’s no secret Archimedes Anderson is a nepo hire. Assigned chief-coordinator of R&D at the American arm of genetic engineering and bioweapons development company Miyashi-Smith, everyone knows he’s here for one purpose: to slash the budget and trim the fat. If he can cut 30% from the unaffectionately nicknamed “Mad Science Division” budget, he’ll earn a cushy, high-level job at HQ.
Mind MGMT: New And Improved #5 (Oni Press/Flux House) – The series has been a mind trip keeping readers guessing as to what’s true and what’s false and who to trust and who we can’t. Mixed in with fantastic art and a presentation packed with small details that add to the story, it’s a top notch series.
No One Escapes The Dialectic #1 (BOOM! Studios) – When agents of the fearsome Special Naturalization Operations (SNO) become themselves hunted by a masked vigilante, a power struggle breaks out inside SNO between the Deep-State old guard and its death-squad vanguard, Gladio Unit!
Red Sonja/Barbarella #1 (Dynamite Entertainment) – It’s a team up we didn’t expect, but we’re absolutely going to read.
Rip Kirby #1 (Mad Cave Studios) – The classic character is back and we’re pumped to check out this revival.
Spider-Woman #1 (Marvel) – Spider-Woman mixed with Carnage? We’re intrigued.
Superman: The Stranger #3 (DC Comics/DC Black Label) – The series is “best of” material taking the classic character back to his early roots when corruption was the major evil being confronted.
